An 88-year-old woman visited our hospital for hemoptysis due to ruptured peripheral pulmonary aneurysm diagnosed by contrast computed tomography (CT) and angiography. Her bleeding was stopped by interventional radiology vascular embolization. She was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis due to a positive acid-fast bacillus (AFB) smear test following admission and the positive polymerase chain reaction for tuberculosis, despite no obvious cavity lesions or scatter shadows on CT.

Hypothesis/background: Complications involving the fingers and hand after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) include complex regional pain syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), and flexor tenosynovitis (TS). The aims of this study were to diagnose the complications after ARCR and investigate the risk factors that could predispose individuals to these finger and hand complications.
Methods: Fifty patients (50 shoulders) who underwent ARCR participated in this study.

Purpose: To compare medial elbow stress during squatting throwing, standing throwing, and maximum effort throwing and to analyze its relationships with throwing variables and the hip joint internal rotation (IR) range of motion (ROM) in youth baseball catchers.
Methods: Forty-five youth baseball catchers were recruited. Exclusion criteria included pain during throwing, history of surgery, or upper-extremity injuries within 12 months.

BACKGROUND Catatonia can occur in various neuropsychiatric disorders and is usually treated with benzodiazepines. So far, although 1 case of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) with catatonia has been reported, there have been no reports on patients with DLB whose initial symptom was a catatonia. Here, we present a patient who developed benzodiazepine-resistant catatonia and was subsequently diagnosed with DLB based on DLB biomarkers.

A 62-year-old woman underwent upper endoscopy in January 2009 to reveal the presence of an extrinsic compression measuring approximately 3 cm in the anterior wall of the gastric antrum. Further examinations suggested that it was caused by peritoneal cancer of an unknown origin; thus, staging laparoscopy was performed in May 2009. Multiple white nodules of varying sizes were found scattered throughout the right upper quadrant of the abdomen and the right abdomen.

Recently, antegrade dissection re-entry (ADR) with re-entry device for chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has evolved to become one of the pillar techniques of the hybrid algorithm. Although the success rate of the device is high, it could be improved. We sought to evaluate the current trends and issues associated with ADR in Japan and evaluate the potential of cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA) for ADR procedure.

Advances in microcatheters (MCs) enables the establishment of retrograde systems for the treatment of chronic total occlusion (CTO). However, there are still cases in which establishing a retrograde system is difficult because the guidewire or MC cannot pass through due to calcification, stenosis, or tortuosity. We present a case of a 56-year-old man with angina.

Astigmatism causes deterioration of the retinal image and affects vision quality. Maintenance and improvement of visual function requires an understanding of the prevalence, age-related changes, and mechanisms of astigmatism. In this article, we discuss the findings of studies that investigated astigmatism.

Background: Comorbidity and relative dose intensity (RDI) have been associated with survival in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients, but both relationships remain unaddressed in the same patients.
Methods: A retrospective review of consecutive DLBCL patients treated from January 2010 to October 2018 was performed. Data for the clinical characteristics of the patients, including the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) and RDI, on their outcomes were evaluated.

BACKGROUND Three-dimensional (3D) printed models have been recently introduced for diagnosis and preprocedural planning for percutaneous interventions or surgery in cardiovascular disease. CASE REPORT We treated a 71-year-old woman with angina. Although we performed coronary angiography, we could not engage the catheters for the left coronary artery (LCA).

Background: Comorbidities among cancer patients are becoming more common. Comorbidity and relative dose intensity (RDI)are 2 major host-dependent prognostic factors for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL), but the clinical evidence demonstrating a relationship between those 2 factors is limited.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical records of patients with de novo DLBCL treated with rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone(R-CHOP) therapy at the Okitama Public General Hospital between January 2010 and October 2018 to evaluate the relationship between comorbidity and RDI.

Introduction: We investigated relationships between therapeutic outcomes of patients with emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) and changes in the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated EPN patients treated in our hospitals using the SOFA score incorporated in the Sepsis-3 updated in 2016.
Results: Seventeen typical EPN patients were included in this study, and were treated with medical management with no drainage (n = 3), retrograde stenting (n = 10), or percutaneous drainage (n = 3).

Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) impedes a patient's decision-making ability to support self-care and is associated with increased mortality in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). Thus, screening for MCI is very important. The assessment of hippocampal atrophy using magnetic resonance imaging can effectively diagnose early MCI.

BACKGROUND Recanalized thrombi are usually unrecognized in conventional coronary angiography. However, multiple channels have been observed in recanalized thrombotic lesions. Therefore, the wire apparently crosses the lesion in some difficult cases.

Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) is the most unbearable adverse effect of chemotherapy. The antiemesis guidelines of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network indicate that hyponatremia is a risk factor for CINV, although the relationship between the incidence of CINV and hyponatremia has not been sufficiently studied. This two-center prospective observational study evaluated whether low serum sodium concentrations were a risk factor for CINV.

The diagnosis was T1N0M0 scirrhous carcinoma that was estrogen receptor-positive, progesterone receptorpositive, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative. After 3 years 10 months, during which the patient underwent adjuvant therapy with oral aromatase inhibitors, she developed bilateral multiple lung metastases.

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) are used for primary therapy in patients with newly diagnosed CML. However, a reliable method for optimal selection of a TKI from the viewpoint of drug sensitivity of CML cells has not been established. We have developed a FRET-based drug sensitivity test in which a CrkL-derived fluorescent biosensor efficiently quantifies the kinase activity of BCR-ABL of living cells and sensitively evaluates the inhibitory activity of a TKI against BCR-ABL.

Pancreatic cancer in young adults is very rare. We report a case of young-onset poorly differentiated pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma with rapid progression and poor prognosis in a 31-year-old Japanese man with no obvious family history of malignancy. Preoperative examinations revealed a mass lesion in the body of the pancreas, accompanied by a slightly dilated main pancreatic duct distal to the mass lesion.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate associations between urethral sensation and urge urinary incontinence (UUI) in patients with and without detrusor overactivity (DO).
Methods: The medical records of 80 consecutive patients who underwent filling cystometry and urethral current perception threshold (CPT) tests were examined retrospectively. Following the exclusion of 4 patients not eligible for analysis, patients were classified into neurogenic DO, idiopathic DO, or DO-negative groups based on neurological and cystometric findings (n = 30, 12, and 34, respectively).
