Two Dy(iii) single-ion magnets, formulated as [Dy(Phen)(Cl-tcpb)] (Cl-1) and [Dy(Phen)(CHO-tmpd)] (CHO-2) were obtained through β-diketonate ligands (Cl-tcpb = 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-4,4,4-trifluoro-1,3-butanedione and CHO-tmpd = 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3-butanedione) with different substituent groups (-Cl/-OCH) and auxiliary ligand, 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen). The Dy(iii) ions in Cl-1 and CHO-2 are eight-coordinate, with an approximately square antiprismatic (SAP, ) and trigonal dodecahedron ( ) NO coordination environment, respectively, in the first coordination sphere. Under zero direct-current (dc) field, magnetic investigations demonstrate that both Cl-1 and CHO-2 display dynamic magnetic relaxation of single-molecule magnet (SMM) behavior with different effective barriers ( ) of 105.

Density function theory has been employed to systemically study 4,4'-azo-1-1,2,4-triazol-5-one (ZTO) and its six nitrogen-rich salts at two different calculated levels (B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) and B3PW91/6-31G(d,p)). Their optimized geometries, electronic structures and molecular electrostatic potentials were further studied. Based on the two computed methods, the results of the optimized geometries show that the calculated structure of each compound adopted at the two different levels are rather similar except salt 7 with some differences.

In this work, density functional theory is adopted to study the electronic and magnetic properties of MoS monolayers combined with a single S vacancy defect and a group VIII (G8) atom dopant, in which the dopant is incorporated Mo substitution. The calculated results show that the magnetic properties of monolayer MoS can be tuned by changing the distribution of the G8 atom and S vacancy. The S vacancy tends to decrease the net magnetic moment of the doped system when these two defects are in their closest configuration.

To investigate the effect of template removal methods on the structure, properties and catalytic performance of the MCM-22 zeolite, dielectric-barrier discharge (DBD) plasma treatment and thermal calcination have been comparatively studied for the removal of hexamethyleneimine (HMI) from the two-dimensional layered precursor of MCM-22 (MCM-22(P)). The materials were characterized using FT-IR, TG, XRD, N adsorption at low temperature, NH-TPD, and Al and Si MAS NMR. The results revealed that the seven-membered heterocyclic compound HMI can be effectively removed from the MCM-22 zeolite, and the condensation of silanol groups on the neighboring surface of MWW nanosheets can be induced by DBD treatment.

Herein, user-friendly control of the synthesis of sub-10 nm hexagonal (β-) NaYbF:Er nanocrystals (NCs) with extremely low-level Gd doping (0%, 10 mol%) was achieved. We reveal for the first time that the effective sodium/fluoride levels during the formation of cubic (α-) nuclei are not only controlled by the sodium/fluoride to rare-earth precursor ratios used, but also sensitively restricted by the NaF generation reaction in a sodium oleate-based solvothermal system. Excessive NaF generation will lead to a respective sodium- and fluoride-deficient environment, delayed α-to-β transition and larger β-NCs.

Two Cu(ii) complexes, namely, [CuL(HO)]·2NO·2CHOH 1 and [CuL(CHCOO)] 2, (L = (1,2)-1-(4-chlorophenoxy)-3,3-dimethyl-1-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butan-2-ol, triadimenol, a commercial 1,2,4-triazole pesticide) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, UV-Vis spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal structural analysis shows that the different types of salts (copper acetate is covalent, while copper nitrate is ionic) contribute to different crystal structures: complex 1 consists of one copper cation, four ligands, two coordinated water molecules, two free nitrate anions and two uncoordinated methanol molecules. Complex 2 is composed of one copper cation, two ligands and two acetate anions, without free molecules.

Aceraceae is a large forest tree family that comprises many economically and ecologically important species. However, because interspecific and/or intraspecific morphological variations result from frequent interspecific hybridization and introgression, it is challenging for non-taxonomists to accurately recognize and identify the tree species in Aceraceae based on a traditional approach. DNA barcoding is a powerful tool that has been proposed to accurately distinguish between species.
