Article Synopsis
  • Adenoid cystic carcinoma is a rare cancer mainly found in the salivary glands, specifically noted here in a case involving the sublingual gland and lung metastases.
  • A 57-year-old Japanese woman had low FDG uptake in her lung metastases, despite high uptake in the primary tumor, suggesting varying tumor behavior.
  • Pathological findings indicated a stronger presence of solid components and a higher Ki-67 index in the primary tumor, leading to the hypothesis that different tumor growth rates are responsible for the discrepancies in FDG uptake.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the physical properties of small focal spot imaging with deep learning reconstruction (DLR) and small or large focal spot imaging with hybrid iterative reconstruction (IR) in chest-abdominal plain computed tomography.

Method: In small focal spot imaging using DLR and hybrid IR, tube currents were set at 350 mA. For the large focal spot imaging using hybrid IR, the tube current was set at 360, 400, 450, and 500 mA.

In the present prospective case series study, we investigated the lesion-detection ability of an AI-equipped colonoscopy as an addition to colonoscopy (CS) screening. Participants were 100 patients aged ≥20 years who had not undergone CS at the study site in the last 3 years and passed the exclusion criteria. CS procedures were conducted using conventional white light imaging and computer-aided detection (CADe).

Background: It is crucially important to understand the risk factors for rectal bleeding after volumetric-modulated arc radiotherapy (VMAT) for prostate cancer to prevent subsequent rectal bleeding. We assayed clinical and dosimetric data to investigate the risk factors for rectal bleeding after VMAT of prostate cancer.

Materials And Methods: This study included 149 patients with prostate cancer who received VMAT from February, 2012 to June, 2020.

Objective: We compared the contrast-enhancement effects of the coronary arterial phase and the aortic phase in coronary and aorta computed tomography angiography (CA-CTA) using the bolus-tracking technique-based single-peak contrast medium injection (BT-SPI) method and the bolus-tracking technique-based dual-peak contrast medium injection (BT-DPI) method.

Method: CA-CTA images were acquired from 30 patients, using BT-SPI and BT-DPI. Regions of interest were selected in the right ventricle and ascending aorta during the coronary arterial phase, and in the aorta during the aortic phase to obtain mean CT values.

Article Synopsis
  • Nocardiosis is hard to diagnose, often leading to delays; the study focused on examining HRCT findings in patients with pulmonary nocardiosis.
  • This retrospective study analyzed 18 patients treated from 2011 to 2014, revealing common underlying conditions such as respiratory issues and diabetes; most patients showed distinct HRCT abnormalities.
  • Key findings suggest that HRCT results, like the presence of nodules/masses with interlobular septal thickening or cavitation, can indicate pulmonary nocardiosis in patients with pneumonia.
