Olive mill wastewater (OMWW), a pollutant resulting from the olive oil industry, poses a serious ecological challenge due to its high pollution load. This effluent is highly concentrated in chemical oxygen demand (COD), which is 200 times higher than that of sewage wastewater. Moreover, OMWW is characterized by a strong acidity, high content of fatty matter, and high concentration of phenolic compounds.

Earth's obliquity and eccentricity cycles are strongly imprinted on Earth's climate and widely used to measure geological time. However, the record of these imprints on the oxygen isotope record in deep-sea benthic foraminifera (δO) shows contradictory signals that violate isotopic principles and cause controversy over climate-ice sheet interactions. Overweight/obesity (OW/OB) have been associated with gut dysbiosis, changes in gastrointestinal motility and sedentary behavior, contributing to metabolic and inflammatory alterations. This systematic review aims to assess the evidence supporting the influence of physical activity and exercise on gut microbiota composition and diversity in OW/OB and was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines, using Medline, Embase, Ebsco and Scopus databases. Risk of bias was assessed with RoB 2 for randomized controlled trials (RCT), ROBINS-I for non-RCT and JBI Critical Appraisal tool for cross-sectional studies.

The phase separation of the NaO-BO-SiO system was explored both theoretically and experimentally in order to attain a spinodal structure having a narrowed periodic distance (<70 nm) with the porosity being kept at ∼60%. The phase separation was dealt with by two stages: an initial thermodynamic process of spinodal decomposition and a latter growth of the spinodal structure. The initial structural development was related to the interfacial energy and the change in free energy caused by phase separation.

The production and use of FWAs spans more than 60 years in China; however, the occurrence characteristics of FWAs in environmental water remain unknown. Background The goals of the annual Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology In-Training Examination (CREOG-ITE) are to provide residents with an assessment of their knowledge and program directors an assessment of their residency programs. Research has shown that a score greater than 200 is correlated with passing the qualifying board examination. We observed a substantial number of our residents were not performing well on the exam, which prompted the implementation of a new academic program aimed at determining the impact of an academic curriculum addition on CREOG-ITE scores in an American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) residency program.

Designing smart autonomous healing soft materials is crucial to attaining cost-efficiency and optimal performance in organic semiconductors. In this context, we design an unsymmetrical thiophene-fused phenazine (TFP)-based discotic liquid crystal (DLC) with the goal of creating an active organic semiconductor that encompasses favorable attributes, such as polarizability, mobility, and processability. Aligned with our objective, we successfully synthesized two unsymmetrical TFP core-based DLCs by linking alkyl chains of variable lengths at the periphery through a coupling reaction.

The biological relevance and dynamics of mRNA modifications have been extensively studied; however, whether rRNA modifications are dynamically regulated, and under which conditions, remains unclear. Here, we systematically characterize bacterial rRNA modifications upon exposure to diverse antibiotics using native RNA nanopore sequencing. To identify significant rRNA modification changes, we develop NanoConsensus, a novel pipeline that is robust across RNA modification types, stoichiometries and coverage, with very low false positive rates, outperforming all individual algorithms tested.
