Background: Sepsis is regarded as a dysregulated immune response to infections. Recent study showed partially reversal of immunosuppression by trained immunity, which fosters an enhanced immune response towards a secondary challenge. However, the role of trained immunity in sepsis has not been fully understood.

Prenatal cell-free DNA (cfDNA) screening has advanced significantly, extending beyond detecting aneuploidies to sub-chromosomal copy number variations. However, its application for screening dominant single-gene conditions, often caused by de novo variants, remains underutilized in the general obstetric population. This study reviews recent data and experience on prenatal cfDNA screening for dominant monogenic conditions using multiple-gene panels, highlighting its potential to enhance early detection and management of genetic disorders.

Introduction: Degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS) often causes various issues such as neural symptoms and osteoporosis (OP). Vertebral bone quality (VBQ) is a crucial factor that surgeons take into consider prior to surgery. However, little attention has been given to the use of VBQ in evaluating vertebral bone mass in DLS patients.

Aims: Vertebrates vary greatly in their abilities to regenerate injured hearts. Zebrafish possess a remarkable capacity for cardiac regeneration, making them an excellent model for regeneration research. Recent studies have reported the activation and underlying regulatory mechanisms of leptin b (lepb) and the leptin b-linked enhancer (LEN) in injured hearts.

Background: Ovarian cancers (OC) and cervical cancers (CC) have poor survival rates. Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) play a pivotal role in prognosis, but shared immune mechanisms remain elusive.
Methods: We integrated single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomics (ST) to explore immune regulation in OC and CC, focusing on the PI3K/AKT pathway and FLT3 as key modulators.

To investigate the correlation between uterine volume and intrauterine adhesion (IUA). From June 2018 to November 2019, totally 7 007 patients who underwent hysteroscopy in outpatient operating rooms of Gynecological Minimally Invasive Center, Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital were retrospectively analyzed Patients of reproductive age with IUA without uterine fibroids and adenomyosis were selected as IUA group, and patients of reproductive age without uterine fibroids and adenomyosis without IUA during the same period were selected as the control group. The propensity score matching (PSM) method was used to perform 1∶1 matching for the two groups of patients, matching variables included age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), gravidity, parity, and number of abortion curettage.

: Small-cell carcinoma of the ovary, hypercalcemic type (SCCOHT), is a rare and aggressive cancer with a poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Current chemotherapy regimens are predominantly platinum-based; however, the development of platinum resistance during treatment significantly worsens patient outcomes. Everolimus, an mTOR inhibitor, has been widely used in combination cancer therapies and has successfully enhanced the efficacy of platinum-based treatments.

Background: Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common extracranial malignant solid tumor in children, accounting for >15 % of cancer-related deaths in children. We analyzed the epidemiological statistical indicators of neuroblastoma and other peripheral nervous system tumors patients from 1990 to 2021 in Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 database, aiming to provide valuable insights for public health interventions and clinical practices.
Methods: Based on the GBD 2021 database, this study analyzed the incidence, mortality, prevalence, and Disability-Adjusted Life-Years (DALYs) of neuroblastoma and other peripheral nervous system tumors from 1990 to 2021, stratified by sociodemographic development index (SDI) and geographic regions.

Introduction: This study aimed to analyze the worldwide, regional burden of endometriosis and its trends from 1990 to 2019, utilizing the latest data from Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2019. GBD 2019 is a global database tool for comprehensive analysis and an important result of long-term collaboration among governments worldwide.
Methods: We utilized the Global Health Data Exchange Query tool to analyze endometriosis in prevalence numbers, age-standardized prevalence rates (ASPR), and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) from 1990 to 2019 in 204 countries and regions.

Exosomes play a role in cell communication by transporting content between cells. Here, we tested whether renal podocyte-derived exosomes affect the injury of glomerular endothelial cells in lupus nephritis (LN). We found that exosomes containing high levels of high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) were released from podocytes in patients with LN, BALB/c mice injected with pristane (which induces lupus-like disease in mice), and cultured human renal glomerular endothelial cells (HRGECs) treated with LN plasma.

Increasing evidence has shown that physical exercise remarkably inhibits oncogenesis and progression of numerous cancers and exercise-responsive microRNAs (miRNAs) exert a marked role in exercise-mediated tumor suppression. In this research, expression and prognostic values of exercise-responsive miRNAs were examined in breast cancer (BRCA) and further pan-cancer types. In addition, multiple independent public and in-house cohorts, in vitro assays involving multiple, macrophages, fibroblasts, and tumor cells, and in vivo models were utilized to uncover the tumor-suppressive roles of miR-29a-3p in cancers.

Congenital orofacial cleft, the most common birth defect in the maxillofacial region, exhibits a wide range of prognosis depending on the severity of deformity and underlying etiology. Non-syndromic congenital orofacial clefts typically present with milder deformities and more favorable treatment outcomes, whereas syndromic congenital orofacial clefts often manifest with concomitant organ abnormalities, which pose greater challenges for treatment and result in poorer prognosis. This consensus provides an elaborate classification system for varying degrees of orofacial clefts along with corresponding diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines.

Background: Cervical cytology screening and colposcopy play crucial roles in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cervical cancer prevention. Previous studies have provided evidence that artificial intelligence (AI) has remarkable diagnostic accuracy in these procedures. With this systematic review and meta-analysis, we aimed to examine the pooled accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of AI-assisted cervical cytology screening and colposcopy for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer screening.

Small-cell neuroendocrine cancer (SCNEC) of the uterine cervix is an exceedingly rare, highly aggressive tumor with an extremely poor prognosis. The cellular heterogeneity, origin, and tumorigenesis trajectories of SCNEC of the cervix remain largely unclear. We performed single-cell RNA sequencing and whole-exome sequencing on tumor tissues and adjacent normal cervical tissues from two patients diagnosed with SCNEC of the cervix.
