Background: Two arms with FOLFIRI, with or without cetuximab, were initially included in the randomized phase III intergroup clinical trial NCCTG (North Central Cancer Treatment Group) N0147. When other contemporary trials demonstrated no benefit to using irinotecan as adjuvant therapy, the FOLFIRI-containing arms were discontinued. We report the clinical outcomes for patients randomized to FOLFIRI with or without cetuximab.

- - The study focused on patients with liver-only metastases from colorectal cancer, aiming to evaluate the effects of hepatic artery infusion (HAI) combined with systemic therapy after surgical resection.
- - Results showed that of 49 patients, median disease-free survival was 1.2 years, with some patients surviving over 5.5 years, despite many having aggressive disease characteristics.
- - Although the HAI approach indicated potential improvement in survival outcomes compared to past treatments, the overall effectiveness does not justify its continued use due to the development of better systemic chemotherapy options.
