Deleterious effects of SNPs found in genes encoding transcriptional factors, as well as antioxidant and detoxification enzymes, are disputable; however, their functional significance seems to modify the risk for clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) development and progression. We investigated the effect of specific , , gene variants and haplotype on ccRCC risk and prognosis and evaluated the association between GSTP1 and regulatory (JNK1/2) and executor (caspase-3) apoptotic molecule expression in ccRCC tissue samples and the presence of GSTP1 : JNK1/2 protein : protein interactions. Genotyping was performed in 223 ccRCC patients and 336 matched controls by PCR-CTTP and qPCR.

Introduction: The systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a comparatively rare chronic autoimmune disease in women of reproductive age, the pathogenesis and therapy of which also conditions the increased risk of development of malignant diseases.
Case Report: We present a clinical case of a 38-year-old female patient with lupus and stage 1B1 adenocarcinoma of uterine cervix, in which robotic radical hysterectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection has been successfully performed. The strict primary and secondary prophylaxis for pathological changes of uterine cervix are of essential significance for patients with lupus.

Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is a major cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Serbia has not fully implemented preventive measures against GBS neonatal diseases. Therefore, we aimed to assess the maternal GBS colonisation and invasive neonatal disease rate, to reveal the trends of antimicrobial resistance and serotype distribution of GBS from various patient groups.

Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) is a regulator of intrauterine growth, and circulating concentrations are reduced in intrauterine growth-restricted fetuses. The aim of our study was to investigate the relationship between IGF-1 levels in newborns and intrauterine growth, expressed as birth weight (BW). The research was designed as a cross-sectional study.

Introduction: Uterine smooth muscle tumours of uncertain malignant potential (STUMPs) are a rare histologically heterogeneous group of uterine smooth muscle tumours (SMTs). Their malignant potential and clinical differentiation between leiomyoma and leiomyosarcoma remain uncertain prior to surgical removal.
Aim Of The Study: To investigate the patients and tumour characteristics of patients with STUMPs and to propose algorithms for optimal diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up management.

Detectable serum levels of beta subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin (βhCG) in nonpregnant, perimenopausal women bring confusion in both clinician and patient and could lead to unnecessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. A 45-year-old woman with the continuous elevation of βhCG underwent hysteroscopy, two laparoscopic surgeries, two explorative uterine cavity curettages and three cycles of cytostatic therapy. No ultrasonographic, macroscopic or histological signs of pregnancy, both uterine and ectopic or gestational trophoblastic disease were found.

The contraceptive pill is an effective and safe method of preventing pregnancy. The progestins used for contraception either are components of a combined hormonal contraceptive (tablets, patches or vaginal rings) or are used alone in progestin-only formulations. Progestin-only contraceptives are available as daily oral preparations, subcutaneous or intramuscular injectables (every 1-3 months), subdermal implants (every 3-5 years) and intrauterine systems (every 3-5 years).

Endometriosis, defined as the presence of functional endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity, presents mainly with pelvic pain and infertility. Acute abdominal pain in non-pregnant patients with endometriosis might be minimised as a typical feature of the disease, while endometriosis is rarely considered in the differential diagnosis of acute abdominal pain. Our objective was to conduct a systematic review of the current literature of cases of acute abdomen/acute abdominal pain in non-pregnant endometriotic patients.

This study aimed to determine the change in sexual function among Turkish women through decades and to define the association between sexual dysfunction and androgens and cardiometabolic features. A total of 206 postmenopausal women aged 50-69 years and 210 premenopausal women aged 30-49 years who applied to menopause and gynecology clinics at a university-affiliated education and research hospital were included in this prospective study. Groups were constructed according to decades (i.

Introduction: MicroRNAs have a significant role in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. Circulating microRNAs could represent a potential biomarker for preeclampsia. The aim of this study was to evaluate plasma miR210-3p and miR518b in preeclampsia and healthy pregnancy for the first time by digital droplet PCR (ddPCR).

Tumor-driven immune suppression is a major barrier to successful immunotherapy in ovarian carcinomas (OvCa). Among various mechanisms responsible for immune suppression, arginase-1 (ARG1)-carrying small extracellular vesicles (EVs) emerge as important contributors to tumor growth and tumor escape from the host immune system. Here, we report that small EVs found in the ascites and plasma of OvCa patients contain ARG1.

Background: Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is associated with adverse perinatal outcomes, but the association with the concentration of specific biochemical markers is unclear. We aimed to quantify the adverse perinatal effects of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy in women with increased serum bile acid concentrations and determine whether elevated bile acid concentrations were associated with the risk of stillbirth and preterm birth.
Methods: We did a systematic review by searching PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases for studies published from database inception to June 1, 2018, reporting perinatal outcomes for women with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy when serum bile acid concentrations were available.
Objective: The main objective of this research was to assess the potential influence of cultural factors on the anxiety levels of a multicultural sample of Spanish and Turkish pregnant women at the beginning of the pregnancy.
Methods: Between October and December 2017 a total of 250 Turkish and 264 Spanish pregnant women attending their first pregnancy medical check-up between 10 and 12 weeks of pregnancy in three different cities, Istanbul, Antalya and Malaga, were recruited for study. These women completed a questionnaire that included the Turkish or Spanish validated of the state-trait anxiety Inventory, and a series of questions related to health status, general mood, and sociodemographic variables.
Background: Depression is the most frequent mental disorder during pregnancy, and its prevalence is at least as high as that of postnatal depression. Differences between Western and Eastern countries may exist according to cultural and educational factors.
Objective: to determine the influence of social and cultural factors on the mood state of a multicultural sample of 514 Turkish and Spanish pregnant women at the beginning of the pregnancy.

Objective: Cervical cancer is one of the most frequent malignant diseases diagnosed during pregnancy. Abdominal or vaginal radical trachelectomies are fertility-preserving alternatives to radical hysterectomy for young women with early-stage cervical cancer that can be performed during ongoing pregnancy.
Methods: A literature review of articles on this subject was conducted through a Medline search for articles published in English or French.

Autoimmune haemolytic anaemia (AIHA), caused primarily by pregnancy, is poorly described in the literature. There is especially little information on coping with cases that are not responsive to glucocorticoid treatment, monitoring a fetal condition, and identifying fetal haemolytic anaemia as early as possible. A case of pregnancy-induced autoimmune haemolytic anaemia is reported with major problems in differential diagnosis, treatment and the risks posed to both the mother and the fetus.

Change in the host and/or human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA methylation profile is probably one of the main factors responsible for the malignant progression of cervical lesions to cancer. To investigate those changes we studied 173 cervical samples with different grades of cervical lesion, from normal to cervical cancer. The methylation status of nine cellular gene promoters, CCNA1, CDH1, C13ORF18, DAPK1, HIC1, RARβ2, hTERT1, hTERT2 and TWIST1, was investigated by Methylation Specific Polymerase Chain Reaction (MSP).
