DNA analysis of large herbivore feces samples collected from seagrass beds at two distant sites (Irabu Island in Miyako Islands and Kushi in Okinawa Island) in the Ryukyu Islands proved that some of these feces were from dugongs, which had been treated in recent studies as extinct in this region since the last stranding of a deceased individual in 2019. In addition, local knowledge of sightings of animals thought to be dugongs and confirmed cases of dugong feeding trails since 2010 were compiled to estimate its recent distribution. This is the first scientific report on the presence of this mammal in the Ryukyu Islands within the last four years, and particularly in the Miyako Islands within the last half-century.

We propose a framework to analyze the relationship between the movement features of a wheel gymnast around the mounting phase of Unit 2 of the vault event and execution (E-score) deductions from a machine-learning perspective. We described two novel zwitterionic polymer-terminated porous silica stationary phases containing the same pyridinium cation and anions of different side chains (carboxylate and phosphonate groups) for use in hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC). These two novel columns were prepared by polymerizing 4-vinylpyridine and grafting it onto a silica surface, followed by quaternization reaction with 3-bromopropionic acid (Sil-VPC) and (3-bromopropyl) phosphonic acid (Sil-VPP), which possess positively charged pyridinium groups, and negatively charged carboxylate and phosphonate groups, respectively. The products obtained were verified through relevant characterization techniques such as elemental analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Zeta potential analysis, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis.

To determine whether the mites used in the ripening process of traditional cheeses are genetically unique to cheese factories, we investigated mites from three types of traditional cheeses, that use mites in the ripening process: 'Würchwitzer Milbenkäse' from Germany and 'Mimolette' and 'Artisou' from France. In addition, traditional ripened cheeses were purchased from cheese specialty stores in France (Mimolette) and Japan ('Laguiole' from France) as well as stores in temporary markets in France ('Salers' and 'Cantal vieux') and the mites obtained from those cheeses were analyzed in this study. Partial sequences of the 28S rRNA gene (28S) were determined and used to reconstruct a phylogenetic tree.

Larva and nymphs of the fortuyniid species and are described and details about juvenile morphology of the selenoribatid species, and are given.
