Nucleic acid-triggered tumoral immunity propagates pH-selective therapeutic antibodies through tumor-driven epitope spreading.

Important roles of humoral tumor immunity are often pointed out; however, precise profiles of dominant antigens and developmental mechanisms remain elusive. We systematically investigated the humoral antigens of dominant intratumor immunoglobulin clones found in human cancers. We found that approximately half of the corresponding antigens were restricted to strongly and densely negatively charged polymers, resulting in simultaneous reactivities of the antibodies to both densely sulfated glycosaminoglycans (dsGAGs) and nucleic acids (NAs).

Proposal for a Paradigm Shift in Personalized Medicine for Patients with a Maxillary Edentulous Jaw by ENT Specialist and Dentist Cooperation.

With the spread of oral implant therapy, serious medical complications related to implant surgery are becoming a social problem. Although the number of complications after implant surgery in the edentulous jaw is decreasing in Japan, maxillary-sinus-related complications (MSRCs) have reached the highest number since 2012. It is essential to identify and eliminate possible predisposing risk factors for MSRCs at an early stage to prevent MSRCs.

Current complications and issues of implant superstructure.

The purpose of this review is to search for complications of dental implant superstructures and consider the issues involved. This narrative review was performed by searching through PubMed databases and review articles that were published after 1990. Misfitting of the superstructure can result in loosening of screws, reduced preload, and in some cases, significant stress around the implant.

Observation of mandibular second molar roots and root canal morphology using dental cone-beam computed tomography.

The mandibular second molars show various morphological features in the roots and root canal, and a guttershaped root (GSR) caused by fusion of the mesial and distal roots is frequently encountered. In this study the number of the roots associated with mandibular second molars were observed using dental cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). For those with a GSR, determination of root morphology and root canal classification were performed.

Direct bonded fixed partial denture with an artificial denture tooth as a pontic.

Background: The present review aimed to investigate the feasibility and clinical effectiveness of a direct bonded fixed partial denture (DBFPD) based on available literature. The efficiency of a DBFPD is mainly affected by the type of artificial denture tooth, the type of luting agent, and the adhesive preparation.

Methods: The parameters were reviewed based on the in vitro and in vivo studies conducted.

Effectiveness of denture space recording method in the prosthetic treatment of edentulous patients.

Purpose: To present a clinical rationale for the effectiveness of denture space recording methods for the prosthetic treatment of edentulous patients through a review of the literature.

Study Selection: A total of 3167 studies were extracted from a search of four terms, namely denture space, neutral zone technique, flange technique, and piezography using PubMed and J-STAGE databases. A total of 57 documents that matched the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected.

The importance of early detection for postoperative maxillary cyst before dental implantation: A case report.

Introduction And Importance: It is difficult that doctors other than otorhinolaryngologist/radiologist find early postoperative maxillary cyst (POMC) because it tends to expand gradually with no symptoms over a period of years.

Case Presentation: A 60-year-old Japanese male who had previously undergone a bilateral Caldwell-Luc operation for the treatment of chronic sinusitis, experienced maxillary sinus floor elevation and implant placement. Eleven years after the implant placement, we discovered that the left POMC existed close to dental implants.

Cone-beam computed tomography observation of maxillary first premolar canal shapes.

A variety of shapes has been reported for the roots and root canals of maxillary first premolars. The purposes of the present study were to determine branching and shapes of the roots of maxillary first premolars, as well as age-related changes using slice images obtained with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) for dental use. CBCT-reconstructed images of 125 cases that included maxillary first premolars were used as subjects.

Alendronate Augments Lipid A-Induced IL-1α Release via Activation of ASC but Not Caspase-11.

Nitrogen-containing bisphosphonates (NBPs), such as alendronate (ALN), are anti-bone-resorptive drugs that have inflammatory side effects. We previously reported that ALN augmented lipid A-induced interleukin (IL)-1β production and NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing-3 (NLRP3)/apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC)-dependent cell death. The present study aimed to examine whether ALN augments lipid A-induced IL-1α release and necroptosis, which is induced by the activation of receptor-interacting protein kinase (RIPK) 3.

