Background: Although standard treatment for heart failure (HF) has been established, it remains difficult to relieve HF-associated symptoms in some patients. Kampo medicines have been used to treat various diseases; however, it remains unclear whether they are effective in HF patients. We therefore performed a prospective, randomized, controlled trial to investigate whether Mokuboito, a Kampo medicine, affected symptoms and other parameters in hospitalized patients with acute decompensated HF (ADHF), as compared to standard therapy alone.

Idarucizumab was developed to reverse the anticoagulation effects of dabigatran. This study aimed to retrospectively investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of idarucizumab in the setting of progressive emergent bleeding events associated with catheter ablation (CA).

Proximal aortic enlargement is associated with an increased risk of heart failure and all-cause mortality. Recently, aortic root dilatation (ARD) was reported in postoperative patients with ventricular septal defects (VSDs). However, the impact of ARD on left ventricular (LV) function in postoperative VSD patients remains unclear.

Background: Physical activity among children and adolescents (collectively, youth) is important to ensure adult health. Population density is a factor that affects physical activity via various environmental factors. However, the relationship between population density and physical activity among youth is not fully understood, especially in extremely high density area.

Frozen elephant technique is an effective procedure used to repair complex thoracic aortic disease involving the aortic arch and the descending aorta, or to treat aortic dissection. However, the technique often requires some creativity to properly place the stent graft and anastomose the graft to the aorta. We recently used the J Graft FROZENIX® (Japan Lifeline Co.

Methods: A retrospective multicenter database of 246 (68 BSX and 178 EVT) consecutive HD patients with CLI (79% with tissue loss) who underwent infrainguinal revascularization from 2007 to 2009 was used to compare clinical outcomes, including overall survival (OS), major amputation (MA), major adverse limb event (MALE: repeat EVT, surgical reconstruction, or MA), and MALE-free survival after BSX vs.

A 68-year-old female underwent bare-metal stent (BMS) implantation in the right coronary artery (RCA) for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. Recurrent refractory restenosis with peri-stent contrast staining (PSS) formation was observed in the stented lesion at follow-up angiography at 7, 11, and 14 months after the index stent implantation. After 2 repeated interventions, this patient was referred to coronary artery bypass grafting due to occlusion of RCA and progression of proximal left anterior descending coronary artery lesion at 15 months after stent implantation.

The purpose of the present study was to determine whether a force of 20 cN can be biologically active for tooth movement and to examine the pain intensity during the application of light (20 cN) or heavy (200 cN) continuous forces for 7 days. In the first experiment, a force of 20 cN was applied to eight canines in five volunteers. The mean tooth movement during 10 weeks was 2.
