Maternal adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are linked to negative health and developmental outcomes in offspring. However, whether maternal ACEs influence infant weight gain in the first months of life, and if this effect differs by infant sex, remains unclear. This study included 352 full-term newborns from low-risk pregnancies and their mothers in low-income settings in Brazil.

Plasmids play a crucial role in facilitating genetic exchange and enhancing the adaptability of microbial communities. Despite their importance, environmental plasmids remain understudied, particularly those in fragile and underexplored ecosystems such as the deep-sea. In this paper we implemented a bioinformatics pipeline to study the composition, diversity, and functional attributes of plasmid communities (plasmidome) in 81 deep-sea metagenomes from the Tara and Malaspina expeditions, sampled from the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans at depths ranging from 270 to 4005 m.

Introduction: Cardiac arrest registries can benchmark, enhance quality of care and provide data for research. Key stakeholders from Emergency Medical Communication Centre (EMCC), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), In-Hospital Care Providers (IHCP) and Recovery and Rehabilitation Providers (RRP) have different perspectives, and registry results and patient cohorts should be tailored to facilitate benchmarking, quality improvement projects and research in all sections of the chain of survival. In this paper, we describe different cohorts of interest, exemplified by data from the Norwegian Cardiac Arrest Registry (NorCAR).

Background: CONCORD-3 highlighted wide disparities in population-based 5-year net survival for cutaneous melanoma during 2000-2014. Studies showed a survival advantage in women, but the reasons are not completely understood. We aim to estimate trends in age-standardised 5-year net survival by sex and to examine the role of age, anatomic location and stage on the survival advantage for women worldwide.

Objective: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Emotion-focused therapy (EFT) are empirically supported models for treating depression. Comparisons of the models regarding outcome exist, but no comparison of the clients' experiences of change. This study explored and compared experiences of change in CBT and EFT for major depression.

An external control arm based on health registry data can serve as an alternative comparator in single-arm drug development studies that lack a benchmark for comparison to the experimental treatment. However, accessing such observational healthcare data involves a lengthy and intricate application process, delaying drug approval studies and access to novel treatments. Clinical trials typically comprise only a few hundred patients usually with high-cardinality features, which makes individual data instances more exposed to re-identification attacks.

Systems biology tackles the challenge of understanding the high complexity in the internal regulation of homeostasis in the human body through mathematical modelling. These models can aid in the discovery of disease mechanisms and potential drug targets. However, on one hand the development and validation of knowledge-based mechanistic models is time-consuming and does not scale well with increasing features in medical data.

Background: There is limited and conflicting evidence on the comparative cardiometabolic safety and effectiveness of aripiprazole in the management of severe mental illness. We investigated the hypothesis that aripiprazole has a favourable cardiometabolic profile, but similar effectiveness when compared to olanzapine, quetiapine, and risperidone.
Methods And Findings: We conducted an observational emulation of a head-to-head trial of aripiprazole versus olanzapine, quetiapine, and risperidone in UK primary care using data from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink.

Purpose: There is solid evidence of the impact of life experiences on health. Yet, knowledge of how general practitioners (GPs) relate to patients' stories of such experiences is sparse. This study explored GPs' reflections and experiences concerning managing potentially impactful patient stories.

Building upon an earlier study of heme-nitrosyl complexes (. , , 20496-20505), we examined a wide range of nonheme {FeNO} complexes (the superscript represents the Enemark-Feltham count) and two dinitrosyl iron complexes using DMRG-CASSCF calculations. Analysis of the wave functions in terms of resonance forms with different [π*(NO)] occupancies (where = 0-4 for mononitrosyl complexes) identified the dominant electronic configurations of {FeNO} and {FeNO} complexes as Fe-NO and Fe-NO, respectively, mirroring our previous findings on heme-nitrosyl complexes.

Importance: The effect of adjuvant chemotherapy following resection of pancreatic adenocarcinoma after preoperative (m)FOLFIRINOX (combination leucovorin calcium [folinic acid], fluorouracil, irinotecan hydrochloride, and oxaliplatin in full or modified dosing) chemotherapy on overall survival (OS) is unclear because current studies do not account for the number of cycles of preoperative chemotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy regimen.
Objective: To investigate the association of adjuvant chemotherapy following resection of pancreatic adenocarcinoma after preoperative (m)FOLFIRINOX with OS, taking into account the number of cycles of preoperative chemotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy regimen.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This retrospective cohort study included patients with localized pancreatic adenocarcinoma treated with 2 to 11 cycles of preoperative (m)FOLFIRINOX followed by resection across 48 centers in 20 countries from 2010 to 2018.

In adaptive beamforming, the array signal processing adjusts its sensor delays and weights based on the incoming data. In conventional beamforming, these parameters are instead given from a predefined model. Adaptive beamformers can improve measurement precision by dynamically rejecting spatial interference.

Parental cognitions, stress, depression, and infant regulatory challenges might reinforce each other in the early parent-infant relationship. A transactional model was used as a framework to investigate these relationships. Two hundred and twenty pregnant women and their partners were recruited during pregnancy and followed 7 months postnatally in the NorBaby study in Norway.

The Keiser 10-rep leg press test protocol employs short inter-repetition rest intervals (2-38 s), raising concerns as to whether athletes perform optimally. The aim of this study was to compare the results of the standard Keiser protocol with an identical protocol modified to include a significantly longer inter-repetition rest intervals and to evaluate whether these effects differed between men and women. A total of 30 athletes (age 17.

Background: As parental burnout is increasingly recognised for its severe impact on parents and children, identifying factors that exacerbate or alleviate this condition is crucial. Reliable assessment tools in clinical settings are essential to detect those at risk of or experiencing burnout, enabling timely intervention.
Aims/objectives: This study aims to adapt the Parental Burnout Assessment for use in Iceland and evaluate its psychometric properties while exploring how personal and socio-demographic factors influence parental burnout.

Despite known gender/sex differences in the prevalence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), potential differences in the associations among PTSD symptoms between men and women in the early post-trauma period are not well-characterized. This study utilized network analysis to assess potential differences in the associations among PTSD symptom clusters between men and women during the early post-trauma period. We included = 475 participants (57.
