The effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on Tuberculosis (TB) case notification in Ogun State, Nigeria.

Introduction: COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in disruptions in delivery of Tuberculosis services especially, in resource-limited settings. Provisional data by the WHO from 84 countries indicates that about 1.4 million fewer people received care for tuberculosis in 2020 than in 2019.

Thanatophoric dysplasia: a case report.

A case of thanatophoric dysplasia with sudden death at term is hereby presented. Thanatophoric dysplasia is an uncommon, lethal skeletal dysplasia which is associated with mutation in the extracellular region of fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3). It is an autosommal dominant condition that has sporadic occurrence and early ultrasound scan has not been of great benefit in its detection.

The effects of the leaf water extract of Struchium sparganophora (Linn.) Ktze asteraceae on the hematopoietic parameters and the organ system of rats.

Struchium sparganophora, (Linn.) Asteraceae is a culinary herb consumed in the western part of Nigeria and it is known to have a nutritive value. This study was carried out to assess its' effects on the hematopoietic parameters and its toxicity on the organ system of Wistar rats.

Elevated plasma homocysteine in type 2 diabetes mellitus: a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.

Background: Elevated plasma total homocysteine (tHcy) concentration has been associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular events in type 2 diabetic individuals independent of conventional risk factors. Available study in Nigerian-Africans is scare.

Methods: Seventy (30 males) and (40 females) type 2 diabetes mellitus, with age mean of 54 ± 11.

The use of drains in thyroid surgery.

Objective: To evaluate the necessity and benefits of the use of drains and their limitations in thyroidectomy and assess their relationship with cost of surgery and hospital stay.

Methods: We conducted a prospective randomised study on 67 patients divided into two groups. A consisted of 35 patients with drain and B, 32 patients without drain between January 2005 and June 2007.
