In the literature, many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive pregnancies have been observed, mostly with mild findings, but there is limited evidence about perinatal transition and early COVID-19 positive newborns. In this case, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction results were studied from samples obtained from the placenta, amniotic fluid, cord blood and postoperative breast milk - that were obtained while avoiding contamination and preserved appropriately - of a cesarean section performed under anesthesia on a woman with previous cesarean section and gestational diabetes mellitus history. This patient who presented to our emergency gynecology clinic with membrane rupture was infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 two weeks before delivery but was not treated as the disease was asymptomatic.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are a heterogeneous group of cell-derived submicron vesicles released under physiological or pathological conditions. EVs mediate the cellular crosstalk, thus contributing to defining the tumor microenvironment, including in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). The available literature investigating the role of EVs in EOC has been reviewed following PRISMA guidelines, focusing on the role of EVs in early disease diagnosis, metastatic spread, and the development of chemoresistance in EOC.

Objective: The relationship between sexual functions and infertility remains controversial and there is a limited number of studies reporting the effects of infertility on sexual functions in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Aims: The present study aims to investigate the effects of infertility on sexual functions and depression levels in women with PCOS.
Methods: A total of 150 participants who were either fertile patients with PCOS, infertile patients with PCOS, or fertile women without PCOS (control) (n = 50) were included for the study.

The mechanisms of the complex pathophysiology of Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) are still insufficiently clarified. The role of oxidative stress as an etiological factor has been proposed and demonstrated in vitro, but without conclusive data that rely on clinical samples. The aim of the study was to evaluate and characterize the existence of oxidative stress in the plasma of LHON patients and healthy individuals.

Vascularization and fibrosis are regulated by injury-repair system, such as wound. Thus, in this study, the authors tried to investigate the effect of the surgical treatment to ovarian surface with cutting on the functions of ovary in aging mouse model, gcKO.

Pathological analysis of ovarian cysts shows specific fluid characteristics that cannot be standardly evaluated on computer tomography (CT) examinations. This study aimed to assess the ovarian cysts' fluid attenuation values on the native (Np), arterial (Ap), and venous (Vp) contrast phases of seventy patients with ovarian cysts who underwent CT examinations and were retrospectively included in this study. Patients were divided according to their final diagnosis into the benign group ( = 32) and malignant group ( = 38; of which 27 were primary and 11 were secondary lesions).

Objective: Development of postoperative scars is often a problem. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of gel containing extract, allantoin and heparin (Contractubex, Merz Pharmaceuticals GmbH, Frankfurt, Germany) in reducing scarring after a caesarean section by comparing it with a control group, and also intra-individually, using the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS).
Method: A total of 120 patients who underwent a second elective caesarean delivery and who presented with hypertrophic scar development after their first caesarean section were included in the study.

Background: Accidental dural puncture is an uncommon complication of epidural analgesia and can cause postdural puncture headache (PDPH). We aimed to describe management practices and outcomes after PDPH treated by epidural blood patch (EBP) or no EBP.
Methods: Following ethics committee approval, patients who developed PDPH after accidental dural puncture were recruited from participating countries and divided into two groups, those receiving EBP or no EBP.

The Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) is a rare disease caused by mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations. Beside primary mutations, the effect of secondary mtDNA mutations in still unclear. We examined the effect of secondary mtDNA mutations on secondary structure of different mitochondrial RNAs.

: To assess ovarian cysts with texture analysis (TA) in magnetic resonance (MRI) images for establishing a differentiation criterion for endometriomas and functional hemorrhagic cysts (HCs) that could potentially outperform their classic MRI diagnostic features. Forty-three patients with known ovarian cysts who underwent MRI were retrospectively included (endometriomas, = 29; HCs, = 14). TA was performed using dedicated software based on T2-weighted images, by incorporating the whole lesions in a three-dimensional region of interest.

Objectives: To evaluate the relation between lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and vaginal atrophy (VA) in 518 women across the menopausal age span (40-55 years of age).
Study Design: Multicentre, cross-sectional study.
Main Outcome Measures: VA was evaluated by the contemporaneous presence of a pH > 5, vaginal dryness and at least one objective sign of VA (mucosal pallor, dryness, thinning, fragility or with petechiae).

The imaging diagnosis of malignant ovarian cysts relies on their morphological features, which are not always specific to malignancy. The histological analysis of these cysts shows specific fluid characteristics, which cannot be assessed by conventional imaging techniques. This study investigates whether the texture-based radiomics analysis (TA) of magnetic resonance (MRI) images of the fluid content within ovarian cysts can function as a noninvasive tool in differentiating between benign and malignant lesions.

A favourable option to management symptoms during menopausal transition is menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) but relation among MHT and risk of melanoma is controversial. This study aims to identify, analyse and present the evidence surrounding post-menopausal exogenous hormone therapy and the risk for melanoma in women. A systematic searches of database was conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and Cochrane without time, region, and language restrictions from inception to April 2020.

Background: Human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) constitute around 8% of the human genome and have important roles in human health and disease, including cancers. Previous studies showed that HERV envelope (Env) proteins are highly expressed in cancer tissues and co-related with cancer progression. KAP1 has been reported to play a key role in regulating retrotransposons, including HERV-K, through epigenetic silencing.

Background: Cervical cancer (CC) is the 4th most common cancer-related death in gynecological cancer worldwide. It has been reported that many lncRNAs contribute to oncogenesis although the fundamental mechanisms are basically unknown. Here, we aimed to identify a novel lncRNA H1FX-AS1 and explore a ceRNA network in CC oncogenesis and progression.

Insufficient response to oxidative stress in placenta is proposed as a contributing factor for preeclampsia (PE) development. Glutathione S-transferases (GST) have significant role in detoxification processes. Conflicting results were published by several research groups regarding GST T1 and GST M1 deletion polymorphism as risk factors for PE.
