Objective: Osteoarthritis (OA) started to be associated to shifted microbiota composition recently. This systematic review aims to elucidate if there is a common microbiota composition linked with OA between different studies.
Methods: We screened PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Cochrane databases up to July 26 2021 to identify original studies in which microbiome was assessed from OA individuals, both in human and laboratory animals' studies.

Investment in action is vital to confront the challenges associated with chronic diseases and disability facing European health systems. Although relevant policy responses are being increasingly developed, most of them fail to recognize the role of rehabilitation services in achieving public health and social goals. Comprehensive guidance is thus urgently needed to support rehabilitation policy development and expand access to rehabilitation care to meet population needs effectively.

Aims: Among musicians, string players have the highest prevalence for musculoskeletal overuse. Playing a violin or viola requires rapid, repetitive, and complicated movements of the hands and fingers. This cross-sectional study aimed to examine whether violin/viola, violin/cello, and violin/French horn players experience more intense musculoskeletal pain than other instrumentalists.

Background: Professional musicians show a high prevalence of musculoskeletal pain, but information is limited about prevalence of pain compared to the general populations.
Aims: Our cross-sectional epidemiological study compared the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain between professional orchestra musicians and the working population in Finland.
Methods: Musicians with a permanent contract with all domestic professional symphony and philharmonic orchestras and a population sample of the workforce in Finland completed questionnaires including the same questions on musculoskeletal pain and on various other issues.

Osteoarthritis (OA) has long been viewed as a degenerative disease of cartilage, but accumulating evidence indicates that inflammation has a critical role in its pathogenesis. In particular, chondrocyte-mediated inflammatory responses triggered by the activation of innate immune receptors by alarmins (also known as danger signals) are thought to be involved. Thus, toll-like receptors (TLRs) and their signaling pathways are of particular interest.

Background: No validated scales exist specifically for measuring quality of life (QoL) and functioning level in patients with thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS). This cross-sectional survey examined whether some items adopted from validated QoL scales could be suitable for patients with TOS.
Methods: To find an optimal thoracic outlet syndrome index (TOSI), a panel of 14 specialists experienced in treating TOS independently evaluated the relevance of 19 items adopted from scales used in other upper-extremity syndromes.

Background: The etiology of non-specific low back pain (LBP) is complex and not well understood. LBP is common and causes a remarkable health burden worldwide. Leg-length discrepancy (LLD) is potentially a risk factor for development of LBP, although this relationship has been questioned.

Background: Randomized trials provide the most valid evidence of effectiveness of interventions. The study aims to determine the primary study question for randomized controlled trials; to evaluate the study questions in trials on effectiveness of arthroscopic meniscectomy for meniscal rupture of the knee; and to explore the clinical and research implications.
Methods: Previous studies on benchmarking controlled trials were utilized.

The validity and generalizability of evidence from trials on arthroscopic partial meniscectomy (APM) for a ruptured meniscus of the knee has been debated in scientific journals. The aim of this paper was to assess the validity and generalizability of evidence for trials on effectiveness of APM by a novel Benchmarking method; to compare this assessment with established assessment methods; and to make an overall assessment of the current evidence on validity and generalizability of findings. Literature search was undertaken to find all randomized controlled trials.

The Juvenile Arthritis Multidimensional Assessment Report (JAMAR) is a new parent/patient-reported outcome measure that enables a thorough assessment of the disease status in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). We report the results of the cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the parent and patient versions of the JAMAR in the Finnish language. The reading comprehension of the questionnaire was tested in ten JIA parents and patients.

Background And Aims:: The course of isolated serratus palsy is difficult to predict, especially if, in initial electromyographic examination, long thoracic nerve function is totally absent. How initial electromyography correlates with long-term outcome of isolated serratus palsy is unknown. We evaluated initial electromyographic examinations of isolated serratus palsy patients and compared these to their long-term outcome.

Background: To our knowledge, no validated scales exist as yet for measuring quality of life and functioning level in patients with serratus palsy. This cross-sectional survey study examined whether a broadly validated Western Ontario Rotator Cuff Index (WORC) could be partially adapted for patients with serratus palsy.
Methods: The relevancy of WORC, 21 items, along with 4 additional new items, was tested by 95 patients with serratus palsy and a panel of 9 medical experts.

Objectives: To compare the incidence of pneumonia in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) to the aged-matched general population and to evaluate the use of anti-rheumatic medication among children with JIA and pneumonia.
Methods: The National Hospital Discharge Register collects data on ICD-diagnoses of hospital patients in Finland. From this register, patients with JIA under 18 years of age with pneumonia from 1999 through 2014 were identified.

Background: Cells of tissues and biofilm forming bacteria compete for the living space on the surface of an implant. We hypothesized the incubation of the implant (titanium, polydimethylsiloxane, and polystyrene surface) with human cells before implantation as a strategy to prevent bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation.
Methods: After 24 hours of incubation with human osteogenic sarcoma SaOS-2 cells (1 × 10 cells/mL), the materials were incubated for 4.

Implantation of a biomaterial provides an adhesion substratum both to host cell integration and to contaminating bacteria. We studied simultaneous competitive adhesion of Staphylococcus aureus in serial 1:10 dilutions of 10 colony forming units (CFU)/mL and human osteogenic sarcoma (SaOS-2) or primary osteoblast (hOB) cells, both 1x10 cells/mL, to the surfaces of titanium, polydimethylsiloxane and polystyrene. The bacterial adherence and human cell proliferation, cytotoxicity and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) were studied using fluorometric (fluorescent microscopy and flow cytometry) and colorimetric methods (MTT, LDH and crystal violet).
