X-ray represent gold standard to check reduction of fractures and dislocations. Sometimes plaster room is not equipped with C-arm or similar devices. Practical and focused use of ultrasound in plaster room cannot replace X-ray but may be a useful tool especially in tricky situations.

Background: The Italian Society of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging (SIECVI) conducted a national survey to understand better how different echocardiographic modalities are used and accessed in Italy.
Methods: We analyzed echocardiography laboratory activities over a month (November 2022). Data were retrieved via an electronic survey based on a structured questionnaire, uploaded on the SIECVI website.

Conceived and developed since 2001 at the Alba Center, Videodialysis (VD) was used initially to prevent dropout in prevalent PD patients by guiding them in performing dialysis (VD-Caregiver). Subsequently, its use was extended to the clinical follow-up of critical patients (VD-Clinical), problems relating to transport to the Center (VD-Transport), and since 2016 for training/retraining all patients (VD-Training). Since 2017 other Centers have employed VD using modalities analyzed in this paper.

Since chronic inflammation is associated with ovarian cancer growth and progression, some clinical studies have assessed the association between the pre-treatment neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the prognosis of ovarian cancer. The purpose of this study was to assess the dynamic behavior of the NLR during the course of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) in patients with high grade serous (HGS) advanced epithelial ovarian cancer and assess its correlation with clinical response, progression free survival (PFS) and changes in other inflammatory indexes. We performed a prospective observational study on 161 patients who underwent NACT at the Department of Gynecologic Oncology, ARNAS G.

Purpose: Sacubitril/valsartan has been associated with a positive reverse left ventricular remodelling in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). These patients may also benefit from an ICD implant. We aimed to assess EF improvement after 6 months of treatment with sacubitril/valsartan, evaluating when ICD as primary prevention was no longer indicated.

The identification of prognostic and predictive markers is crucial for choosing the most appropriate management method for ovarian cancer patients. We aimed to assess the prognostic role of tumor-associated macrophage (TAM) polarization in advanced ovarian cancer patients. We carried out a prospective observational study that included 140 consecutive patients with advanced-stage high-grade serous ovarian cancer as well as patients with other histotypes of ovarian cancer and patients with ovarian metastasis from other sites between June 2013 and December 2018.

Adrenaline, also known as epinephrine, is a hormone, neurotransmitter, and medication. It is the best established drug in neonatal resuscitation, but only weak evidence supports current recommendations for its use. Furthermore, the available evidence is partly based on extrapolations from adult studies, and this introduces further uncertainty, especially when considering the unique physiological characteristics of newly born infants.

Since 1999, the problem of patient safety has drawn particular attention, becoming a priority in health care. A "medication error" (ME) is any preventable event occurring at any phase of the pharmacotherapy process (ordering, transcribing, dispensing, administering, and monitoring) that leads to, or can lead to, harm to the patient. Hence, MEs can involve every professional of the clinical team.

Purpose Of Review: The aim of this review is to update readers on the most recent publications concerning clinical metabolomics in developing infants.
Recent Findings: Only a limited number of neonatal and pediatric metabolomic studies have been published, in comparison to the adult. However, this number of pediatric and neonatal papers is constantly increasing.

Newborns are a particularly vulnerable population. The response to a drug in terms of efficacy and toxicity varies widely from one newborn to another. Inter-individual variation in drug response is strongly affected by the patient's biochemical state at the time of therapy, as reflected by his metabolic phenotype, which in turn results from the interaction of both genetic and non-genetic factors.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly prescribed in pregnancy to treat fever, pain and inflammation. Indications for chronic use of these agents during pregnancy are inflammatory bowel or chronic rheumatic diseases. Since the seventies, NSAIDs have been used as effective tocolytic agents: indomethacin has been the reference drug, delaying delivery for at least 48 hours and up to 7-10 days.

Postnatal closure of the ductus arteriosus is crucial in the circulatory adaptation of the newborn to extrauterine life. In recent years, many studies have been performed to improve our understanding of both the physiology of the ductus arteriosus in the fetus and newborn, and the mechanisms underlying persistent ductal patency in the preterm infant. The pharmacological treatment of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) remains a controversial issue.
