Introduction And Importance: Atrial tachycardias (AT) originating from the Marshall bundle (MB) are rare and present significant challenges in diagnosis and management. The authors present the case of a 29-year-old male with recurrent AT successfully treated with a combined ethanol and radiofrequency ablation approach. This case highlights the effectiveness of this dual ablation strategy in resolving AT originating from the MB, contributing valuable insights into managing complex AT cases.

The high incidence of chronic pancreatitis (CP) which arise at young people of working age, the development of serious complications are pushing for the development of new diagnostic methods and the search for effective ways to treat this disease. In this regard, a relevant and promising direction is the further study of the mechanisms of pathogenesis and the formation of trophological (including mineral) deficiency in CP, followed by the development of comprehensive programs for their correction. is to study mineral status of patients with chronic pancreatitis, depending on their age.

Identification of a single molecular trait that is determinant of common malignancies may serve as a powerful diagnostic supplement to cancer type-specific markers. Here, we report a DNA methylation mark that is characteristic of seven studied malignancies, namely cancers of lung, breast, prostate, pancreas, colorectum, glioblastoma and B cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) (n = 137). This mark was defined by substantial hypermethylation at the promoter and first exon of growth hormone secretagouge receptor (GHSR) through bisulfite pyrosequencing.

We investigated prevalence of and knowledge about tobacco use among physicians, and their counselling of patients in the Odessa region (Ukraine). Paediatricians (40), family doctors (40) and interns (70) were selected from the physician population of the Odessa region. The proportion of smokers was unacceptably high for health care professionals: paediatricians, 32.

Recent studies demonstrate distinct changes in gene expression in cells exposed to a weak magnetic field (MF). Mechanisms of this phenomenon are not understood yet. We propose that proteins of the Cryptochrome family (CRY) are "epigenetic sensors" of the MF fluctuations, i.

The development of tolerance in rats by repeated intraperitoneal injection of 0.5 mg/kg diazepam increased the sensitivity of the frontal cortex to the epileptogenic effect of NMDA and kainic acid. The median effective dose of NMDA was shown to decrease under these conditions.

Unlabelled: Uterine leiomyoma is a most common benign neoplasm in women of reproductive age. It arises from the myometrial compartment of the uterus and may transform in some cases to a malignant phenotype.
Aim: To identify the genes involved in pathogenesis of uterine leiomyoma.

Intracerebroventricular injection of recombinant human interferon-2alpha (100-500 U/rat) decreased the mean effective dose of corasol inducing clonic convulsions in 50% kindled Wistar rats. This effect was more pronounced in delayed periods of kindling and was accompanied by enhancement of epileptiform signs on EEG.

Unlabelled: A common G/C polymorphism at position -174 of the interleukin-6 (IL-6) gene promoter is thought to affect the expression level of this gene, thus predisposing to a variety of diseases, including tumorigenesis.
Aim: To investigate the association of the -174 G/C IL-6 polymorphism with breast cancer and uterine leiomyoma in Ukrainian population.
Methods: We genotyped the -174 G/C IL-6 polymorphism in a group of healthy Ukrainians by pyrosequencing and compared the results to those previously published for other Caucasian populations.

Aim: To identify clinically significant molecular markers of endometrial cancer.
Materials And Methods: Cancer and normal endometrial tissue samples from 20 patients of the Gynecology Clinic of Odessa State Medical University (Odessa, Ukraine) with confirmed endometrial cancer were compared for SSR and ISSR polymorphisms. Identified polymorphic fragments from anonymous genome regions situated between microsatellite repeats underwent direct DNA sequencing; analysis of their homology to sequences from human genome database has been performed.
Dysfunction of the hypothalamus causes a significant polymorphism of the clinical symptomatology of diseases of the hypothalamic-pituitary system, associated with an excess or deficiency of pituitary hormones and the corresponding hyper- or hypofunction of the peripheral endocrine glands. In particular, a violation of the integrity of the hypothalamic-neurohypophysial tract, synthesis, transportation, and release of vasopressin leads to disorders of the water balance in the form of central diabetes insipidus. In 15-30% of all cases of diabetes insipidus, its primary (idiopathic) forms are detected.

Understanding the molecular epidemiology of tuberculosis (TB) and mutations in genes associated with drug resistance may contribute to the development of appropriate interventions to improve tuberculosis control. A structured questionnaire was used to collect basic epidemiological data from 589 patients with radiologically confirmed TB in the Odessa and Nikolaev regions of the Ukraine in 2003-2004. A non-commercial reverse hybridisation assay and DNA sequencing were used to detect mutations associated with rifampicin and isoniazid resistance.

In WAG/Rij rats the pair linear correlation r was calculated for bipolar recordings in fronto-temporal, fronto-occipital and occipito-temporal zones of both hemispheres as well as in paleocerebellar cortex (culmen). It was shown that development of SWD bursts resulted in interhemispheric decreases of correlation between the right occipito-temporal cortical region on one side, and left fronto-temporal on the contralateral side. Towards the end of SWD, we found an increased interhemispheric correlation between left fronto-temporal and right fronto-occipital cortical zones, as well as, between both fronto-temporal zones.

Cells exposed to low oxygen conditions respond by initiating defense mechanisms, including the stabilization of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) 1alpha, a transcription factor that upregulates genes such as those involved in angiogenesis and glycolysis, which also plays a pivotal role in the regulation of cellular utilization of oxygen and is an essential regulator of angiogenesis in solid tumor and ischemic disorders. Nitric oxide and other inhibitors of mitochondrial respiration prevent the stabilization of HIF-1alpha during hypoxia. In the present study we found that nitric oxide inhibits HIF-1alpha accumulation under low oxygen (1%) conditions.

In experiment on model of the lipidemia in rats the efficiency of new antioxidant drug "Vitalong" was studied. The researches have shown that the drug brakes derivation of free radicals, increases activity of a superoxide scavenger, has antiinflammatory and adaptogenic operation. Vitalong prevents activation of serumal elastasa, locking thus destructive link of the atherogenesis.

The results of the research, which are carried out according to two international programs on studying and prevention of the sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), are submitted in the article. The features of ante- and perinatal periods, characteristics of obstetric history of the mothers of deceased babies are analyzed, the relative risk of SIDS development is estimated at the influence of a complex of factors. High parity, young age of mother at the time of delivery, poor antenatal care, preterm delivery, intrauterine fetal growth retardation, fast delivery, alcohol and coffee abuse by a mother, smoking during pregnancy, early change of the child's feeding from breast to bottle are referred to the most significant risk factors of SIDS stipulated by the unfavorable course of pregnancy and delivery.
