Purpose: The RAND-36 is the most frequently used patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) to evaluate health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in bariatric surgery. Background: Shortening of hospital stay to 1 night has not affected the short-term safety of patients undergoing laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). Whether the RYGB is feasible in an ambulatory setting (same-day discharge) without overnight hospital stay remains to be answered. Background: Up to 80 % of the bariatric surgery (BS) patients suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). BS patients with moderate to severe OSA (apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) ≥15) are usually treated with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). This is not indicated in mild OSA patients (AHI <15).
