Background: For patients with lung metastases from soft-tissue sarcoma, pulmonary metastasectomy is considered to be the only chance of possible cure. In this survey, we analyzed some potential prognostic factors affecting the outcome in these patients.
Patients And Methods: 34 patients who underwent pulmonary metastasectomy for soft-tissue sarcoma from April 1996 to April 2007, were enrolled in our study.

Objectives: Multidrug resistance (MDR), which may be due to the over expression of P-glycoprotein (Pgp) and/or MRP, is a major problem in neoadjuvant chemotherapy of osteosarcoma. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of Tc-99m MIBI scan for predicting the response to pre-operative chemotherapy.
Methods: Twenty-five patients (12 males and 13 females, aged between 8 and 52y) with osteosarcoma were studied.

Background: Chemotherapy-induced amenorrhea is one of long term side effects of adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer which may interfere with their future reproductive function. Although amenorrhea is well recognized, the actual incidence following taxanes remains uncertain.
Methods: In a cross sectional study, we identified breast cancer patients aged 45 years or younger who were treated with adjuvant anthracycline and taxane-based regimens at three different oncology departments from 2001-2008.

Background: The beginning of metastasis poorly affects the prognosis of breastcancer patients. Lung is the most frequent site of visceral metastasis, and the rate of recurrence is 10-30%. We have tried to find out if the routine Chest X Ray (CXR) could play a role for early detection of lung metastasis, during the prognosis of these patients.

Recently, sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has been accepted as a standard method of assessment of axillary lymph nodes in breast cancer patients with no clinical lymphadenopathy. There is no standard pathologic method to evaluate sentinel lymph nodes. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the frequency of occult lymph node metastasis in sentinel lymph nodes via serial sectioning and immunohistochemical study with cytokeratin and its relationship with other clinicopathologic factors.

Osteosarcoma may rarely originate from the axial bones such as pelvis or vertebrae. In some pelvic and most vertebral primary tumors, resection often is not possible completely. In general, these tumors cannot be resected with negative margins so they need additional radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but results are unfavourable because of poor local control and high incidence of distant metastases.

Background: Dendritic cells (DC) induce tumor or pathogen-specific T cell responses in humans. Several laboratories have developed culture systems, including maturation factors for human DC from peripheral blood monocytes. We comprehensively compared standard maturation stimulus, an autologous monocyte-conditioned medium (MCM), with heparin for their ability to promote uniformly mature DC that elicit T cell responses.

Background: The p53 gene mutation is closely related to carcinogenesis in most malignant diseases. The main function of wild p53 protein is to maintain the integrity of genes by detecting mutations and preventing the division of cells with damaged DNA. The mutated form of p53 protein is overexpressed due to an extended half-life and can be easily detected by immunohistochemistry.
