Introduction: Developmental disorders (DDs) affect approximately 1 in 6 children in the United States. Early identification and treatment improve developmental outcomes and child and family functioning. Disparities exist in the diagnosis of DD that leads to inequitable access to developmental services during important periods of neuroplasticity.

Background: Alloprimed antibody-suppressor CXCR5CD8 T cells (CD8 T cells) downregulate alloantibody production, mediate cytotoxicity of IgG B cells, and prolong allograft survival. The purpose of this investigation was to determine which immune-cell subsets are susceptible to CD8 T cell-mediated cytotoxicity or noncytotoxic suppression.

Methods: Alloprimed immune-cell subsets were evaluated for susceptibility to CD8 T cell-mediated in vitro cytotoxicity and/or suppression of intracellular cytokine expression.

The surge of flexible, biointegrated electronics has inspired continued research efforts in designing and developing chip-less and wireless devices as soft and mechanically compliant interfaces to the living systems. In recent years, innovations in materials, devices, and systems have been reported to address challenges surrounding this topic to empower their reliable operation for monitoring physiological signals. This perspective provides a brief overview of recent works reporting various chip-less electronics for sensing and actuation in diverse application scenarios.

Open Ankle Injury without Associated Fracture or Dislocation Requiring Surgical Intervention: A Case Report.

Introduction: Bony and ligamentous ankle injuries are some of the most commonly treated injuries by orthopedic surgeons. Open ligamentous ankle injuries without an associated fracture or dislocation are rare and to our knowledge have only sparsely been described in the literature. We present a case and successful treatment of an open lateral ankle injury with capsular rupture and ligamentous damage without fracture or dislocation in a 22-year-old female.

Diagnosis and Treatment of a Forearm Glomangioma: A Case Study.

Introduction: Glomangiomas are rare vascular tumors derived from the vascular component of glomus bodies. Because glomus bodies play an important role in thermoregulation in the digits of the hand and foot, glomus tumors predominantly arise in these locations. Only six incidents of glomangiomas have arisen in the forearm since 1991.

Background: Whether improvements in cardiovascular health (CVH) in midlife mitigate cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in patients with diabetes remains underexplored.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to examine the relationships between changes in CVH during midlife and subsequent risks of CVD events and all-cause mortality among individuals with and without diabetes.

Methods: The study utilized data from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study.

Incidental finding of levocardia with situs inversus: case report.

"Situs inversus with levocardia" refers to the mirror-image lateral orientation of the abdominal organs with a normally oriented, left-sided heart. This anatomical anomaly arises from abnormalities in the biochemical signaling systems mediating embryological development. We present a case of situs inversus with levocardia incidentally discovered in a healthy 24-year-old male during workup following a motor vehicle collision.

Sequence of Chemotherapy May Not Impact Survival After Resection of Pancreatic Tail Adenocarcinoma.

Introduction: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) of the body/tail is notably different than PDAC in the head of the pancreas. Surgery plus chemotherapy is known to improve outcomes for all PDAC. The sequence of this therapy is well studied in head cancers yet has never been evaluated systematically in relation to distal pancreatectomy (DP).

ECB-WQ: A Long-Term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR)-Eastern Corn Belt node field-scale water quality dataset.

The Eastern Corn Belt (ECB) node of the Long-Term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) network is representative of row crop agricultural production systems in the poorly drained, humid regions of the US Midwest and a significant focus for addressing water quantity and quality concerns affecting Lake Erie and the Gulf of Mexico. The objectives of this paper were to (1) present relevant background information and collection methodology, (2) provide summary analyses of measured data, and (3) provide details for accessing the dataset and discuss potential database applications. The ECB-water quality (ECB-WQ) database is comprised of hydrology and water quality data from three privately owned farms in Northwest Ohio and Northeast Indiana and is available for download through the United States Department of Agriculture Ag Data Commons.

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a rare genetic disease that causes developmental delays, intellectual impairment, constant hunger, obesity, endocrine dysfunction, and various behavioral and neuropsychiatric abnormalities. Standard care of PWS is limited to strict supervision of food intake and growth hormone therapy, highlighting the unmet need for new therapeutic strategies. Environmental enrichment (EE), a housing environment providing physical, social, and cognitive stimulations, exerts broad benefits on mental and physical health.

What Matters in Psoriatic Arthritis: A Comparison of Patient and Clinician Perspectives.

Objective: This study aimed to expand the understanding of the patient with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) experience and to compare/contrast patient and clinician prioritization of PsA dimensions.

Methods: We conducted four patients with PsA focus groups across three US rheumatology practices using mixed methods to identify attributes of PsA important to patients. Combination with extant attributes of PsA identified by a steering committee created a comprehensive list of attributes.

Segmental colectomy versus total proctocolectomy for ulcerative colitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Aim: Total proctocolectomy (TPC) is the standard of care for patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) and dysplasia not amenable to endoscopic management. However, the risks of an extensive resection may outweigh the benefits in high-risk surgical patients. Therefore, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess postoperative outcomes between segmental colectomy (SEG) versus TPC in patients with UC.

