Background: There has been an increase in older rural-to-urban migrant workers (aged 50 and above) in mainland China, little known about their depressive symptoms. The aim of this study was to identify depressive symptoms among older rural-to-urban migrant workers, as well as explored the factors leading to differences in depressive symptoms between older rural-to-urban migrant workers and their rural counterparts (older rural dwellers) and urban counterparts (older urban residents) in mainland China. The results provided a comprehensive understanding of the depressive symptoms of older rural-to-urban migrant workers, and had great significance for improving the depressive symptoms for this vulnerable group.

Objective: To study the associations between heterogeneity of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) subtype/prepregnancy body mass index (pre-BMI) and large-for-gestational-age (LGA) infants of Chinese women.
Methods: We performed a retrospective case-control study of 299 women with GDM and 204 women with normal glucose tolerance (NGT), using oral glucose tolerance test-based indices performed at 24-25 weeks of gestation. Women with GDM were classified into the following three physiologic subtypes: GDM with a predominant insulin-secretion defect (GDM-dysfunction), GDM with a predominant insulin-sensitivity defect (GDM-resistance), or GDM with both defects (GDM-mixed).

Background: Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic drug that is commonly used as a treatment for ovarian cancer. However, high doses and repeated use of carboplatin usually reduce the sensitivity of cancer cells to the drug. There is an urgent need to develop strategies to increase the sensitivity of ovarian cancer cells to carboplatin.

Blastomere multinucleation at the two-cell stage (MN2) is a common nuclear abnormality observed in early human embryos and known to decrease the implantation rate. The aim of this study is to explore whether or not there is a link between high 3PN zygotes proportion and MN2 incidence. For embryo culture in the conventional incubator, the evaluation of nuclear status of two-cell stage is usually not performed.

Background: Female pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD), a common disease affecting women, has attracted a significant amount of attention in the field of obstetrics and gynecology in recent years. Pelvic floor disorders can induce urinary incontinence, vaginal prolapse and other dysfunction, which seriously affect the quality of life of patients. This study aimed to analyze the current status of PFD in urban women in Xi'an City.

We aimed to evaluate whether or not time lapse selection was beneficial for the cleavage-stage embryo transfers. The study included 838 infertile women with good ovarian reserve (obtaining more than 8 oocytes) from January 2018 to August 2019. Based on the transferred embryos with different grades (grade I, II and III), the patients were divided into day 3 selection with conventional morphology (CM) and day 3 selection with time lapse (TL) groups.

Background: SALL4 is a zinc finger transcription factor that exerts its physiological role during embryo-fetal development. Analyses of SALL4 expression have shown its oncogenic role in precursor B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, acute and chronic myeloid leukemia, gastrointestinal, breast, and lung cancers. The aim of this study was to determine the immunohistochemical profile of SALL4 in pediatric yolk sac tumors (YSTs).

Since December 2019, there has been an outbreak of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection in China. Two cases of neonates with positive 2019-nCoV tests have been reported. Due to the immature immune system and the possibility of vertical transmission from mother to infant, neonates have become a high-risk group susceptible to 2019-nCoV, which emphasize a close cooperation from both perinatal and neonatal pediatrics.

The transplantation of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) can promote hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (HIBD) nerve repair, but finding suitable seed cells to optimize transplantation and improve treatment efficiency is an urgent problem to be solved. In this study, we induced hUC-MSCs into dedifferentiated hUC-MSCs (De-hUC-MSCs), and the morphology, stem cell surface markers, proliferation and tri-directional differentiation ability of the De-hUC-MSCs and hUC-MSCs were detected. A whole-gene chip was utilized for genome cluster, gene ontology and KEGG pathway analyses of differentially expressed genes.

Background: The quality of the family environment-in particular, the kind of parenting children receive in their early years-plays a critical role in influencing children's growth and development. To facilitate the development and delivery of appropriate parenting and family interventions for Chinese parents, this study explores the prevalence of the difficulties that may arise in the course of child-rearing, the associated sociodemographic factors and parents' help-seeking behavior.
Methods: A cross-sectional self-reporting survey was conducted with a sample of 2229 parents of children between 6 and 35 months of age.

Liposomes are one of the most widely investigated carriers for CRISPR/Cas9 delivery. The surface properties of liposomal carriers, including the surface charge, PEGylation, and ligand modification can significantly affect the gene silencing efficiency. Three barriers of systemic CRISPR/Cas9 delivery (long blood circulation, efficient tumor penetration, and efficient cellular uptake/endosomal escape) are analyzed on liposomal carriers with different surface charges, PEGylations, and ligand modifications.

Aims: This study aims to determine the biological function and underlying mechanisms of lncRNA RHPN1 antisense RNA1 (RHPN1-AS1) in cervical cancer cell proliferation, invasion and migration.
Main Methods: Gene expression was analysed by quantitative real-time PCR; protein levels were determined by western blot assay; in vitro functional assays determined the cervical cancer cell progression; in vivo tumor growth of cervical cancer cell was determined in nude mice xenograft models.
Key Findings: The results showed that RHPN1-AS1 was up-regulated in cervical cancer tissues and cell lines.

Cervical cancer holds one of the highest morbidity and mortality in various types of cancers. It even leads to the most number of cancer-related deaths of women. A lot of research has indicated that the anomalous expression of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) would induce carcinogenesis and is associated with poor prognosis of patients with cancer.

Preeclampsia (PE) is a complication of pregnancy, and a leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide. Recently, the dysregulation of long non‑coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been reported to contribute to the pathogenesis and progression of PE. This study aimed to examine the alterations in the lncRNA family with sequence similarity 99 member A (FAM99A) in PE and its effects on trophoblasts.

We investigated the incidence and outcome of clinical and histological chorioamnionitis (CA) and the associated risk factors in an emerging provincial perinatal center in 2014-2015. Based on the suspected and proven clinical infection in the third trimester of pregnancy, placenta and accessories from singleton deliveries were routinely examined histologically. The incidence of CA and associated fetal and neonatal outcome were compared by the total deliveries.
