Although the impact of post-acute COVID-19 syndrome (PACS) on patients and public health is undeniably significant, its etiology remains largely unclear. Much research has been conducted on the pathophysiology, shedding light on various aspects; however, due to the multitude of symptoms and clinical conditions that directly or indirectly define PACS, it is challenging to establish definitive causations. In this exploration, through systematically reviewing the latest pathophysiological findings related to the neurological symptoms of the syndrome, we aim to examine how psychosocial and neuropsychological symptoms may overlap with neurological ones, and how they may not only serve as risk factors but also contribute to the persistence of some primary symptoms of the disorder.

The 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-biphosphatase (PFKFB) family of proteins are bifunctional enzymes that are of clinical relevance because of their roles in regulating glycolysis in insulin sensitive tissues and cancer. Here, we sought to express recombinant PFKFB2 and develop a robust protocol to measure its kinase activity. These studies resulted in the unexpected finding that bacterially expressed PFKFB2 is phosphorylated on Ser483 but is not a result of autophosphorylation.

Effective targeting of somatic cancer mutations to enhance the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy requires an individualized approach. Autogene cevumeran is a uridine messenger RNA lipoplex-based individualized neoantigen-specific immunotherapy designed from tumor-specific somatic mutation data obtained from tumor tissue of each individual patient to stimulate T cell responses against up to 20 neoantigens. This ongoing phase 1 study evaluated autogene cevumeran as monotherapy (n = 30) and in combination with atezolizumab (n = 183) in pretreated patients with advanced solid tumors.

A variety of dearomatized compounds have been prepared in moderate to excellent yields from planar scaffolds using trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) as an atom-economical chlorinating agent. The method tolerates a broad range of functionalities and can take place in several green and/or sustainable solvents. Twenty-one examples of 1,1-dichlorinated products of dearomatized 2-naphthols and analogous heteroarenes (quinolinols, isoquinolinols, and quinazolinol) are reported along with five examples of monochlorinated dearomatized products.
