Although observational studies have linked vitamin D deficiency to diabetes, it is unknown if taking vitamin D supplements can reduce the chance of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The purpose of this systematic review is to determine whether vitamin D supplementation lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were used to search for studies based on pre-established inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Introduction: Binge Eating Disorder (BED) has high lifetime prevalence rates, low treatment success rates, and high rates of treatment dissatisfaction, early discontinuation of care, and recurrence. Complementary and integrative health (CIH) interventions (non-mainstream practices used with conventional approaches for whole-person treatment) hold potential to overcome many treatment barriers and improve BED treatment outcomes. Some CIH interventions have empirical support for use in eating disorders.

The effects of vitamin D and vitamin A in immune cells are mediated through the vitamin D receptor (VDR) and retinoic acid receptor (RAR), respectively. These receptors share the retinoid X receptor (RXR) co-factor for transcriptional regulation. We investigated the effects of active vitamin D (1,25(OH)D) and 9-cis retinoic acid (9cRA) on T helper (T)1 and T2 cytokines and transcription factors in primary human blood-derived CD4 T cells.

Purpose: Obesity is closely associated with a lower risk of inguinal hernia, but the association between different obesity metrics and the risk of inguinal hernia is still unclear.
Methods: In our study, we categorized obesity measurement indicators into three groups based on the difficulty of measurement: (1) indicators easily available, such as body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR); (2) indicators accessible with moderate difficulty, such as body fat percentage and body fat mass; (3) indicators difficultly accessible, such as the volume of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT). Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was used to investigate the causal relationship between various adiposity measures and the risk of inguinal hernia in both European ancestry and East Asians.

Murine neonatal neutrophil depletion strategies have problems achieving deep neutrophil clearance and accurate residual neutrophil fraction detection. An isotype switch method can achieve profound neutrophil clearance using a combination of anti-Ly6G and anti-rat κ Ig light chain antibodies in adult C57Bl/6 mice, proven by extra- and intracellular Ly6G detection by flow cytometry. We adapted this technique to neonatal mice, testing four neutrophil depletion strategies in the peripheral circulation, bone marrow, and spleen.

The clinical use of dexamethasone (DXM) is associated with the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, the mechanisms by which DXM-induced NAFLD is still incompletely known. Therefore, the current study aims to test the hypothesis that DXM-induced NAFLD is mediated by dysregulation of key genes involved in lipid metabolism and liraglutide (LG) can ameliorate these effects.
