This study aimed to provide more data support for early diagnosis and treatment of neonatal purulent meningitis through retrospective analysis of its clinical diagnosis and treatment, pathogen distribution, and drug resistance in 5 third-class A hospitals in Southwest and Northwest China from January 2011 to December 2015. It was found that both the positive rates of blood and cerebrospinal fluid culture were low, and Escherichia coli should be the main pathogenic bacteria. Drug-resistant strains with varying degrees to the third generation of cephalosporin antibiotics have appeared currently.

The clinical performance of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in the Down's syndrome screening based on 1,901 pregnant women in a Chinese hospital was investigated. This was a retrospective analysis of NIPT study in singleton pregnancy (n=1,901). The NIPT test is offered routinely as a prenatal screening test for common fetal aneuploidies, including trisomy 13 (T13), T18 and T21 to pregnant women with risk factors of one or more anomalies.

Background And Objective: Effective treatment of Uterus Cervical Carcinoma (UCC) rely heavily on the precise pre-surgical staging. The conventional International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) system based on clinical examination is being applied worldwide for UCC staging. Yet its performance just appears passable.

Introduction: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) play an important role in the pathology of preeclampsia (PE). The survival of MSCs and angiogenesis in the maternal-fetal interface are important for a successful pregnancy. MicroRNA-136 (miR-136) is highly expressed in decidua-derived MSCs (MSCs) from PE compared with healthy donors (NC).

Zhonghua Nan Ke Xue

January 2017

Department of Pediatric Surgery, Northwest Women and Children's Hospital, Xi'an, Shaanxi 710061, China .

Objective: To investigate the effect of modified Bianchi (single incision in the midline of the scrotum) orchiopexy (MBO) versus that of traditional surgery in the treatment of median or low cryptorchidism.

Methods: Eighty-two children with median or low cryptorchidism were treated from February 2013 to February 2014, 46 (53 testes) by MBO and the other 36 by the traditional method of inguinal incision (control, 40 testes). Comparisons were made in the operation time and postoperative complications between the two surgical strategies.

Tripartite motif 16 (TRIM16), a member of the RING B-box coiled-coil (RBCC)/tripartite motif (TRIM) protein family, has been shown to play a role in tumor development and progression. However, the role of TRIM16 in ovarian cancer has never been revealed. Thus, in this study, we investigated the roles and mechanisms of TRIM16 in ovarian cancer.

Purpose: To systematically review and meta-analyze studies that have compared the clinical outcomes of laparoscopic and open Nissen fundoplication on children.

Methods: Online databases were searched to identify studies that have compared the laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication (LNF) and open Nissen fundoplication (ONF) on children, looking specifically for operative time, time to full feed, redo fundoplication rates and total postoperative complications including wound infection, retching, and airway complications.

Results: Of those 916 patients in the 9 selected studies, 557 and 359 patients had undergone LNF and ONF, respectively; and LNF had significant longer operative time and less total postoperative complications including retching and airway complications than ONF.

Objective: To study the efficacy of different preparations of budesonide combined with pulmonary surfactant (PS) in improving blood gas levels and preventing bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in preterm infants with neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS).

Methods: A total of 184 preterm infants who developed NRDS within 4 hours after birth were randomly administered with PS + continuous inhalation of budesonide aerosol (continuous aerosol group), PS+budesonide solution (solution group), PS + single inhalation of budesonide aerosol (single aerosol group), and PS alone, with 46 neonates in each group. The changes in arterial blood gas levels, rate of invasive mechanical ventilation after treatment, time of assisted ventilation, rate of repeated use of PS, and the incidence of BPD were compared between the four groups.

There is no sufficient data to conclude the benefit of assisted hatching (AH) for advanced age patients. However, AH is routinely performed for advanced age patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) in China based on some retrospective evidence. It is important to assess the benefit of AH procedure for advanced age patients, especially by analyzing the data from China.

Background: Acute appendicitis is one of the most common emergency requiring operation. As the first discovered coagulation factor, plasma fibrinogen frequently increases with inflammation due to the activation of coagulation. The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the diagnostic value of hyperfibrinogenemia as a preoperative laboratory marker for appendiceal perforation in patients with acute appendicitis.
