Objects: Taurine exhibits protective effects in the context of cardiovascular pathophysiology. A range of evidence suggests that hypertension activates inflammatory responses and oxidative stress in the paraventricular nucleus (PVN), elevating the arterial tone and sympathetic activity, while it induces gut-brain axis dysfunction in the context of hypertension. However, the mechanism underlying taurine's anti-hypertensive effects via the gut-brain axis remains unclear.

Despite the improvements in outcomes for patients with multiple myeloma (MM) over the past decade, the disease remains incurable, and even those patients who initially respond favorably to induction therapy eventually suffer from relapse. Consequently, there is an urgent need for the development of novel therapeutic agents and strategies to enhance the treatment outcomes for patients with MM. The proteasome inhibitor bortezomib (BTZ) elicits endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and oxidative stress in MM cells, subsequent DNA damage, ultimately inducing cell apoptosis.

Photoacid generators (PAGs) and photohydride generators (PHGs) are specific photolabile protecting groups that release acid and hydride, respectively. Over the past decade, great efforts have been devoted to developing novel PAGs and PHGs with advanced efficiency, among which, two of the promising candidates are diarylethene (DAE)-based PAGs and PHGs, which release acids/hydrides during photochromic electrocyclization. The release quantum yield for PAGs is acceptable, while that of PHGs is only 4.

Purifying alkenes (mainly ethylene and propylene) by removing their corresponding alkanes is crucial yet challenging in the chemical industry. Selective physisorption shows promise for effective separation but demands precise pore dimensions and/or pore chemistry of adsorbents. We report an yttrium-based metal-organic framework, Y(TCHB)(OH)·2HO (HIAM-317, TCHB = 3,3',5,5'-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)-2,2',4,4',6,6'-hexamethyl-1,1'-biphenyl), that can separate ethylene/ethane and propylene/propane mechanisms regulated by coordinated water arrays.

Background: First-pass successful reperfusion (FPSR), defined as a successful/complete reperfusion achieved after a single thrombectomy pass, is predictive of favorable outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke with large-vessel occlusion. It is unknown whether intravenous tirofiban is effective in increasing the rate of FPSR in acute anterior large-vessel occlusion stroke.
Methods And Results: Patients who had acute large-vessel occlusion stroke presenting within 24 hours and underwent endovascular thrombectomy were analyzed from the RESCUE BT (Intravenous Tirofiban for Patients With Large Vessel Occlusion Stroke) clinical trial, of which the main analysis was neutral.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) possess an excellent ability for absorbing heavy metals, but their uneven particle size, difficult separation, and poor dispersion limit their wide application in the treatment of heavy metal pollution. In this paper, a monodisperse poly(4-allyloxybenzaldehyde--divinylbenzene) microsphere (denoted as PAD) was prepared with 4-allyloxybenzaldehyde as a functional monomer and divinylbenzene (DVB) as a crosslinker by one-step seed swelling polymerization. Subsequently, oxalyldihydrazide (ODH) and 2,4,6-trihydroxybenzene-1,3,5-tricarbaldehyde (Tp) were chosen as the precursors for coating the COF layer onto the surface of PAD through a one-pot method.

Current studies regard climbing plants as a single ecological plant type and ignore the ecological differences resulting from their climbing mechanisms, which may lead to a misrepresentation of the role of climbing plants in forest dynamics. Based on behavioral traits and economic traits of climbing plants, we test the hypothesis that tendril climbers and stem twiners are characterized by different resource acquisition strategies.

Driven by the "double carbon" strategy, petroleum coke short-term demand is growing rapidly as a negative electrode material for artificial graphite. The analysis of petroleum coke physicochemical properties has always been an important part of its research, encompassing significant indicators such as ash content, volatile matter and calorific value. A strategy based on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) in combination with chemometrics is proposed to realize the rapid and accurate quantification of the above properties.

Chirality transfer for natural chiral biomolecules can reveal the indispensable role of chiral structures in life and can be used to develop the chirality-sensing biomolecular recognition. Here, we report the synthesis and characterization of a series of achiral supramolecular organic frameworks (SOF-1, SOF-2, and SOF-3), constructed from cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8]) and tetraphenylethene (TPE) derivatives (1, 2, and 3), respectively, as chirality-sensing platforms to explore their chirality transfer mechanism for peptides in water. Given the right-handed () and left-handed () rotational conformation of TPE units and the selective binding of CB[8] to aromatic amino acids, these achiral SOFs can be selectively triggered in water by peptides containing N-terminal tryptophan (W) and phenylalanine (F) residues into their - or -rotational conformation, exhibiting significantly different circular dichroism (CD) spectra.

Organic small-molecule fluorophores, characterized by flexible chemical structure and adjustable optical performance, have shown tremendous potential in biosensing. However, classical organic fluorophore motifs feature large overlap between excitation and emission spectra, leading to the requirement of advanced optical set up to filter desired signal, which limits their application in scenarios with simple settings. Here, a series of wavelength-tunable small-molecule fluorescent dyes (PTs) bearing simple organic moieties have been developed, which exhibit Stokes shift up to 262 nm, molar extinction coefficients ranged 30,000-100,000 M cm, with quantum yields up to 54.
