Long-lived photoluminescent probes are emerging as significant luminogens for biological imaging. However, currently, most long-lived luminescent materials contain expensive rare elements or cytotoxic bulky aromatic or conjugated units. Herein, a novel hyperbranched polyphosphate (HBPPE) was synthesized using triethyl phosphate (TEP) and ethylene glycol (EG) through a transesterification polycondensation reaction.

Owing to the inherent advantages of parallelism, rapid processing speed, and minimal energy consumption, optical analog computing has witnessed a progressive development. Quantum optical computing exceeds the capabilities of classical computing in terms of computational speed in numerous tasks. However, existing metamaterial-based quantum Deutsch-Jozsa (DJ) algorithm devices have large structural dimensions and are not suitable for miniaturized optical computing systems.

We demonstrate an electrically biased reconfigurable chiral metasurface for controlling the polarization conversion and asymmetric transmission in a broadband manner. The reconfigurable metasurface is constructed with coupled three-layer complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) arrays and is loaded with tunable electronic components to achieve dynamic control of reconfigurable chiral coupling in the CSRRs by simply tuning the external voltage on the structure. It is found that the polarization conversion in the metasurface can be effectively and continuously tuned in both experiments and simulations in a broadband frequency range.

A simple, one-step electrodeposition process was rapidly performed on a metal substrate to fabricate calcium superhydrophobic surfaces in an electrolyte containing calcium chloride (CaCl), myristic acid (CH(CH)COOH), and ethanol, which can avoid the intricate post-processing of surface treatment. The morphology and surface chemical compositions of the fabricated superhydrophobic surfaces were systematically examined by means of SEM, XRD, and FTIR, respectively. The results indicate that the deposited surfaces were mainly composed of calcium myristate, which can dramatically lower surface free energy.

Mixed cultures were established by a sediment to investigate the changes in organic carbon (C) in a combined ammonium and phenanthrene biotransformation process in aquatic ecosystems. The microorganisms in the sediment demonstrated significant ammonium-N and phenanthrene biotransformation capacity with removal efficiencies of 99.96% and 99.

Pristine δ-MnO as the typical cathode for rechargeable zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) suffers from sluggish reaction kinetics, which is the key issue to prepare high-performance manganese-based materials. In this work, Na incorporated into layered δ-MnO (NMO) was prepared for ZIB cathodes with high capacity, high energy density, and excellent durable stability. By an effective fabricated strategy of hydrothermal synthesis, a three-dimensional interconnected δ-MnO nanoflake network with Na intercalation showed a uniform array arrangement and high conductivity.