Alendronate/dexamethasone combination therapy worsens soft and hard tissue wound healing around implants in rat maxillae.

Dental implant treatment in patients prescribed medications is associated with bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) around the implants. However, there is no scientific information on how bisphosphonate and/or steroid therapies affect wound healing around implants after implant placement. The aim of this study was to histopathologically and immunopathologically investigate the effects of bisphosphonate and/or steroid therapy on the early stages of soft and hard tissue wound healing around implants in rat maxillae.

Relationship between Vitamin Intake and Health-Related Quality of Life in a Japanese Population: A Cross-Sectional Analysis of the Shika Study.

Although epidemiological studies revealed a relationship between psychosocial states, such as depressive symptoms, and nutritional intake, limited information is currently available on vitamin intake. The Short Form-36 Health Survey (SF-36) is not limited to a specific disease, it is constructed based on a universal concept of health and is used to evaluate the Quality of life (QOL). A three-component scoring method was developed for "Physical component score (PCS)", "Mental component score (MCS)", and "Role/social score (RCS)".

Estimation of the Periodontal Inflamed Surface Area by Simple Oral Examination.

The periodontal inflamed surface area (PISA) is a useful index for clinical and epidemiological assessments, since it can represent the inflammation status of patients in one contentious variable. However, calculation of the PISA is difficult, requiring six point probing depth measurements with or without bleeding on probing on 28 teeth, followed by data input in a calculation program. More simple methods are essential for screening periodontal disease or in epidemiological studies.

Objective: Pretreatment of J774.1 cells with etidronate, a non-nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate (non-NBP) used as an antibone resorptive drug, was previously reported to inhibit Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2 agonist-induced proinflammatory cytokine production. The present study aimed to examine the effects of etidronate on chemokine production by human monocytic U937 cells incubated with PamCys-Ser-(Lys) (PamCSK, a TLR2 ligand) and lipid A (a TLR4 ligand).

Intracellular zinc-dependent TAS2R8 gene expression through CTCF activation.

Taste-2 receptors (TAS2Rs), which belong to the G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) family, are receptors for bitter taste perception. The aim of this study was to investigate whether zinc deficiency affects the expression of TAS2R genes. The promoter activity of the TAS2R7, TAS2R8, and TAS2R42 genes were determined in Ca9-22 oral squamous cell carcinoma cells cultured in the presence or absence of zinc.

A Successful Treatment Regimen for the Prevention of Sinusitis after Maxillary Sinus Floor Elevation Surgery in a High-Risk Case.

Maxillary sinus floor elevation (sinus lift) is a widely recognized dental-surgical approach for dental implant placement. However, for an otorhinolaryngological high-risk patient with severe anatomic-structural impairments of the maxillary sinus drainage pathway, surgical intervention is recommended before sinus lift to avoid postsinus lift maxillary sinusitis. Here, we show a case that postsinus lift maxillary sinusitis in such a high-risk patient was noninvasively prevented by the collaboration of otorhinolaryngologist and dentist.

Relationship between Autistic Traits and Nutrient Intake among Japanese Children and Adolescents.

Increased food selectivity among children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may lead to nutritional inadequacy. The present study examined differences in nutrient intake between children and adolescents with and without ASD. We utilized cross-sectional data from the ongoing population Shika Town rural Japanese study.

RANK-RANKL signaling upregulates Il-10 mRNA expression in mucosal Candida infection in vivo.

Osteoprotegerin (OPG) prevents binding of receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand (RANKL) to RANK. Recent studies have reported that immune cell RANK-RANKL interactions are critical to the infection process. Candida albicans is an opportunistic pathogenic fungus and a common cause of candidiasis.

This study aimed to assess the effects of MPMBP on the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines by the macrophage-like cell line, J774.1, in the presence of Toll-like receptor (TLR) agonists.
