Hashimoto's disease (HD) is one of the major clinical subtypes of autoimmune thyroid disease. Both environmental and genetic factors contribute to the pathogenesis of HD. Previous evidence has shown that both IRAK2 and TLR10 are potential candidate susceptibility genes for HD.

In this work, the relationship between octamer binding transcription factor 4 (OCT-4) expression and the clinicopathological features of cervical cancer (CC) is evaluated in detail. The library databases Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane library, Wan Fang and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were searched for research related to these concepts published from the time the databases were established until May 2018. The obtained studies are screened, extracted, and evaluated according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and meta-analysis is carried out via RevMan 5.

Influence of IL-1R2 polymorphisms on endometrial cancer susceptibility in the Chinese Han population.

Mol Genet Genomic Med

May 2019

Key Laboratory of Resource Biology and Biotechnology in Western China, Ministry of Education, Northwest University, Xi'an, Shaanxi, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent research highlights the significant role of genetic factors, particularly single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the IL-1R2 gene, in increasing susceptibility to endometrial cancer.
  • A case-control study with 293 endometrial cancer patients and 579 healthy individuals found specific SNPs and haplotypes associated with higher cancer risk.
  • The study concluded that certain IL-1R2 polymorphisms might influence endometrial cancer development, with a recommendation for further investigation to validate these findings.

It was reported recently that minimally invasive radical hysterectomy was associated with worse prognosis than the open abdominal counterpart for the management of early-stage cervical cancer. Uterine manipulator and intracorporeal open colpotomy may be the 2 main suspects responsible for the inferiority. We hypothesize that minimally invasive radical hysterectomy with enclosed colpotomy and without the use of a uterine manipulator will improve survival.

Asthma is a chronic allergic ailment affecting a considerably large population of the world. The aim of this study is to evaluate the ameliorative effects of vanillic acid against ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma in rat model. Asthma was induced in Sprague Dawley rats and vanillic acid was orally administered at 25 and 50 mg/kg body weight for 28 days.

The utility of measuring the apparent diffusion coefficient for peritumoral zone in assessing infiltration depth of endometrial cancer.

Cancer Imaging

July 2018

Department of Radiology, the First Affiliated Hospital, Xi'an Jiaotong University Xi'an, #277, Yanta West Road, Xi'an, 710061, Shaanxi, China.

Background: The invasion depth of endometrial cancer is one of the most important prognosis factors. The aim of the current study was to investigate the diagnostic value of the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of the peritumoral zone for assessing the infiltration depth of endometrial cancer.

Methods: An institutional review board approved this prospective study, and all study participants provided informed consent.

Aucubin (Ai), a natural compound isolated from plants, including Aucuba japonica and Eucommia ulmoides, shows significant anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative bioactivities. Here, we attempted to explore the protect effects of Ai on LPS-induced acute lung injury (ALI). Our results indicated that Ai increased the survival rate and ameliorated pathogenic processes in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mice.

The long-term chronic inflammation of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) induces the initiation and progression of cervical cancer. Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) are being identified to be involved into inflammation and carcinogenesis and could function as cancer biomarkers in clinical. However, the significance of inflammation-related LncRNA (e.

Acute lung injury (ALI), known a severe disease along with high morbidity and mortality, is lacking of specific therapies. Inflammation, apoptosis and oxidative stress are critical pathologies that contribute to ALI. Recently, there is study indicated that NLRP9b, a NOD-like receptor (NLR) member, is critical in modulation of inflammatory response.

Blood-based protein biomarkers have recently shown as simpler diagnostic modalities for colorectal cancer, while their association with clinical pathological characteristics is largely unknown. In this study, we not only examined the sensitivity and reliability of single/multiple serum markers for diagnosis, but also assessed their connection with pathological parameters from a total of 279 colorectal cancer patients. Our study shown that glycoprotein carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) owns the highest sensitivity among single marker in the order of CEA > cancer antigen 72-4 (CA72-4) > cancer antigen 19-9 9 (CA19-9) > ferritin > cancer antigen 125 (CA125), while the most sensitive combined-markers for two to five were: CEA + CA72-4; CEA + CA72-4 + CA125; CEA + CA19-9 + CA72-4 + CA125; and CEA + CA19-9 + CA72-4 + CA125 + ferritin, respectively.

Background: To detect the genotypes of pathogenic and colonization Candida albicans strains and to reveal whether there was a homologous relationship between these strains.

Methods: Pathogenic and colonization isolates were collected from infants in the NICU of Shenzhen People's Hospital (Shenzhen, People's Republic of China). rDNA identification, multilocus sequence typing (MLST), and multi-loci variable number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA) were used for species confirmation, strain identification, phylogenetic tree clustering, and assessment of homology among the pathogenic and colonization strains.

A Bayesian Stepwise Discriminant Model for Predicting Risk Factors of Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes: A Case-control Study.

Chin Med J (Engl)

October 2017

Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Health Science Center, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, Shaanxi 710061, China.

Background: Preterm premature rupture of membrane (PPROM) can lead to serious consequences such as intrauterine infection, prolapse of the umbilical cord, and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome. Genital infection is a very important risk which closely related with PPROM. The preliminary study only made qualitative research on genital infection, but there was no deep and clear judgment about the effects of pathogenic bacteria.

Mortality of neonatal respiratory failure from Chinese northwest NICU network.

J Matern Fetal Neonatal Med

September 2017

a Departments of Pediatrics and Neonatology , Children's Hospital of Fudan University, Shanghai , PR China.

Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of respiratory support and surfactant in incidence, management and outcome of neonatal hypoxemic respiratory failure (NRF) in Chinese emerging regional neonatal-perinatal care system in the era of universal health insurance policy.

Study Design: Clinical data of NRF were prospectively collected in 12 consecutive months from 2011 to 2012 in 12 neonatal intensive care units (NICU) in major cities of Northwest China. NRF was defined as hypoxemia requiring nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) or intratracheal ventilation combined with surfactant for at least 24 h, with associated risk factors, mortality rate and major co-morbidities analyzed.
