Aims: Pharmaco-invasive percutaneous coronary intervention (PI-PCI) is recommended for patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)who are unable to undergo timely primary PCI (pPCI). The present study examined late outcomes after PI-PCI (successful reperfusion followed by scheduled PCI or failed reperfusion and rescue PCI)compared with timely and late pPCI (>120 min from first medical contact).
Methods And Results: All patients with STEMI presenting within 12 h of symptom onset, who underwent PCI during their initial hospitalization at Liverpool Hospital (Sydney), from October 2003 to March 2014, were included.

New thiazole and thiadiazole derivatives bound to the acetanilide moiety were synthesized and evaluated for their cytotoxic activity. The precursor -(4-acetamidophenyl)-'-phenylthiourea () was cyclocondensed with ethyl bromoacetate to afford a mixture of the two isomers, 2-(4-acetamidophenylimino)-3-phenylthiazolidin-4-one (, 23%) and 3-(4-acetamidophenyl)-2-phenyliminothiazolidin-4-one (, 71%). The Knoevenagel reaction of with various aromatic aldehydes afforded 5-arylidene-2-phenyliminothiazolidin-4-one derivatives -.

Copper (Cu) could be seriously hazardous when present at excessive levels, despite its vital contribution to various cellular processes. Selenium-enriched yeast (SeY) was reported to improve the health and metabolic status in broiler chicken. Hence, our study was endeavored to illustrate the mitigating efficacy of SeY on Cu-induced hepatic and renal damage.

Background/aim: The oral bacteria involved in the development of periodontitis alter the tissue conditions and modify immune responses in a way that may also influence tumor development. We investigated the prevalence of R gingipain (Rgp), a key virulence factor of the oral pathobiont Porphyromonas gingivalis, and the tissue-destructive enzymes matrix metalloproteinase 8 (MMP-8) and 9 (MMP-9) in 202 unselected consecutive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) samples. We further investigated the relationships between these factors and human papillomavirus (HPV) status, Treponema denticola chymotrypsin-like proteinase (Td-CTLP) immunoexpression, clinical parameters, and patient outcome.

Recently, phytochemicals in plants have evoked interest as sources of naturally beneficial substances and as alternatives to antimicrobials. Based on these benefits, it was hypothesized that garden cress (GC; Lepidium sativum) supplementation could overcome the negative impacts of severe heat stress on the reproductive and lactation performance, physiological parameters, and antioxidant status of rabbits. Twenty-four mature V-line does (6 months old) with an average body weight of 3.

Background: The current treatments of Facial hyperhidrosis (FH) are often limited and are associated with many adverse effects.
Objective: The objective was to study the efficacy and safety of botulinum toxin-A delivery by microneedling versus its intradermal injection in the treatment of FH. Forty-two patients with FH were subjected to microneedling (Mn) followed by topical application of BTX-A on one side of the face and intra-dermal injection of BTX-A on the other side.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is believed to promote oxidative stress, which potentially provokes and accelerates complications in conditions such as atherosclerotic cardiovascular, peripheral arterial, and cerebrovascular diseases. In this study, we evaluated the antioxidant therapeutic value of adding an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor-a low dose of captopril-as adjunct therapy to the treatment regimen of Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Participants were distributed among two different groups: control and treated.

Utilizing solid wastes and industrial by-products as a partial replacement for raw materials has become an acceptable practice among researchers and scientists in the civil engineering field. Sawdust and wood shavings are not an exception; they are being used in concrete as a partial or total replacement for some of its constituents. The main goal of this research is to establish a relation between destructive and non-destructive testing for concrete containing wood shavings as a partial replacement of sand (woodcrete).

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic may have a potentially serious effect on mental health and increase the risk of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorders in people. In this study, we aimed to determine the prevalence of psychological illness and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Libyan population's mental health.
Method: A cross-sectional survey, conducted in both online and paper modes and consisting of five sections, was completed in more than 30 cities and towns across Libya.

Background: Skeletal imaging techniques have become clinically valuable methods for measuring and assessing bone mineral density in children and young people. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is the current reference standard for evaluating bone density, as recommended by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD). Various bone imaging modalities, such as quantitative ultrasound (QUS), peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT), high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and digital X-ray radiogrammetry (DXR) have been developed to further quantify bone health in children and adults.

To obtain new anti-inflammatory agents, recent studies have aimed to replace the carboxylate functionality of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with less acidic heterocyclic bioisosteres like 1,3,4-oxadiazole to protect the gastric mucosa from free carboxylate moieties. In view of these observations, we designed and synthesized a series of 3,5-disubstituted-1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives as inhibitors of prostaglandin E (PGE ) and NO production with an improved activity profile. As initial screening, and to examine the anti-inflammatory activities of the compounds, the inhibitions of the productions of lipopolysaccharide-induced NO and PGE in RAW 264.

The year 2019 witnessed the first approval of an immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) for the management of triple negative breast cancers (TNBC) that are metastatic and programmed death ligand (PD)-L1 positive. Extensive research has focused on testing ICI-based combinatorial strategies, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the response of breast tumors to immunotherapy to increase the number of breast cancer patients benefiting from this transformative treatment. The promising investigational strategies included immunotherapy combinations with monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER)-2 for the HER2 + tumors versus cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)4/6 inhibitors in the estrogen receptor (ER) + disease.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are presently being revisited as promising potential antimicrobial combat agents. Acquisition of resistance to AMPs is very rare compared to conventional antibiotics as they kill microbes by direct disruption of cellular components including the microbial membrane and DNA. In this study four sources of mammalian plasma (human, bovine, caprine and ovine) were explored for presence and effectiveness of antimicrobial peptides by the spot-on-lawn method, followed by the agar well diffusion assay to confirm their antibacterial activity.
