Importance: Patients with breast cancer residing in socioeconomically disadvantaged communities often face poorer outcomes (eg, mortality) compared with individuals living in neighborhoods without persistent poverty.
Objective: To examine persistent neighborhood poverty and breast tumor characteristics, surgical treatment, and mortality.
Design, Setting, And Participants: A retrospective cohort analysis of women aged 18 years or older diagnosed with stage I to III breast cancer between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2018, and followed up until December 31, 2020, was conducted.

Purpose Of Review: To review the current management of the axilla in breast cancer.
Recent Findings: Axillary dissection is no longer indicated in patients with clinically node-negative axilla with 1-2 positive sentinel lymph nodes following upfront surgery or in patients with clinically node-negative axilla following neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Breast cancer has evolved away from routine axillary clearance to the less invasive sentinel lymph node biopsy to now complete omission of axillary sampling in select patients.

Purpose: Pelvic recurrence is a frequent pattern of relapse for women with endometrial cancer. A randomized trial compared progression-free survival (PFS) after treatment with radiation therapy alone as compared with concurrent chemotherapy.
Materials And Methods: Between February 2008 and August 2020, 165 patients were randomly assigned 1:1 to receive either radiation treatment alone or a combination of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Background And Objectives: Given persistent racial disparities in breast cancer outcomes, this study explores racial differences in disease-specific mortality and surgical management among patients with microinvasive ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS-MI).
Methods: The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program was queried for patients aged 18+ years with DCIS-MI between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2018. The study cohort was divided into non-Hispanic Black (NHB) and non-Hispanic White (NHW) patients.

Background: A large proportion of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) presents with synchronous colorectal liver metastases (sCRLM) at diagnosis. Surgical approaches for patients with sCRLM have evolved over the past decades. Simultaneous resection (SR) of CRC and sCRLM for selected patients has emerged as a safe and efficient alternative approach to traditional staged resections.

Objectives: To define consensus entrustable professional activities (EPAs) for neurocritical care (NCC) advanced practice providers (APPs), establish validity evidence for the EPAs, and evaluate factors that inform entrustment expectations of NCC APP supervisors.
Design: A three-round modified Delphi consensus process followed by application of the EQual rubric and assessment of generalizability by clinicians not affiliated with academic medical centers.
Setting: Electronic surveys.

Background: Multivisceral resection of retroperitoneal liposarcoma (LPS) is associated with increased morbidity and may not confer a survival benefit compared with tumor-only (TO) resection. We compared both approaches using a novel statistical method called the "win ratio" (WR).
Methods: Patients who underwent resection of LPS from 2004 to 2015 were identified from the National Cancer Database.
Purpose: Aromatase inhibitor (AI) therapy reduces risk of recurrence and death for postmenopausal women with breast cancer (BC); however, AI-induced arthralgia (AIIA) can lead to discontinuation of treatment. Curcumin, a bioactive polyphenolic substance, may help ameliorate inflammation-related conditions including osteoarthritis and pain.
Methods: We conducted a multisite randomized placebo-controlled, double-blind pilot trial (Alliance A22_Pilot9) to evaluate the effects of nanoemulsion curcumin (NEC, 200 mg/day) in postmenopausal women experiencing AIIA for ≥ 3 months.

Purpose Of Review: Update on current racial disparities in the detection and treatment of breast cancer.
Recent Findings: Breast cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death among Black and Hispanic women. Mammography rates among Black and Hispanic women have surpassed those among White women, with studies now advocating for earlier initiation of breast cancer screening in Black women.

Background: Thoracic duct leaks occur in up to 5% of left lateral neck dissections. No one imaging modality is routinely used to identify the thoracic duct intraoperatively. The goal of our study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of indocyanine green lymphangiography for intraoperative identification of the thoracic duct compared to traditional methods using ambient and evaluate the optimal timing of indocyanine green administration.

Background: We sought to assess the overall benefit of laparoscopic versus open hepatectomy for treatment of colorectal liver metastases (CRLMs) using the win ratio, a novel methodological approach.
Methods: CRLM patients undergoing curative-intent resection in 2001-2018 were identified from an international multi-institutional database. Patients were paired and matched based on age, number and size of lesions, lymph node status and receipt of preoperative chemotherapy.

Background: The use of contralateral prophylactic mastectomy (CPM) has increased over the last two decades with variations in the frequency of reconstruction. The objective of this cohort study is to elucidate the use of CPM and reconstruction among underrepresented racial and ethnic groups and women over 65 years.
Methods: Women over 18 years, diagnosed with stages I to III breast cancer who underwent mastectomy from 2004-2017 were identified in the National Cancer Database (NCDB) and grouped into CPM non-CPM.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fourth most common malignancy worldwide and exhibits a universal burden as the incidence of the disease continues to rise. In addition to curative-intent therapies such as liver resection and transplantation, locoregional and systemic therapy options also exist. However, existing treatments carry a dismal prognosis, often plagued with high recurrence and mortality.

Background: Mucinous cystic neoplasms of the liver (MCN-L) including biliary cystadenomas (BCA) and biliary cystadenocarcinomas (BCAC) are rare cystic lesions that comprise less than 5% of all liver cysts and affect only a small subset of individuals. We herein review the current evidence regarding the clinical presentation, imaging characteristics, tumor markers, pathological findings, clinical management, and prognosis of MCN-L.
Methods: A comprehensive review of the literature was performed using MEDLINE/Pubmed and Web of Science databases.

Background: This study aimed to assess contemporary knowledge, attitudes and behaviors around transfusion of intraoperative salvaged blood (sRBCt) during hepato-pancreatico-biliary (HPB) operations. Findings are meant to inform the design of future studies that address provider concerns to change behaviors and improve patient outcomes.
Methods: A survey was designed and assessed for relevance, readability and content, and distributed to an international audience of surgeons performing HPB operations.

Background: Standard first-line chemotherapy for endometrial cancer is paclitaxel plus carboplatin. The benefit of adding pembrolizumab to chemotherapy remains unclear.
Methods: In this double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, phase 3 trial, we assigned 816 patients with measurable disease (stage III or IVA) or stage IVB or recurrent endometrial cancer in a 1:1 ratio to receive pembrolizumab or placebo along with combination therapy with paclitaxel plus carboplatin.

Background: Radioembolization (RE) with 90Yttrium (Y90) has generally been used to treat patients with advanced disease. Recent data suggest, however, that RE is also safe and feasible to treat patients with early or intermediate stage disease. We herein review the current evidence regarding the use of RE with Y90 for patients with HCC.
