Cervical cancer (CC) is a common disease in women characterized by high recurrence rate. LncRNA ceramide synthase 6 antisense RNA 1 (CERS6-AS1) has been found to play a crucial role in the progression of breast cancer and pancreatic cancer. Nevertheless, the regulatory role of CERS6-AS1 in CC remains largely unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to find a way to reduce the negative effects of chemotherapy in children with low-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) while still achieving high cure rates.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 2396 patients in the CCCG-ALL-2015 study, comparing outcomes between those receiving a single dose and those receiving a double dose of daunorubicin during the remission-induction phase.
  • Results showed no significant differences in overall survival or early death rates between the groups, but the double-dose group had better event-free survival and lower relapse risk, indicating the possibility of dosage reduction for specific low-risk patients with positive or hyperdiploid ALL.

Oxymatrine (OMT) has exhibited an anti-cancer role in human cancers, including cervical cancer (CC). The dysregulated circular RNAs (circRNAs) are key regulators in cancer biology, and circ_0008460 was upregulated in CC. This study was performed to investigate the circRNA-based molecular mechanism for OMT in CC.

Functional Connectivity of Nucleus Accumbens Is Associated with Lifelong Premature Ejaculation in Male Adults : A Resting-state fMRI Study.

Clin Neuroradiol

September 2022

Life Science Research Center, School of Life Science and Technology, Xidian University, 710071, Xi'an, Shaanxi, China.

Purpose: Ejaculation represents a crucial component of sexual behavior in men, which is involved in reward functions of certain brain areas including the nucleus accumbens (NAcc). Lifelong premature ejaculation (PE) is one of the most prevalent sexual dysfunctions in men. It is suggested to be related to abnormal brain function.

Background: The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of cefuroxime axetil combined with Xingpi Yanger granules on the treatment of upper respiratory tract infection accompanied by diarrhea and on serum gastrin (GAS), motilin (MOT), and somatostatin (SS) levels in children.

Methods: In total, 124 children with upper respiratory tract infection accompanied by diarrhea admitted to the department of pediatrics in our hospital from May 2019 to May 2020 were selected and divided into a study group (n=62) and a reference group (n=62), according to admission number. The reference group children received routine treatment, while the children in the study group were treated with cefuroxime axetil combined with Xingpi Yanger granules.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Based Structural Covariance Changes of the Striatum in Lifelong Premature Ejaculation Patients.

J Magn Reson Imaging

February 2022

Life Sciences Research Center, School of Life Science and Technology, Xidian University, Xi'an, China.

Background: The striatum has been reported to be implicated in various neurological diseases, including lifelong premature ejaculation (LPE). Altered striatum-related functional connectivity was investigated in LPE patients in previous studies; however, structural abnormalities in the striatum have been less studied in LPE.

Purpose: To identify the gray matter volume (GMV) and structural covariance patterns of the striatum between LPE patients and healthy controls (HCs).

Background: Middle-aged females, especially perimenopausal females, are vulnerable to depression, but the potential mechanism remains unclear. Dopaminergic and GABAergic system dysfunction is involved in the pathophysiology of depression. In the current study, we used 2-month-old and 11-month-old C57BL/6 mice as young and middle-aged mice, respectively.

Various sources of information are available for identifying and evaluating adverse drug reactions (ADRs). However, some studies only used the ADR data from spontaneous reporting databases to evaluate the safety of post-marketing drugs. This study was performed to identify an appropriate method for evaluating the safety of post-marketing drugs by comparing the frequencies of ADRs among three datasets: randomized controlled trials, published case reports, and spontaneous reports.

Objective: Artificial intelligence (AI) could automatedly detect abnormalities in digital cytological images, however, the effect in cervical cancer screening is inconclusive. We aim to evaluate the performance of AI-assisted cytology for the detection of histologically cervical intraepithelial lesions (CIN) or cancer.

Methods: We trained a supervised deep learning algorithm based on 188,542 digital cytological images.

Hepatocyte nuclear factor 1 homeobox A-antisense RNA 1 () is a long noncoding RNA and controls human tumor development and progression. However, its expression and role in breast cancer, the most overwhelmingly occurring malignancy in women globally, remain poorly illuminated. Expression of , ()-, and tripartite motif containing 32 () was detected using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting.

Objectives: To access the distinct values of contrast transcranial Doppler (cTCD), contrast transthoracic echocardiography (cTTE), and contrast transesophageal echocardiography (cTEE) in the diagnosis of right-to-left shunt (RLS) due to patent foramen ovale (PFO) and to define the most practical strategy for the diagnosis of PFO.

Methods: 102 patients with a high clinical suspicion for PFO had simultaneous cTCD, cTTE, and cTEE performed. The agitated saline mixed with blood was used to detect right-to-left shunt (RLS).

Gastroprotective effect of gallic acid against ethanol-induced gastric ulcer in rats: Involvement of the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling and anti-apoptosis role.

Biomed Pharmacother

June 2020

Department of Chinese Materia Medica and Natural Medicines, School of Pharmacy, Air Force Medical University, Xi'an 710032, China; College of Life Science and Medicine, Northwest University, Xi'an, 710069, China. Electronic address:

Gallic acid (3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid, GA) is a phenolic compound found in many medicinal plants traditionally used in China or patent medicine such as Feiyangchangweiyan capsule (FY capsule) for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases for decades. However, the evidence for the gastroprotective effect of GA is deficient and the pharmacological mechanisms remain limited. The present investigation was initiated to demonstrate the gastroprotective effect and to understand potential underlying mechanism of GA on ethanol-induced gastric ulcer in rats.

Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is the leading cause of death among preterm infants born at < 30 weeks' gestation. The incidence of NEC is reduced when infants are fed human milk. However, in many neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), it is standard practice to freeze and/or pasteurize human milk, which deactivates bioactive components that may offer additional protective benefits.
