While tumor organoids have revolutionized cancer research by recapitulating the cellular architecture and behaviors of real tumors in vitro, their lack of functional vasculature hinders their attainment of full physiological capabilities. Current efforts to vascularize organoids are struggling to achieve well-defined vascular networks, mimicking the intricate hierarchy observed in vivo, which restricts the physiological relevance particularly for studying tumor progression and response to therapies targeting the tumor vasculature. An innovative vascularized patient-derived tumor organoids (PDTOs)-on-a-chip with hierarchical, tumor-specific microvasculature is presented, providing a versatile platform to explore tumor-vascular dynamics and antivascular drug efficacy.

Non-invasive glucose monitoring represents a significant advancement in diabetes management and treatment as non-painful alternatives than finger-sticks tests. After developing an integrated Raman spectral system with a 785 nm laser, this study systematically explores the application of in vivo Raman spectroscopy for quantitative, noninvasive glucose monitoring. In addition to observing characteristic glucose spectral information from a mouse model, a strong spectral correlation was also recognized with the blood glucose concentration.

Matrix effects can significantly bias Hf isotopic ratios in situ Hf isotope analyses using laser ablation (LA-) multicollector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS), necessitating the use of matrix-matched reference materials for accurate microanalysis. This work introduces a novel fast hot-pressing (FHP) sintering method to produce such reference materials efficiently for in situ analysis. By optimizing sintering temperatures, FHP technology enables the rapid preparation of in situ analysis reference materials with dense structures and homogeneous Hf isotopic compositions.

This study aims to optimize the process for preparing chitosan-based ultrasound-coupled hydrogel pads and investigate their application potential in ultrasonography. Chitosan, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, and N-isopropylacrylamide were used as the main materials to prepare chitosan-based ultrasound-coupled hydrogel pads. The free-radical polymerization conditions were optimized by a three-factor, three-level orthogonal test with the tensile strength and ultrasound image quality of the hydrogel pads as evaluation indicators.

Metal-catalytic conversion of polysulfide reagents is a major challenge in organic synthesis due to its challenging activation modes of multiple S-S bonds. The utilization of aryl di- and trithiosulfonates in nickel-catalyzed reductive coupling with aryl halides has been unexplored. Herein, we unprecedentedly describe PPh and Zn-collaborative reduction-induced nickel-catalytic selective C-S coupling of aryl di/trithiosulfonates with aryl halides to access sulfides over common disulfides or trisulfides.

The Qinling-Daba Mountain area, an essential ecological conservation zone in China, occupies a pivotal position in the pursuit of carbon neutrality. Using diverse data sources, including temperature, precipitation, solar radiation, and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, we refined the CASA model by replacing model indicators. This enhanced model simulated the net primary productivity of vegetation in the Qinling-Daba Mountain area from 2001 to 2022.

The construction of "zero-free cities" is an effective plan to achieve the carbon peak plan, reduce pollution and carbon emissions, and promote a circular economy. Based on the WARM model and Emission factor method, the total carbon emission reduction of solid waste sources and disposal in each field during the implementation of the zero-free city policy in Chongqing (2017-2021) was calculated, and the total carbon emission reduction of solid waste in each field in 2025 was predicted by scenario. The results showed that: ① After the implementation of cleaner production and green manufacturing policies in Chongqing, the generation intensity of general industrial solid waste decreased to 0.

The use of broad tool repertoires to increase dietary flexibility through extractive foraging behaviors is shared by humans and their closest living relatives (chimpanzees, Pan troglodytes). However, comparisons between tool use in ancient human ancestors (hominins) and chimpanzees are limited by differences in their toolkits. One feature shared by primate and hominin toolkits is rock selection based on physical properties of the stones and the targets of foraging behaviors.

Introduction: The Sanxingdui site (Sichuan, China) is the typical representative of the ancient Shu culture, which lasts from the late Neolithic to early Western Zhou. The sacrificial pits are located in the core region of Sanxingdui site, and numerous artifacts are unearthed including ivory, seashells, bronzes, pottery, jade, stone, gold, bone, and horn products. The function of the pits and buried artifacts has always been the focus, but the microbiome around artifacts attracts less attention.

Glutamate (Glu) is a crucial excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system that transmits brain information by activating excitatory receptors on neuronal membranes. Physiological studies have demonstrated that abnormal Glu metabolism in astrocytes is closely related to the pathogenesis of epilepsy. The astrocyte metabolism processes mainly involve the Glu uptake through astrocyte EAAT2, the Glu-glutamine (Gln) conversion, and the Glu release.

Variation in the efficiency of extracting calorie-rich and nutrient-dense resources directly impacts energy expenditure and potentially has important repercussions for cultural transmission where social learning strategies are used. Assessing variation in efficiency is key to understanding the evolution of complex behavioural traits in primates. Here we examine evidence for individual-level differences beyond age- and sex-class in non-human primate extractive foraging efficiency.

Butylcholinesterase (BChE) is a key enzyme in living system, closely related to liver and neurological diseases. It is very challenge to develop near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence probe methods for highly selective and sensitive detection of BChE in vivo. Based on the differences in active sites and spatial pockets between acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and BChE, a new NIR BChE-responsive fluorescence probe Probe-BChE (λ/λ = 600 nm/676 nm) was designed and synthesized by introducing dimethyl carbamate group as recognizing moiety to a NIR fluorophore hemicyanine skeleton.
