The Relationship between Size of Core Network and Frequency of Contacts with Agitation and Positive Affect in Older Adults with Dementia.

Background: Few studies have explored the associations of agitation symptoms among older adults with core network size and with frequency of contact with core network care providers. The present study aimed to investigate the associations of agitation and affect among older adult people with dementia (PWD) with core network size and frequency of contact with core network care providers.

Methods: A convenience sample of 98 Omani older adult PWD residing in their homes was recruited.

Balance is impaired in symptomatic ankle osteoarthritis: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Ankle osteoarthritis (OA) is associated with several physical impairments but investigations into balance impairments in this population are limited. Understanding balance impairments in ankle OA may help inform the management of this condition.

Research Question: Does balance overall performance differ between individuals with symptomatic radiographic ankle OA, asymptomatic radiographic ankle OA and healthy controls? Are there any differences in mediolateral or anteroposterior balance, or confidence to perform balance tasks between these groups?

Methods: Ninety-six volunteers (31 symptomatic radiographic ankle OA, 41 asymptomatic radiographic ankle OA and 24 healthy controls) completed six static balance tasks: bilateral stance on a firm surface, bilateral stance on foam, and tandem stance, all performed with eyes open and closed.

Agitation in people with dementia: A concept analysis.

Aim: This article aims to clarify the concept of agitation in people with dementia (PWD) by identifying its attributes, antecedents, and consequences to propose an operational definition of the concept.

Background: Agitation is a recurrent behavior problem for many people with and without dementia, which results in psychosocial distress. The current literature lacks the conceptual clarity of agitation, which limits its effective nursing management.

Background: With the increase in the proportion of people with dementia (PWD), it is necessary to address dementia-related issues among older adults who live at home; however, there is no integrative review on this issue.

Oman's publication on this aspect is limited and therefore, this study was conducted. This study analyzed the data obtained from the RRT register in Oman.

Pioglitazone Enhances β-Arrestin2 Signaling and Ameliorates Insulin Resistance in Classical Insulin Target Tissues.

Introduction: Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione oral antidiabetic agent. This study aimed to investigate the effects of pioglitazone as insulin sensitizer on β-arrestin2 signaling in classical insulin target tissues.

Methods: Experiments involved three groups of mice; the first one involved mice fed standard chow diet for 16 weeks; the second one involved mice fed high-fructose, high-fat diet (HFrHFD) for 16 weeks; and the third one involved mice fed HFrHFD for 16 weeks and received pioglitazone (30 mg/kg/day, orally) in the last four weeks of feeding HFrHFD.

Development and validation of knowledge of caring for COVID-19 tool.

Aim: We aimed to examine the validity and reliability of a newly developed tool that measures nursing and allied health students' knowledge of caring for patients with COVID-19.

Method: We developed in five phases (literature review, item development, expert evaluation using content validity index, revisions based on a pilot test, and exploratory factor and reliability analyses on the data from the main study). We administered online surveys (the pilot test & the main study using a cross-sectional design) to students in a governmental health sciences college in Oman.

Scaffolds hybridization is a well-known drug design strategy for antitumor agents. Herein, series of novel indolyl-pyrimidine hybrids were synthesized and evaluated in vitro and in vivo for their antitumor activity. The in vitro antiproliferative activity of all compounds was obtained against MCF-7, HepG2, and HCT-116 cancer cell lines, as well as against WI38 normal cells using the resazurin assay.

This study investigated the acute effects of eicosapentanoic acid (EPA) on glucose homeostasis focusing on the role of free fatty acid receptor 1 (FFAR1) and the chronic effects of fish oil omega-3 fatty acids on insulin resistance. Insulin resistance was induced by feeding mice high-fructose, high-fat diet (HFrHFD) for 16 weeks.
