Development of a (68)Ga-Fluorinated Porphyrin Complex as a Possible PET Imaging Agent.

Nucl Med Mol Imaging

March 2012

Nuclear Medicine Research Group, Agricultural, Medical and Industrial Research School (AMIRS), Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute (NSTRI), P.O.Box: 31485-498, Karaj, Iran.

Aim: Due to the interesting pharmacologic properties of porphyrins, the idea of developing a possible tumor imaging agent using PET by incorporating (68)Ga into a suitable porphyrin ligand was investigated.

Methods: (68)Ga-labeled 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(pentafluoro-13 phenyl) porphyrin ((68)Ga-TFPP) was prepared using freshly eluted [(68)Ga]GaCl3 obtained from a 68Ge/68Ga generator developed in-house and 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrin (H2TFPP) for 60 min at 100°C.

Results: The complex was prepared with high radiochemical purity (>99% ITLC, >99% HPLC, specific activity: 13-14 GBq/mmol).

Developing new bone pain palliation agents is a mandate in handling end-stage cancer patients around the world. Possibly, Lu-177 ethylenediaminetetramethylene phosphonic acid ((177)Lu-EDTMP) is a therapeutic agent which can be widely used in bone palliation therapy. In this study, (177)Lu-EDTMP complex was prepared successfully using synthesized EDTMP ligand and (177)LuCl3.

Background And The Purpose Of The Study: Technetium-99m is the major radionuclide used in the world and mainly is provided by fission product. However extensive research has been conducted on the use of accelerators for production of (99m)Tc. This investigation reports the production of (99m)Tc radioisotope using cyclotrons and the preparation, quality control and biodistribution studies of four major Tc-radiopharmaceuticals.

(166)Ho-EDTMP is a major therapeutic agent which is widely used in bone palliation therapy. In this study, a (166)Ho-EDTMP complex was prepared successfully using an in-house synthesized EDTMP ligand and (166)HoCl(3). Ho-166 chloride was obtained by thermal neutron irradiation (1 Ã 10(13) ncm(â2)s(â1)) of natural Ho(NO(3))(3) samples (specific activity = 3â5 GBq/mg), dissolved in acidic media.

Evaluation of a new ionisation chamber fabricated with carbon nanotubes.

Radiat Prot Dosimetry

October 2010

Agricultural Medical and Industrial Research School (AMIRS), Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute (NSTRI), PO Box 31485-498, Karaj, Iran.

Ionisation chambers are the most practical and important radiation measurement devices due to their high sensitivity and relatively constant response with wide range of applied potential. In this work, a new plane-parallel ionisation chamber is proposed using carbon nanotubes as sensing electrodes. Some characteristics of the new chamber such as cable effect, leakage current and reproducibility are investigated.

Gamma irradiation can be used as one of the most efficient methods to reduce microorganisms in food. The irradiation of food is used for a number of purposes, including microbiological control, insects control and inhibition of sprouting and delay of senescence of living food. The aim of this study was to study effects of gamma irradiation, refrigeration and frozen storage as the combination process for improvement of red meat shelf-life.
