Purpose: Although intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common primary hepatic malignancy after hepatocellular carcinoma, there are limited data available on PET/CT imaging in ICC. This retrospective study analyzed the role of PET/CT imaging in the evaluation of ICC.
Methods: FDG PET/CT findings were reviewed in 65 patients with histologically confirmed ICC.

Background: Patients with coronary heart disease demonstrate changes in skin microcirculation and a decrease in cutaneous blood mass.
Objective: The goal of this study was to assess the feasibility of diagnosing myocardial ischemia based on peripheral microcirculatory variables.
Methods: The skin microcirculatory measurements were monitored using an LPT system comprising a Laser Doppler Flowmeter (LDF), a photoplethysmograph (PPG) and a transcutaneous oxygen tension device (tc-PO2).

Unlabelled: Primary pulmonary artery sarcoma (PAS) is a rare and highly lethal tumor. Here, we report a case of a 53-year-old female with PAS who was initially diagnosed with chronic pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) based on the results of a transthoracic Doppler echocardiogram, a contrast-enhanced computed tomography angiography, and a ventilation/perfusion lung scan.
Conclusion: We emphasize the difficulties in diagnosing PAS, the need to investigate this neoplasm in the differential diagnosis of PTE, the diagnostic value of different imaging techniques in the identification of the the tumor, and the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy in prolonging survival.

Aim: We tried to develop a multimodal iron oxide nanoparticles (IO NP) imaging probe by an encapsulation method using specific amphiphiles for (68)Ga-labeling and lymph node-targeting.
Materials & Methods: Nanoparticles (NPs) were encapsulated with a solution containing polysorbate 60 and the amphiphiles. The prepared NPs were labeled with (68)Ga and tested in vitro and in vivo.

Background: Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) is a persistent and debilitating disorder estimated to impair the quality of life of 2-4% of the population, with 9:1 female-to-male incidence ratio. FMS is an important representative example of central nervous system sensitization and is associated with abnormal brain activity. Key symptoms include chronic widespread pain, allodynia and diffuse tenderness, along with fatigue and sleep disturbance.

Gastric Schwannoma is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor that accounts for only 0.2% of all gastric tumors. The current study presents a case of gastric Schwannoma misdiagnosed as malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) by esophagogastroduodenoscopy, endoscopic ultrasonography, and contrast-enhanced or not enhanced and (18)F-FDG PET/CT imaging.

Objective: Using nuclear medicine imaging, we explored suitable acquisition window parameters for assessing the distribution of iodine-125 radioactive seed implantation.
Subjects And Methods: We studied 30 patients with various tumors (21 of which were liver cancers) who had received iodine-125 radioactive seed implantation and had undergone whole-body scintigraphy. Scintigraphy images were acquired at a magnification of 1.

This is the case of a 33 years old female patient who was diagnosed with depression and heterophobia, which progressed to generalized anxiety according to the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Health Related Problems, 10th Revision (ICD-10), Version for 2010 diagnostic criteria. The clinical symptoms of the patient were significantly improved after effective treatment. The patient underwent before and after treatment 99mTc-ethyl cysteinate dimmer ((99m)Tc-ECD) brain single-photon emission tomography (SPET).

Objective: Several recent studies have shown that hyperbaric oxygen (HBO₂) therapy carry cognitive and motor therapeutic effects for patients with acquired brain injuries. The goal of this study was to address the specific effects of HBO₂ on memory impairments after stroke at late chronic stages.
Method: A retrospective analysis was conducted on data of 91 stroke patients 18 years or older (mean age ∼60 years) who had either ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke 3-180 months before HBO₂ therapy (M = 30-35 months).

Purpose: To assess the potential of chitosan (CS) nanoparticles for ocular drug delivery by investigating their intraocular retention by γ-scintigraphy and intraocular pressure reduction.
Methods: Carteolol (CRT) loaded CS-NPs were prepared by ionotropic gelation method. A four-factor three-level Box-Behnken design was employed to investigate the influence of independent variables on particle size, loading capacity and entrapment efficiency.

Congenitally corrected transposition of great arteries (ccTGA) consists of both atrioventricular and ventriculo-arterial discordance. In patients with ccTGA, the pulmonary artery arises from the left ventricle, whereas the aorta arises from the right ventricle. The burden of the systemic blood pressure on the right ventricle involves an increased risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) and, as a long-term consequence, myocardial hypertrophy and gradual failure.

Current guidelines suggest proving angiotensin-independent aldosterone secretion in patients with primary aldosteronism (PA). It is further recommended to demonstrate unilateral disease because of its consequence for therapy. A general screening for excess secretion of other hormones is not recommended.

The diagnostic accuracy of 18F-FDG-PET (fluoro-2-deoxyglucose-positron emission tomography) remains questionable for primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) but seems to be more promising for restaging and therapy control. Yet, there are no data on FDG-PET in 131I-lipiodol treatment for primary liver cancer. The aim of this study was to relate baseline FDG-PET findings to histologic data and to assess, for the first time, the role of repetitive FDG-PET imaging for follow-up of 131I-lipiodol treatment.

Unlabelled: The aim of this study was to determine and localize culprit lesion by myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) in cases of angiographically detected coronary narrowing >or= 75% of at least one coronary artery.
Material And Methods: One hundred and thirty-two (132) patients with angiographically detected significant coronary narrowing (>or= 75% luminal stenosis of at least one major coronary artery) were studied. All the patients submitted MPI (99m)Tc-MIBI, with pharmacologic dipyridamole stress protocol with concomitant low level bicycle exercise 50W (DipyEX).

Unlabelled: The treadmill test combined with myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is a commonly used technique in the assessment of coronary artery disease (CAD). However, there is a group of patients who may not be able to undergo the treadmill test. Pharmacologic stress testing is increasingly utilized for stress perfusion imaging and currently accounts for nearly 40% of all nuclear stress testing [8].
View Article and Find Full Text PDFHigh-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP) has been extensively used in recent years to assess cardiovascular risk more thoroughly. A significant association between elevated CRP, a prevalence of coronary artery disease (CAD) and adverse cardiac events has been found. Stress myocardial SPECT perfusion imaging (MPI) is an accurate noninvasive technique for detecting CAD.
