This case study evaluated the mammary infection status of dairy cows during the dry periods and explored the associated problems in their quarters with dry cow therapy (DCT). This study assessed intramammary infections, antibiotic efficacy, and antimicrobial resistance of pathogens in 464-quarter milk samples from 59 dairy cows during the dry periods after applying blanket DCT, non-DCT, and selective DCT approaches on three farms. The recovery rates of intramammary infections were 95% (19/20 quarters) with blanket DCT on farm A, 70% (14/20) with non-DCT on farm B, and 19% (4/21) with selective DCT on farm C.

Copper-doped ZnO nanoparticles with a dopant concentration varying from 1-7 mol% were synthesized and their structural, magnetic, and photocatalytic properties were studied using XRD, TEM, SQUID magnetometry, EPR, UV-vis spectroscopy, and first-principles methods within the framework of density functional theory (DFT). Structural analysis indicated highly crystalline Cu-doped ZnO nanoparticles with a hexagonal wurtzite structure, irrespective of the dopant concentration. EDX and EPR studies indicated the incorporation of doped Cu ions in the host ZnO lattice.

Buckwheat allergy is an immediate hypersensitivity reaction that includes anaphylaxis mediated by specific IgE antibodies. Several IgE-binding proteins in common buckwheat have been reported to be possible clinically relevant buckwheat allergens. Although common buckwheat is popularly consumed in Asia, buckwheat allergy is becoming a serious problem not only in Asia but also in Europe.
