SARS-CoV-2 can induce a hypercoagulable state, occasionally resulting in pulmonary venous thrombosis (PVT) due to inflammation and endothelial injury. Documented cases of PVT with active COVID-19 and post-COVID are rare. We report a 40-year-old postpartum female with unprovoked PVT following a recent nonhospitalized COVID-19 infection.

In our case report, a 29-year-old male patient with a known history of schizophrenia presented with altered mental status and catatonia and was found to have an enlarged (21mm) cavum septum pellucidum (CSP) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He was subsequently treated with escitalopram, olanzapine, methylphenidate, lorazepam, and eight electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) treatments during his hospital course, after which his catatonia improved. We compared this to other cases in which a large CSP was identified and discussed the possibility of increased susceptibility to psychosis, specifically catatonia, which might be associated with this developmental anomaly.

The savory or umami taste of the amino acid glutamate is synergistically enhanced by the addition of the purines inosine 5'-monophosphate (IMP) and guanosine 5'-monophosphate (GMP) disodium salt. We hypothesized that the addition of purinergic ribonucleotides, along with the pyrimidine ribonucleotides, would decrease the absolute detection threshold of (increase sensitivity to) l-glutamic acid potassium salt (MPG). To test this, we measured both the absolute detection threshold of MPG alone and with a background level (3 mM) of 5 different 5'-ribonucleotides.

Pseudocyesis is a complex psychiatric manifestation of the physical symptoms of pregnancy. Although not pregnant, the pseudocyetic patient displays signs and symptoms consistent with pregnancy, such as abdominal distention, cramping, and/or sensations of fetal movement. Pseudocyesis is more common in developing countries than in the developed world, possibly due to the importance that traditional societies attach to childbearing and the low social status that these societies assign to women who are unable to produce children.
