We compared performing preacher and incline biceps curls on changes in elbow flexors muscle size and strength. This was a between-group repeated measures randomized trial. Sixty-three young women performed preacher biceps curl (PC, n = 30) or incline biceps curl (IC, n = 33) for 8 weeks, twice a week.

Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma with Medullary Features and a Complete Pathological Response After Neoadjuvant FOLFIRINOX: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Purpose: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an aggressive malignancy with poor response to chemotherapy. High-frequency microsatellite instability (MSI-H) is a rare biological phenomenon in conventional PDAC, being more frequently described in tumors with medullary or mucinous features.

Methods And Results: In this manuscript, we report the case of a patient with an MSI-H pancreatic carcinoma with medullary features (medullary carcinoma of the pancreas-MCP) that achieved a complete pathological response after neoadjuvant modified FOLFIRINOX.

Association between individual urinary iodine concentrations in pregnant women and maternal/newborn outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: To assess whether individual diagnosis of low urinary iodine concentration (UIC) in pregnant women is associated with adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Methods: Studies that compared pregnant women with UIC <150 μg/L and those with UIC 150-249 μg/L were systematically reviewed. MEDLINE, EMBASE, LILACS, and CENTRAL were our source databases.

Comprehensive molecular epidemiology of influenza viruses in Brazil: insights from a nationwide analysis.

Influenza A and B viruses represent significant global health threats, contributing substantially to morbidity and mortality rates. However, a comprehensive understanding of the molecular epidemiology of these viruses in Brazil, a continental-size country and a crucial hub for the entry, circulation, and dissemination of influenza viruses within South America, still needs to be improved. This study addresses this gap by consolidating data and samples across all Brazilian macroregions, as part of the Center for Viral Surveillance and Serological Assessment project, together with an extensive number of other Brazilian sequences provided by a public database during the epidemic seasons spanning 2021-23.

Novel Therapies to Reduce Rehospitalization Risk in Worsening Heart Failure: Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis.

Background: Worsening heart failure (WHF) challenges health care with frequent rehospitalizations and reduced quality of life for patients. Despite therapeutic advances, high rehospitalization risks highlight the urgent need for new treatments.

Objectives: This study evaluated the effectiveness of initiating novel therapies during hospitalization or vulnerable phase for WHF patients to reduce rehospitalization risks and determine the optimal treatment sequence.

Background: Determining esophageal and colon involvement in patients with Chagas disease occurs through invasive and uncomfortable examinations, which in most cases are not performed. The objective of this study was to assess the involvement of anti-M2-pyruvate kinase (M2-PK) autoantibodies in the development of digestive alterations and/or in the diagnosis of the digestive form of human Chagas disease.

Methods: The total IgG and isotype (IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, IgG4) production was quantified using the antigen of Trypanosoma cruzi and the human M2-PK recombinant protein via the ELISA technique.

This study aimed to assess the interaction between genetic variants and dietary macronutrient intake on cardiometabolic traits [body mass index, waist circumference, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triacylglycerol, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting serum glucose, fasting serum insulin, and glycated haemoglobin].

Primary prevention of post-molar gestational trophoblastic neoplasia in high-risk complete hydatidiform mole: A single-dose prophylactic actinomycin D, associated with uterine evacuation - a long retrospective cohort study.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of actinomycin D (ActD) as prophylactic chemotherapy (P-chem) in patients with high-risk complete hydatidiform mole (Hr-CHM) on progression to gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN).

Methods: From 1996 to 2023, 426 Hr-CHMs were selected in a cohort of 1623 patients with gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). From 1996 to 2023, 290 patients with Hr-CHMs received a single bolus dose of Act-D at the time of uterine evacuation (Hr-CHM P-chem group); 136 with the same risk factors did not receive P-chem (Hr-CHM control group).

Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility, safety, and short-term (3-month) results of transperineal prostate thermal ablation (TPTA) as a minimally invasive outpatient treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Materials And Methods: A prospective nonrandomized study of 25 patients with lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to BPH seeking care at 2 interventional radiology centers between March and July 2024. TPTA was performed using a 17G radiofrequency needle with a 10-mm active tip under unconscious sedation combined with bilateral perineal and periprostatic nerve blocks.

The impacts of degradation and deforestation on tropical forests are poorly understood, particularly at landscape scales. We present an extensive ecosystem analysis of the impacts of logging and conversion of tropical forest to oil palm from a large-scale study in Borneo, synthesizing responses from 82 variables categorized into four ecological levels spanning a broad suite of ecosystem properties: (i) structure and environment, (ii) species traits, (iii) biodiversity, and (iv) ecosystem functions. Responses were highly heterogeneous and often complex and nonlinear.
