Background And Purpose: Radiation induced image changes (IC) on MRI have been observed after proton therapy for brain tumours. This study aims to create predictive models, with and without taking into account patient variation, based on dose, linear energy transfer (LET) and periventricular zone (PVZ) in a national cohort of patients with glioma treated with pencil beam scanning (PBS).
Materials And Methods: A cohort of 87 consecutive patients with oligodendroglioma or astrocytoma (WHO grade 2-4) treated with PBS from January 2019 to December 2021 was included.

Background: Cardiogenic shock complicating acute myocardial infarction is associated with a high mortality rate. Cardiogenic shock after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) can be due to transient myocardial stunning but also reflect the increasing severity of ongoing heart failure. The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) proposed a division of cardiogenic shock into 5 phenotypes, with cardiac arrest being a modifier.

Objectives: This study aimed to characterize the demographic and clinical features of patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) post-surgery for localized or locally advanced disease in a national Danish cohort, with a specific focus on describing recurrence patterns in a subgroup aligned with the adjuvant KEYNOTE-564 trial classification.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of the Danish Renal Cancer (DaRenCa) database. Eligible subjects were individuals with an RCC diagnosis between January 2014 and December 2017 who subsequently underwent radical or partial nephrectomy.

Increasing recognition of germline variants in patients with hematological malignancies prompted us to provide -specific recommendations for diagnosis, surveillance, and treatment. Causative germline variants in the predispose to the development of myeloid neoplasms (MNs), especially myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Almost 3%-5% of all patients with MDS or AML carry a pathogenic or likely pathogenic germline variant, while half of them acquire a somatic second hit in the other allele.

Background: Thresholds of aortic valve calcification (AVC) to define hemodynamically moderate aortic stenosis (AS) from mild are lacking. We aimed to establish a novel grading classification of AVC as quantified by computed tomography and determine its prognostic value.
Methods And Results: This study included 915 patients with at least mild AS (mean age 70±12 years, 30% women) from a multicenter prospective registry.
Background: Chronic scrotal pain is a common condition with a prevalence of 2.5-4.8% in male outpatients.

This study aimed to explore electrical impedance patterns during bone healing using electrical impedance spectroscopy in 18 rabbits subjected to tibial fracture stabilised with an external fixator.
Methods: Impedance was measured daily across the fracture site at a frequency range of 5 Hz to 1 MHz.

Fever of unknown origin (FUO) continues to be a challenging diagnosis in clinical medicine. It has more than 200 known causes, including infections, autoimmune diseases, neoplasia, and other miscellaneous disorders. Despite the development of a wide range of diagnostic tools, a specific diagnostic algorithm for FUO is not yet available.

Although sex-specific 99th percentile thresholds of troponins are recommended in international guidelines, the clinical effect of their use is poorly investigated. The DANSPOT Study (The Danish Study of Sex- and Population-Specific 99th percentile upper reference limits of Troponin) aims to evaluate the clinical effect of a prospective implementation of population- and sex-specific diagnostic thresholds of troponins into clinical practice.

LM is the recommended standard of care in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM) after high-dose melphalan and autologous stem cell transplantation (HDM-ASCT). In Denmark, LM has been approved and publicly funded for all patients treated with HDM-ASCT since June 2019.

However, survivors managed with ECPR are at risk of poor functional status. The purpose of this study was to investigate return to work (RTW) after refractory OHCA.

Lymphoid malignancies are characterized by clonal cell expansion, often identifiable by unique immunoglobulin rearrangements. Heavy (IGH) and light-chain gene usage offers diagnostic insights and enables sensitive residual disease detection via next-generation sequencing. With its adaptable throughput and variable read lengths, Oxford Nanopore thirdgeneration sequencing now holds promise for clonotyping.

Background And Aims: Insulin resistance (IR) and pre-diabetes are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). We aimed to investigate vulnerable plaque composition in relation to IR and pre-diabetes in asymptomatic non-diabetic men.
Methods: All participants underwent a contrast-enhanced coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) to evaluate coronary artery plaque burden and plaque composition (necrotic core, dense calcium, fibrotic and fibrous-fatty volume).

Objective: The objective of this study is to characterize bladder mucosal trauma associated with intermittent catheterization with conventional eyelet catheters (CECs) and to assess if a microhole zone catheter (MHZC) design concept reduces this adverse effect.
Materials And Methods: A porcine model was developed to reflect human catheterization and bladder drainage. Nine pigs were randomized for catheterization with CEC ( = 6) or MHZC ( = 3).

Background: The urine Determine LAM test has the potential to identify tuberculosis (TB) and reduce early mortality among people living with HIV. However, implementation of the test in practice has been slow. We aimed to understand how a Determine LAM intervention was received and worked in a Ghanaian in-hospital context.

Treatment with recombinant human PTH (rhPTH) may normalize bone turnover. This study aimed to investigate whether rhPTH(1-84) continued to activate intracortical bone remodeling after 30 months and promoted the transition from erosion to formation and whether this effect was transitory when rhPTH(1-84) was discontinued.

Clinical studies indicate that microvascular disease (MVD) affects bone microstructure and decreases bone strength in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D). Osteocytes are housed in small voids within the bone matrix and lacunae and act as sensors of mechanical forces in bone. These cells regulate osteoclastic bone resorption and osteoblastic bone formation as well as osteocytic perilacunar remodeling.

The incidence of major osteoporotic fractures has declined in men and women in Western countries over the last two decades. Although fracture risk is higher in persons with diabetes mellitus, trends of fractures remain unknown in men and women with diabetes. We investigated the trends in fracture incidence rates (IRs) in men and women with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) in Denmark between 1997 and 2017.

Pomalidomide-dexamethasone (Pd) has been a standard care treatment for relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma since 2013. However, the outcomes of Pd after exposure to CD38 antibodies are not known. Here we describe the real-world use and efficacy of pomalidomide in a Danish, nationwide cohort of daratumumab-exposed patients.
