Background: Recent studies have shown that ultrasound-guided injection of glucocorticoids is superior to blind puncture methods.
Objective: To evaluate clinical efficacy of ultrasound-guided drug injection in the treatment of olecranon subcutaneous bursitis.
Methods: From June 2016 to September 2018, 45 patients diagnosed with obvious synovial effusion and treated with ultrasound-guided injection therapy for olecranon bursitis were included in this study.

Musculoskeletal disorders account for 11% to 13% of office visits in ambulatory care clinics and 9% of all physician visits in the United States. Intra-articular or periarticular aspiration or injections are an integral part of the management of arthritis or periarthritis. Our aim was to determine the use and level of comfort of administering intra-articular and periarticular injections by primary care physicians (PCPs) practicing in a university setting.

Joint injection of the elbow is a useful diagnostic and therapeutic tool for the family physician. In this article, the injection procedures for the elbow joint, medial and lateral epicondylitis, and olecranon bursitis are reviewed. Persistent pain related to inflammatory conditions responds well to injection in the region.
