Objective: To describe Kaiser Permanente Northern California's (KPNC) systematic implementation of universal tobacco screening, evidence-based interventions, and performance measures to achieve long-term smoking cessation success.
Methods: We outline seven key components of KPNC's tobacco screening and intervention program that contributed to a significant decline in smoking prevalence. We also report changes in the prevalence of current smokers within KPNC from 2014 to 2023 using linear regression analyses.

Objective: To determine the scope of feeding therapy for preterm infants in the NICU and medical and sociodemographic factors related to feeding therapy referral and service provision.
Study Design: Retrospective study of infants born <37 weeks gestation in a level IV NICU between January 2017 and December 2019.
Result: Among 547 infants, 27% of infants received a feeding therapy referral, and 74% of those referrals were problem-based referrals.

Purpose: To determine the prevalence of childhood mental and emotional health concerns and care seeking patterns among foreign-born MENA children compared to US- and foreign-born White children before and after adjusting for covariates.
Methods: Data from the 2000-2018 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) were analyzed. Poor toddler mental health in the past two months (2-3 years) and childhood emotional difficulties (4-17 years) in the past six months were measured.

Introduction: Social health is increasingly a focus of healthcare systems. Representative and intersectional analyses of individuals' social risks such as food, housing, transportation, and financial insecurity and their interest in receiving assistance from the healthcare system (social needs) can provide healthcare organizations with more nuanced estimates that can lead to more effective interventions.
Methods: The authors conducted cross-sectional survey of a representative sample of 43,936 Kaiser Permanente members in December 2019-September 2020.

To meet the specific education needs of ethics committee members (primarily full-time healthcare professionals), the Regional Ethics Department of Kaiser Permanente Northern California (KPNCAL) and Washington State University's Elson Floyd School of Medicine have partnered to create a one-academic year Medical Ethics Certificate Program. The mission-driven nature of the KPNCAL-WSU's Certificate Program was designed to be a low-cost, high-quality option for busy full-time practitioners who may not otherwise opt to pursue additional education. This article discusses the specific competency-focused methodologies and pedagogies adopted, as well as how the Certificate Program made permanent changes in response to the global pandemic.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are very common and presently implicated in 9 out of 10 leading causes of death in the United States. Despite this fact, our mechanistic understanding of how ACEs impact health is limited. Moreover, interventions for reducing stress presently use a one-size-fits-all approach that involves no treatment tailoring or precision.

Concerns persist about the potential impact of prenatal exposure to bisphenols (BP) and their replacement analogues on childhood asthma and allergies. Previous studies on single and small cohorts had limited statistical power, few investigated analogues BPF and BPS, and even fewer examined atopic outcomes. Our objective was to assess whether prenatal exposures to individual environmental bisphenols (BPA, BPF, BPS) influence risk of childhood asthma, allergic rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis.

Although many psychosocial strengths have been explored, there remains a need to identify under-appreciated strengths that help people overcome trauma. The objective of this study was to explore the resilience potential of 16 psychosocial strengths-including 4 understudied strengths (positive emotion regulation, self-reliance, relational motivation, and group connectedness)-for helping people overcome trauma. The understudied strengths were identified in previous qualitative work as salient in the southeastern communities where the study took place.

The Neurohospitalist Core Competencies comprise a set of competency-based learning objectives that encapsulate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of neurohospitalitists who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients with neurologic conditions. These competencies serve to characterize the rapidly expanding field of neurohospitalist medicine. The 27 chapters are divided into 3 sections entitled: neurological conditions, clinical interventions and interpretation of ancillary studies, and neurohospitalist role in the healthcare system.

Background: Diet quality during infancy can influence nutrient intake and ultra-processed foods (UPFs) consumption throughout later childhood.
Objectives: This study investigated the predictive validity of Infant Diet Quality Index (IDQI) scores from 0 to 1 y of age and consumption of select nutrients and UPFs at different time points in low-income children aged 2-5 y.
Methods: Dietary surveys and 24-h dietary recalls collected between ages 0 and 12 months from 2613 Special Supplemental Women, Infants, and Children Infant Toddler Feeding Practices Study-2 participants were used to assess infant diet quality by final IDQI score ranging from 0 (nonadherence to dietary guidelines) to 1 (complete adherence to guidelines).

Purpose: The Clinical Genome Resource (ClinGen) Gene Curation Expert Panels (GCEPs) have historically focused on specific organ systems or phenotypes; thus, the ClinGen Syndromic Disorders GCEP (SD-GCEP) was formed to address an unmet need.
Methods: The SD-GCEP applied ClinGen's framework to evaluate the clinical validity of genes associated with rare syndromic disorders. 111 Gene-Disease Relationships (GDRs) associated with 100 genes spanning the clinical spectrum of syndromic disorders were curated.

Metabolomics and lipidomics are pivotal in understanding phenotypic variations beyond genomics. However, quantification and comparability of mass spectrometry (MS)-derived data are challenging. Standardised assays can enhance data comparability, enabling applications in multi-center epidemiological and clinical studies.