The outcomes are publicly available and used by insurance payers and patients to assess the performance of a programme. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate whether use of period- or fertility-tracking technologies decreased from pre- to post-Dobbs, and to identify user characteristics and changes in reasons for use.

Study Design: We used data from the Surveys of Women, population-based surveys on reproductive health among self-identified women aged 18-44 years, conducted in five states. We compared prevalence of use of period- or fertility-tracking technologies and reasons for use pre-Dobbs (2018-2019 in Iowa and Ohio; 2019-2020 in Arizona, New Jersey, and Wisconsin) and post-Dobbs (2022-2023 in all five states), overall and stratified by state.

Safety and efficacy of valoctocogene roxaparvovec with prophylactic glucocorticoids: 1-year results from the phase 3b, single-arm, open-label GENEr8-3 study.

Background: Valoctocogene roxaparvovec, an adeno-associated virus vector that transfers a human factor VIII (FVIII) coding sequence to hepatocytes, provides bleeding protection for people with severe hemophilia A (HA).

Objective: Determine the efficacy and safety of valoctocogene roxaparvovec with concomitant prophylactic glucocorticoids in the open-label, single-arm, phase 3b GENEr8-3 trial.

Methods: Participants with severe HA who were using HA prophylaxis received one 6x10 vg/kg infusion of valoctocogene roxaparvovec concomitantly with daily prophylactic glucocorticoids (40 mg prednisolone equivalent/d weeks 0‒8; taper to 5 mg/d weeks 9‒19).

Comparison of removal of intestinal foreign bodies using orogastric retrieval techniques versus gastrotomies in dogs and cats.

Objectives: The objective of the study is to describe a surgical technique of intestinal foreign body retrieval without gastrotomy using an endoscopic grasper and digital manipulation, and to compare short-term outcomes with patients who had similar obstructive intestinal foreign bodies removed via gastrotomy.

Materials And Methods: Medical records of dogs and cats with intestinal foreign bodies that underwent treatment with either the orogastric retrieval technique or gastrotomy between November 2021 and July 2023 were extracted. A comparison of the short-term outcomes was performed between the techniques.

Spotted fever group rickettsiae in black rats, pets, and humans in Zungarococha community, A rural area in the surroundings of Iquitos, Peru.

Rickettsiae are a family of ectoparasite-borne bacteria that can produce high morbidity and mortality among humans. There are scarce data on rickettsial ecology in rural areas of the Peruvian Amazon basin, where seroprevalence has not been determined, and the identities of animals acting as reservoirs of these bacteria are not known. We conducted a cross-sectional study in Zungarococha (between 2019 and 2021), a rural community located approximately 20 km away from Iquitos city.

Opioid use disorder prevalence in 57 New York counties from 2017 to 2019: A Bayesian evidence synthesis.

Introduction: Prevalence estimates of opioid use disorder (OUD) at local levels are critical for public health planning and surveillance, yet largely unavailable across the US especially at the local county level.

Methods: We used a Bayesian evidence synthesis approach to estimate the prevalence of OUD for 57 counties across New York State for 2017-2019 and compare rates of OUD across counties as well as assess the extent of undiagnosed OUD. We developed a generative model to assess conditional probabilistic relations between different subgroups of the OUD population defined by diagnosis, treatment, and overdose fatality.

3D printed titanium banana interbody cages versus titanium-coated PEEK bullet cages for TLIF.

Introduction: Lumbar degenerative spinal disease is a common, major cause of pain and disability. Titanium and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) are popular materials for interbody implants although evidence is mixed on which material is superior in terms of fusion and subsidence. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcome of 3D printed titanium (3DPT) cages in patients undergoing TLIFs, as well as complication profiles based on widely used outcome metrics and reoperation events.

Preclinical evaluation of the efficacy and safety of AAV8-TNAP-D10 in Alpl-/- and AlplPrx1/Prx1 mouse models for the treatment of early and late-onset hypophosphatasia.

We previously documented successful resolution of skeletal and dental disease in the infantile and late-onset murine models of hypophosphatasia (HPP), with a single injection of an adeno-associated serotype 8 vector encoding mineral-targeted TNAP (AAV8-TNAP-D10). Here, we conducted dosing studies in both HPP mouse models. A single escalating dose from 4x108 up to 4x1010 (vg/b) was intramuscularly injected into 4-day-old Alpl-/- mice (an infantile HPP model) and a single dose from 4x106 up to 4x109 (vg/b) was administered to 8-week-old AlplPrx1/Prx1 mice (a late-onset HPP model).

High-Frequency Ultrasound for Detecting Periodontal Inflammation: A Preclinical Diagnostic Accuracy Study.

Aim: Ultrasonography (US) has shown accuracy in imaging healthy periodontium. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of US for estimating dimensions of inflamed periodontium induced by ligature and bacteria.

Methods: Periodontal tissues of maxillary as well as mandibular premolars and molars in six female mini pigs were treated with ligature and three strains of bacteria for 4-10 weeks.
