Laparoscopic TAPP (Trans-Abdominal PrePeritoneal) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to repair inguinal hernias. Arguably, one important aspect to TAPP hernia repair is the identification of anatomical landmarks and the correct use of various laparoscopic instruments. There are very few studies regarding the use of artificial intelligence in laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair and more specifically in TAPP.

Background: Older patients with malignancies are more comorbid than younger ones and are usually undertreated only because of their age. The aim of this study is to investigate the safety of open anatomical lung resections for lung cancer in elderly patients.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed all patients who underwent lung resection for lung cancer in our institution and categorized them into two groups: the elderly group (≥70 years old) and the control (<70).

Renal cell carcinoma has a high propensity for metastatic spread. There are several case reports of metastatic renal cell carcinomas associated with rare metastatic sites, in many cases more than ten years after the initial diagnosis. We present a 60-year-old man with perianal pain and a mass in the ischiorectal space, revealed by computed tomography.

In this context, we conducted the present study aiming to gain insights regarding the use of LMWH during pregnancy and puerperium. We recorded indication for use, diagnostic work-up as well as the safety and efficacy of the treatment, trying to elucidate the clinical practice in our country.

Computer assisted surgical planning allowed for a better selection of patients, evaluation of operative strategy, appropriate volumetric measurements, identification of anatomical risks, definition of tumour resection margins and choice of surgical approach in liver oncologic resections and living donor liver transplantations. Although preoperative computer surgical analysis has been widely used in daily clinical practice, intraoperative computer assisted solutions for risk analysis and navigation in liver surgery are not widely available or still under clinical evaluation. Computer science technology can efficiently assist modern surgeons during complex liver operations, mainly by providing image guidance with individualized 2D images and 3D models of the various anatomical and pathological structures of interest.

The subclavian-vertebral artery steal syndrome (SSS) is the hemodynamic phenomenon of blood flow reversal in the vertebral artery due to significant stenosis or occlusion of the proximal subclavian artery or the innominate artery. Occasionally, SSS is diagnosed in patients not harboring arterial stenosis. With the exception of arterial congenital malformations, the limited case reports of SSS with intact subclavian artery are attributed to dialysis arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs).

Metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma confers a poor prognosis. Even with recent advances in the treatment of this disease with the introduction of two modestly effective chemotherapy regimens, complete responses are still very rare. Moreover, there are no published data on how to further manage the patients who achieve a sustained remission following treatment.
