: Nephrocalcinosis (NC) is a common condition characterized by the deposition of calcium salts in the kidneys of very preterm infants due to tubular immaturity, intensive treatment and nutritional supplements. However, optimal vitamin D supplementation remains unclear. In most patients, NC spontaneously resolves within the first year of life, but long-term kidney function data are lacking.

: Endometrial cancer is currently the sixth most frequent cancer in women, and scientific research is focusing on the search for particular features of the endometrium that may explain a further predisposition to the onset of endometrial cancer, aimed at improving knowledge of the pathogenetic factors of this disease. The aim of our review is to analyze in detail the results of the literature on the endometrial microbiota in patients with endometrial cancer and to investigate its role. : We performed our research on the Pubmed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases.

Objective: We assessed reproductive, obstetrical, and oncological outcomes in patients who underwent fertility-sparing treatment by including studies that adhere to the FIGO 2018 staging system.
Methods: Data on recurrence, mortality, pregnancy rate, live birth rate, and preterm delivery rate were collected.
Results: In patients with stages IA1, IA2, and IB1, the recurrence rate was 4.

Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has become a method more and more frequently used in loco-regional breast cancer in the initial stages. Starting from the first report on the technical feasibility of the sentinel node method in breast cancer, published by Krag (1993) and Giuliano (1994), the method underwent numerous improvements and was also largely used worldwide. This article is a prospective study that took place at the "SJUPBT Surgery Clinic Timisoara" over a period of 1 year between July 2023 and July 2024, during which 137 underwent sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) based on the current guidelines.

Insulin resistance describes the lack of activity of a known quantity of insulin (exogenous or endogenous) to promote the uptake of glucose and its utilization in an individual, as much as it does in metabolically normal individuals. On the cellular level, it suggests insufficient power of the insulin pathway (from the insulin receptor downstream to its final substrates) that is essential for multiple mitogenic and metabolic aspects of cellular homeostasis. Atherosclerosis is a slow, complex, and multifactorial pathobiological process in medium to large arteries and involves several tissues and cell types (immune, vascular, and metabolic cells).

Background: Cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) has become more frequent as a direct consequence of the increased number of cesarean deliveries and the advances in imaging. Although some cases are characterized by spontaneous resolution, unrecognized or mishandled CSP has the potential to cause both fetal and maternal morbidity and mortality. However, due to its infrequency, there is no agreement on the best management.

Purpose: Recently, progesterone has been used to prevent LH surge instead of GnRH analogues during ART treatments, which is known as progesterone-primed ovarian stimulation (PPOS) protocol. During ART treatment, highly purified human menopausal gonadotropin (HP-hMG) and recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (rFSH) are two of the agents used for stimulation of antral follicles. The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy and success of HP-hMG and rFSH agents in the ovarian stimulation step of the PPOS protocol, which has not been previously reported in the literature.

Skeletal alterations and their complications can significantly impact the quality of life and overall prognosis of patients living with HIV (PLWHIV). Considering skeletal alterations are often asymptomatic and unapparent during routine clinical evaluation, these conditions are frequently overlooked in the clinical management of PLWHIV. However, since the use of combined antiretroviral therapy (cART) has increased life expectancy in PLWHIV effectively, osteopenia, osteoporosis, and bone fragility are now considered to have a major health impact, with a substantial increase in healthcare costs.

The operating room is the environment where harm to the patient is most likely. Robotic surgery was listed as one of the top 10 health hazards as late as 2020. Taking inspiration from other fields of application, such as aeronautics, checklists have been increasingly implemented in medical practice over the years, becoming essential components of the operating theatre.

Introduction: Fertility-sparing treatment (FST) for patients with cervical cancer intends to achieve oncologic outcomes comparable to those after radical treatment while maximizing reproductive outcomes, including the ability to conceive and minimizing the risk of prematurity.
Methodology: International multicentre retrospective FERTISS study focused on patients treated with FST analysed timing of FST relative to pregnancy, conception attempts and methods, abortion rates, prophylactic procedures reducing the risk of severe prematurity, pregnancy duration, and delivery mode.
Results: Of the 733 patients treated at 44 centres in 13 countries, 49.

Objectives: Gestational hypertension (GH) is one of the most common pregnancy-related complications, however, there is still insufficient knowledge about its development and molecular changes. The aim of our study was to examine the expression of miR-17, miR-29a and miR-181a, as well as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-17 in women with GH and to investigate possible correlations between these parameters.
Study Design: The study included 64 pregnant women, placed either in the control or the GH group.

Background And Objectives: The moment of birth represents a complex physiological process that is followed by adaptive changes in the vital systems of the newborn. Such reactions have their positive but also negative effects. The aim of this research was to determine the difference in laboratory values of stress indicators in newborn children delivered by cesarean section (CS) with general and spinal anesthesia.

Objective: To investigate the association between female sexual function and metabolic features among women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) during reproductive age.
Method: This was a cross-sectional study in which 288 women with PCOS and 180 women without PCOS between the ages of 20 and 40 years were evaluated. All women had serum total testosterone, androstenedione, DHEA-S, fasting glucose, total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C, and triglyceride levels analyzed.

Background: Bromodomain and extra-terminal (BET) domain proteins that bind to acetylated lysine residues of histones serve as the "readers" of DNA acetylation. BRD4 is the most thoroughly studied member of the BET family and regulates the expression of key oncogenes. BRD4 gene amplification has been identified in ovarian cancer (~18-19%) according to (TCGA) analysis.

Background And Aims: The conventional computed tomography (CT) appearance of ovarian cystic masses is often insufficient to adequately differentiate between benign and malignant entities. This study aims to investigate whether texture analysis of the fluid component can augment the CT diagnosis of ovarian cystic tumors.
Methods: Eighty-four patients with adnexal cystic lesions who underwent CT examinations were retrospectively included.

The tumor microenvironment is affected by reactive oxygen species and has been suggested to have an important role in ovarian cancer (OC) tumorigenesis. The role of glutathione transferases (GSTs) in the maintenance of redox balance is considered as an important contributing factor in cancer, including OC. Furthermore, GSTs are mostly encoded by highly polymorphic genes, which further highlights their potential role in OC, known to originate from accumulated genetic changes.

Dyslipidemia is a component of metabolic syndrome, having an important role in the carcinogenesis of different tumor types, such as prostate, ovarian, or renal cancer. The number of studies on the predictive potential of the different components of the lipid profile with a predictive potential in breast cancer is quite low. The evaluation of the lipid profile was carried out for the 142 patients who benefited from neoadjuvant therapy (NAC) in order to identify a potential predictive biomarker.

Chorangioma is a rare non-trophoblastic benign vascular neoplasm originating from the primitive chorionic mesenchyme. Usually asymptomatic, it affects approximately 1% of female fetuses. We present the case of a giant placental chorangioma (GPC) in a preterm male pregnancy coexisting with a maternal neuroendocrine carcinoma.
