The objective of this study was to investigate the early follicular apoptosis in canine ovarian follicles by examining the expression of anti-apoptotic BCL-2 and pro-apoptotic BAX proteins throughout the estrous cycle associated with oocyte maturation. Follicular cells from preantral and antral follicles of varying sizes were isolated and grouped based on follicle type and estrous phase. Attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder with high incidence in children and adolescents characterized by motor hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has revealed that neuroanatomical abnormalities such as the volume reduction in the neocortex and hippocampus are shared by several neuropsychiatric diseases such as schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. The Philadelphia-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), defined as clonal disorders of the hematopoietic stem cells, are characterized by the proliferation of mature myeloid cells in the bone marrow and a chronic inflammatory status impacting the initiation, progression, and symptomatology of the malignancies. There are three main entities defined as essential thrombocythemia (ET), polycythemia vera (PV), and primary myelofibrosis (PMF), and genetically classified by JAK2, CALR, or MPL mutations. In MPNs, due to the overproduction of inflammatory cytokines by the neoplastic cells and non-transformed immune cells, chronic inflammation may provoke the generation and expansion of myeloid-derived suppressors cells (MDSCs) that highly influence the adaptive immune response.

The study of labeling selectivity and mechanisms of fluorescent organelle probes in living cells is of continuing interest in biomedical sciences. The tetracationic phthalocyanine-like ZnTM2,3PyPz photosensitizing dye induces a selective violet fluorescence in mitochondria of living HeLa cells under UV excitation that is due to co-localization of the red signal of the dye with NAD(P)H blue autofluorescence. Both red and blue signals co-localize with the green emission of the mitochondria probe, rhodamine 123.
