Intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation is the primary risk factor and currently the main treatable factor for progression of glaucomatous optic neuropathy. In addition to direct clinical and living animal in vivo studies, ex vivo perfusion of anterior segments and whole eyes is a key technique for studying conventional outflow function as it is responsible for IOP regulation. We present well-tested experimental details, protocols, considerations, advantages, and limitations of several ex vivo model systems for studying IOP regulation.

The triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) is crucial for stability and acts as a shock absorber and load transmitter at the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ). It is often injured in wrist trauma, particularly in young athletes. Clinical assessment involves patient history, physical examination, and imaging modalities like MRI, with wrist arthroscopy as the gold standard for diagnosing TFCC tears.

Injuries of the Hamstring Tendons: MR Imaging Diagnosis.

Magn Reson Imaging Clin N Am

February 2025

Academic Affairs, Department of Radiology, Montefiore Medical Center, New York City, NY, USA.

MR imaging evaluation of hamstring tendons reveals their association with subgluteal posterior hip pain, emphasizing the superiority of MR imaging over ultrasound due to the deep location of the hamstrings. This review encompasses various conditions, including overuse tendinopathy, metabolic disorders, and sports-related injuries prevalent in elite and recreational athletes. Practical MR imaging-guided approaches tailored to clinical needs and therapeutic options are discussed, highlighting MR imaging's crucial role in monitoring postinjury healing.

Indian J Surg Oncol

September 2024

Department of Orthopedics, Hand, and Reconstructive Microsurgery, Olympia Hospital & Research Centre, Tamil Nadu, 47, 47A Puthur High Road, Puthur, Trichy 620017 India.

Unlabelled: Fibrous histiocytoma (FH) within the finger, particularly involving the flexor tendon sheath, is a rare entity. While cutaneous fibrous histiocytomas have been documented in the fingers, their occurrence around the flexor sheath presents a unique diagnostic challenge, often resembling giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath (GCTTS). We report a case of benign fibrous histiocytoma involving the tendon sheath in the index finger of a 70-year-old patient and discuss its clinical presentation, differential diagnoses, histopathological features, and management.

Objective: Here we estimate the cost-effectiveness of olaparib in the Spanish National Health Service (SNHS) as adjuvant treatment of early germline mutations in the BRCA1/2 genes (gBRCAm) HER2-negative (HER2neg) breast cancer (BC) with high risk of recurrence.

Methods: A semi-Markov model was adapted to the Spanish healthcare setting, using the perspective of the SNHS, and a lifetime horizon. Two scenarios were compared: receiving olaparib versus standard of care (SoC) treatment.
