Primary myelofibrosis (PMF) is an uncommon chronic myeloproliferative disorder that is commonly associated with Janus kinase 2 (JAK-2), calreticulin (CALR), or thrombopoietin receptor (MPL) mutations. Pre-fibrotic PMF (also known as pre-PMF or early PMF) is a subtype of PMF that is defined by a lower grade of fibrosis. In this report, we present a rare case of warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA) associated with pre-PMF.

Few institutions have integrated psychologists into consult-liaison (CL) psychiatry services caring for patients with medical conditions and comorbid serious mental illnesses (SMI). To our knowledge, no studies have explored the experiences of an integrated pre-doctoral psychologist on a CL psychiatry service and applications of collaborative care. The present study aims to 1) highlight the experiences of a psychology extern on an adult CL psychiatry service in a public academic hospital, and 2) apply a collaborative care framework to provide recommendations for implementing integrated psychiatry-psychology collaboration.

Introduction: Landmark trials repeatedly demonstrate that pertuzumab and trastuzumab plus standard chemotherapy have the best outcomes in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positive breast cancer in the neoadjuvant, adjuvant, and metastatic setting. However, many of these multicenter landmark trials lack diversity and studied largely Caucasian populations. Our goal is to address this under-representation of minorities, and compare pathologic complete response (pCR) rates in our predominantly Hispanic population with HER2 positive breast cancer receiving the same neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center (OVMC) to that of pCR rates observed in the TRYPHAENA trial.

BACKGROUND Acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder that is part of a group of acute porphyria disorders usually found in females of reproductive age. Although clinically there is low penetrance, with 90% of genetically diagnosed individuals never experiencing an acute flair, consequences of acute flairs may lead to devastating results. Debilitating paresis, seizures, respiratory failure, and even death may result from AIP.
