Multicentric Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of Bilateral Eyelids.

Ophthalmic Plast Reconstr Surg

January 2025

Ophthalmic Surgeons and Consultants of Ohio, Eye Center of Columbus, Columbus, Ohio.

A 59-year-old female patient presented with a purple, fluid-filled lesion on her left upper eyelid that contained a solid component. Excisional biopsy revealed a diagnosis of mucinous adenocarcinoma. Extensive oncological workup was negative for a distant primary tumor or metastasis and confirmed a diagnosis of primary mucinous adenocarcinoma.

The first ground-state rotational spectrum of 3-methylstyrene (3MS) was measured by Fourier transform microwave spectroscopy under supersonic jet-cooled conditions. Transitions were assigned for two conformers: cis-3MS and trans-3MS. In the cis conformer, the vinyl group is oriented toward the methyl group, while in the trans conformer, it is positioned away from the methyl.

Background: Patients with prior history of chest or mediastinal radiation are deemed high risk for surgical AVR. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has emerged as a promising alternative for these patients, however, this patient population was underrepresented in prior TAVR trials.

Aims: To compare the outcomes of TAVR in patients with versus without a history of prior chest or mediastinal radiation.

Three new hexagonal perovskites with CsMMRhCl (M = Na, Ag; M = Mn, Fe) stoichiometry have been synthesized from solution precipitation reactions. These air-stable compounds crystallize as triply cation-ordered variants of the 6H perovskite structure. This structure contains octahedra that share a common face to form MRhCl dimers that are arranged on a two-dimensional triangular network.

Primary Hypertrophic Osteoarthropathy (PHOAR1) is characterized by autosomal recessive loss of function variants in 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (HPGD) leading to digital clubbing, periostosis, pachydermia, and severe hyperhidrosis. HPGD catalyzes the first step of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) degradation. Selective COX-2 inhibitors have proved beneficial in adults, though it is unknown if early initiation of COX-2 inhibitors can alter the natural history of PHOAR1.

Co-methylation networks associated with cognition and structural brain development during adolescence.

Front Genet

January 2025

Tri-Institutional Center for Translational Research in Neuroimaging and Data Science (TReNDS): (Georgia State University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Emory University), Atlanta, GA, United States.

Introduction: Typical adolescent neurodevelopment is marked by decreases in grey matter (GM) volume, increases in myelination, measured by fractional anisotropy (FA), and improvement in cognitive performance.

Methods: To understand how epigenetic changes, methylation (DNAm) in particular, may be involved during this phase of development, we studied cognitive assessments, DNAm from saliva, and neuroimaging data from a longitudinal cohort of normally developing adolescents, aged nine to fourteen. We extracted networks of methylation with patterns of correlated change using a weighted gene correlation network analysis (WCGNA).

Background: Prepancreatic postduodenal portal vein (PPPV) is a rare anatomic variant where the portal vein (PV) runs anterior to the pancreas and posterior to the duodenum. Only 20 cases of PPPV, all in adults, have been reported in literature. We report the first case of PPPV in a pediatric patient discovered intraoperatively during total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation (TPIAT) and the third known case in which the PPPV could be isolated intraoperatively.

Crossmodal correspondences, or widely shared tendencies for mapping experiences across sensory domains, are revealed in common descriptors of musical timbre such as , , and . Two experiments are reported in which participants listened to recordings of musical instruments playing major scales, selected colors to match the timbres, and rated the timbres on crossmodal semantic scales. Experiment A used three different keyboard instruments, each played in three pitch registers.

Background: Home health agencies (HHAs) provide vital community-based services for older adults. Under-resourced HHAs that are disconnected from broader community emergency planning efforts may struggle to maintain services during emergencies. As climate-related disasters become more prevalent, HHA services are increasingly at risk, and policymakers have focused on the services they provide to older adults.

We examined whether neighborhood-level socioeconomic disadvantage per the Area Deprivation Index (ADI) was associated with maternal cardiovascular health (CVH) in early pregnancy per the American Heart Association Life's Essential 8 (LE8). This is a cross-sectional analysis from the prospective Nulliparous Pregnancy Outcomes Study-Monitoring Mothers-to-Be Heart Health Study (nuMoM2b-HHS) cohort. The exposure was the ADI in tertiles (T) from least (T1) to most (T3) socioeconomic disadvantage.

Background And Purpose: The central vein sign (CVS) is a diagnostic imaging biomarker for multiple sclerosis (MS). FLAIR* is a combined MRI contrast that provides high conspicuity for CVS at 3 Tesla (3T), enabling its sensitive and accurate detection in clinical settings. This study evaluated whether CVS conspicuity of 3T FLAIR* is reliable across imaging sites and MRI vendors and whether gadolinium (Gd) contrast increases CVS conspicuity.

Background: Plants often shift their phenology in response to climate warming, with potentially important ecological consequences. Relative differences in the abilities of native and nonnative plants to track warming temperatures by adjusting their phenologies could have cascading consequences for ecosystems. Our general understanding of nonnative species leads us to believe these species may be more phenologically sensitive than native species, but evidence for this has been mixed, likely due, in part, to the myriad of diverse ecological contexts in which nonnatives have been studied.

Healthy lifestyle behaviors play a significant role in promoting cardiovascular health. Primary care clinicians (PCCs) are tasked with promoting cardiovascular health through the assessment of lifestyle behaviors and the use of behavior change counseling. However, PCCs face several barriers including a lack of training in counseling techniques.

Measurement of volumetric wear of printed polymer resin and milled polymer infused ceramic network definitive restorative materials.

J Prosthet Dent

January 2025

Associate Professor and Director of Student Research, Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry, College of Dentistry, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. Electronic address:

Statement Of Problem: Currently there is no regulatory requirement or international standard for the wear resistance of dental materials and therefore no need to test prior to market launch.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate and compare the total volumetric wear characteristics of milled polymer infiltrated ceramic network (MPICN) and printed polymer resin (PPR) as substrates opposing five antagonists, human enamel (EN), lithium disilicate (LD), zirconia (ZR), MPICN, and PPR, and to evaluate and compare the volumetric wear of these same materials as antagonists.

Material And Methods: Ten of each antagonist for a total of 50 EN, LD (IPS e.

Hereditary vitreoretinopathies (HVRs), also known as hereditary vitreoretinal degenerations comprise a heterogeneous group of inherited disorders of the retina and vitreous, collectively and variably characterised by vitreal abnormalities, such as fibrillary condensations, liquefaction or membranes, as well as peripheral retinal abnormalities, vascular changes in some, an increased risk of retinal detachment and early-onset cataract formation. The pathology often involves the vitreoretinal interface in some, while the major underlying abnormality is vascular in others. Recent advances in molecular diagnosis and identification of the responsible genes and have improved our understanding of the pathogenesis, risks and management of the HVRs.

Animals vary in their ability to replace body parts lost to injury, a phenomenon known as restorative regeneration. Uncovering conserved signaling steps required for regeneration may aid regenerative medicine. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are necessary for proper regeneration in species across a wide range of taxa, but it is unknown whether ROS are essential for annelid regeneration.
