Sepsis is defined as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) is a common organ dysfunction of sepsis, and its incidence and mortality are increasing, which brings heavy economic burden to patients and society. Early diagnosis and effective intervention can block the occurrence and progression of SA-AKI effectively, improve prognosis, and reduce medical costs.

"Bis-Clamp-Cavity Synergy", an Efficient Approach to Improve Guest Binding Properties of Macrocyclic Host and Its Application on Detection of Al and Arg in Living Cells.

Anal Chem

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Eco-functional Polymer Materials of the Ministry of Education; Key Laboratory of Eco-environmental Polymer Materials of Gansu Province; College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou, Gansu 730070, China.

Improving the selective and sensitive binding properties of macrocyclic hosts to target guests is always an interesting challenge. Herein, we introduce a novel "bis-clamp-cavity synergy" strategy to enhance the selectivity and binding sensitivity of pillararenes toward target guests. To achieve this goal, we designed and synthesized ,'-bis-hydroxynaphthoylhydrazone-functionalized conjugated pillar[5]arene (), in which bis-hydroxynaphthoylhydrazone plays the role of clamps, while the pillar[5]arene provides the macrocyclic cavity.

Accurate identification of potato diseases is crucial for reducing yield losses. To address the issue of low recognition accuracy caused by the mismatch between target domain and source domain due to insufficient samples, the effectiveness of Multi-Source Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (MUDA) method in disease identification is explored. A Multi-Source Domain Feature Adaptation Network (MDFAN) is proposed, employing a two-stage alignment strategy.

Nodular fasciitis (NF) is a benign and self-limiting fibroblastic proliferation that originates from the superficial fascia and extends into the subcutaneous tissue or muscle. It typically manifests in individuals aged 20 to 35 years, with rare occurrences observed in patients over the age of 60 years. We herein report a case involving a 75-year-old man with NF in the right vocal cord.

Jiarong Tibetan is a regional group with distinctive regional characteristics and possess precious traditional village resources. Studying the spatial distribution and influencing factors of traditional villages is of vital significance for the protection and renewal of villages and the revitalization of cultural heritage. Nevertheless, due to the fact that the Jiarong Tibetan inhabited area has not been clearly defined for a long time, there is a lack of holistic discussion on the distribution features and driving mechanisms of traditional villages in this region.

Preparation and Application of Degradable Lignin/Poly (Vinyl Alcohol) Polymers as Urea Slow-Release Coating Materials.

Molecules

April 2024

Key Laboratory of Environment-Friendly Composite Materials of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, Lanzhou 730000, China.

The massive amount of water-soluble urea used leads to nutrient loss and environmental pollution in both water and soil. The aim of this study was to develop a novel lignin-based slow-release envelope material that has essential nitrogen and sulfur elements for plants. After the amination reaction with a hydrolysate of yak hair keratin, the coating formulation was obtained by adding different loadings (2, 5, 8, 14 wt%) of aminated lignin (AL) to 5% polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution.

Inherited retinal diseases (IRDs) are a group of rare genetic eye conditions that cause blindness. Despite progress in identifying genes associated with IRDs, improvements are necessary for classifying rare autosomal dominant (AD) disorders. AD diseases are highly heterogenous, with causal variants being restricted to specific amino acid changes within certain protein domains, making AD conditions difficult to classify.

HNRNPC promotes collagen fiber alignment and immune evasion in breast cancer via activation of the VIRMA-mediated TFAP2A/DDR1 axis.

Mol Med

August 2023

Department of Surgical Oncology, General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, No. 804, Shengli Street, Xingqing District, Yinchuan, 750004, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China.

Background: Cancers aggressively reorganize collagen in their microenvironment, leading to the evasion of tumor cells from immune surveillance. However, the biological significance and molecular mechanism of collagen alignment in breast cancer (BC) have not been well established.

Methods: In this study, BC-related RNA-Seq data were obtained from the TCGA database to analyze the correlation between DDR1 and immune cells.

Background: To explore the impact of anti-vascular epithelial growth factor (ant-VEGF) on the thickness of each retinal layer in patients with macular edema (ME) secondary to the branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO).

Methods: This retrospective study included patients with ME secondary to monocular BRVO who received anti-VEGF therapy in Ningxia Eye Hospital between January-December 2020.

Results: Forty-three patients (25 males) were included, with 31 showed > 25% reduction in central retinal thickness (CRT) after anti-VEGF therapy (response group), and the others showed a ≤25% reduction in CRT (no-response group).

lncRNA DLX6-AS1 Promotes Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury through Mediating the miR-204-5p/FBXW7 Axis.

Mediators Inflamm

January 2023

Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, People's Hospital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, The First Clinical College of Northwest University for Nationalities, Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region 750002, China.

Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is the restoration of blood flow post ischemia, which threatens the human life. Long noncoding RNA distal-less homeobox 6 antisense 1 (DLX6-AS1) has been found to take part in the IR-induced cerebral injury. Here, we determined the functional role of DLX6-AS1 in IR-induced myocardial injury.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases worldwide. The accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) protein and plaque formation in the brain are two major causes of AD. Interestingly, growing evidence demonstrates that the gut flora can alleviate AD by affecting amyloid production and metabolism.

This study mainly analyzed the relationship between nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) and transforming growth factor-β (TGFβ1)/Smad under high glucose environment and its influence on wound healing. Fibroblast NIH-3T3 was used to analyze the effect of high concentration glucose (20 nmol/mL) on cell viability, migration ability, inflammation level and NF-κB pathway. Pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (PDTC) was used to inhibit NF-κB for rescue experiments.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

August 2022

Key Laboratory of Atomic and Molecular Physics & Functional Materials of Gansu Province, College of Physics and Electronic Engineering, Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou 730070, China.

All-inorganic halide perovskites, as a dominant member of the perovskite family, have been proven to be excellent semiconductors due to the great successes for solar cells, light-emitting diodes, photodetectors, and nanocrystal photocatalysts. Despite the remarkable advances in those fields, there are few research studies focusing on gas and humidity-sensing performances, especially for pure CsPbBr and heterogeneous CsPbBr@MoS composites. Here, we first report a valuable CsPbBr sensor prepared by electrospinning, and the excellent gas sensing performances are investigated.
