In this paper, a new carbon dot (R1-CDs) was prepared by one-pot hydrothermal method by using 1,8-diaminonaphthalene and o-phthalic acid (o-PA) as precursors. Due to the high purity of R1-CDs, NMR analysis was performed to identify the types of H and C atoms in their graphene sheets. From our research findings, three important information was disclosed such as (1) five types H atoms are presented in R1-CDs; (2) 18 kinds of C atoms in the graphene sheets are observed, and 8 kinds of them are quaternary atoms, and 10 kinds of carbon atoms as tertiary one; (3) functional groups of -COOH and -NH from precursors cannot be inherited into the edges or defect sites of graphene sheet.

The excellent photophysical and electrochemical properties of porphyrins have inspired widespread interest in the realm of electrochemiluminescence (ECL). The aggregation-caused deficiency of ECL emission in aqueous solution, however, still severely impedes further applications. Herein, a molecule with a donor-acceptor (D-A) configuration, ATPP-Cou, consisting of monoaminoporphyrin as an electron donor and coumarin as an electron acceptor, was designed as an ECL luminophore to address the susceptibility of the porphyrin to aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) in aqueous solution.

Controllable β-carbon elimination to extrude norbornene remains a long-standing challenge in palladium and norbornene chemistry. Herein, this manuscript describes a switchable synthesis of biologically active C4-ethylaminoindole and C7-aminoindoline scaffolds by controlling β-carbon elimination, utilizing aziridine as a C-H ethylamination reagent through a C-N bond cleavage reaction. Furthermore, the protecting groups of the product can be easily removed, offering an unusual method for the synthesis of dopamine receptor agonists.

The rational design and facile preparation of a catalyst with high activity, strong durability and low consumption for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is an ongoing challenge in water splitting to generate clean and renewable H fuel. Herein, bimetallic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with a uniform morphology, controlled metal ratio and low crystallinity were constructed using a simple and reliable one-step solvothermal method. The three-dimensional (3D) flower-like MOF (F-Ni1Co4-BTC) with a Ni to Co molar ratio of 1 : 4 coordinated with 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid exhibited excellent OER catalytic activity compared with its corresponding counterparts, which can be attributed to the establishment of the exquisite morphology, the proportion of the dual-metal center, and the formation of active intermediates.

Exploring novel electrochemiluminescence (ECL) molecules with high efficiency and good stability in aqueous solutions is crucial for achieving highly sensitive detection of analytes. However, developing chiral luminophores with efficient ECL performance is still a challenge. Herein, we first uncover that artemisinin (ART), a well-known chiral antimalarial drug, features a strong ECL emission at 726 nm with the assistance of a co-reactant potassium persulfate (KSO), and an ECL efficiency of 195.

In mixed Sn-Pb perovskites, the synergistic properties of tin (Sn) and lead (Pb) are leveraged, effectively combining the merits of Pb-based perovskites while simultaneously reducing Pb-associated toxicity. However, the propensity for Sn to undergo facile oxidation from Sn to Sn poses a significant challenge to the stability of these mixed perovskites, limiting their advancement. This study proposes an innovative acetic acid (HAc)-driven synthesis approach to obtain a stable chain-like MAPbSnBr nano-assembly.

Tetracycline detection has been a great concern because of its overuse and difficulty in degrading. Here, a detection method with ratio fluorescence was developed by synthesizing Eu doped nanocomposites with NH-MIL-53(Al) nanosheets. After adding tetracycline, the fluorescence intensity at 616 nm characteristic emission peak of Eu was sensitized by the antenna effect generated from coordinating Eu with tetracycline, but the fluorescence of NH-MIL-53(Al) at 433 nm was quenched by the fluorescence resonance energy transfer between the Eu-tetracycline composition and NH-MIL-53(Al).

Photocatalysts comprising biochar and g-CN loaded on sodium alginate were prepared and characterized in terms of reusability and photocatalytic Cr(vi) reduction performance. The observed photocurrent responses as well as photoluminescence and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra showed that the best-performing catalyst featured the benefits of efficient photogenerated charge separation, superior electron conductance/transfer, and excellent light adsorption ability, which resulted in a higher photocatalytic Cr(vi) reduction performance compared to that of pure g-CN powder. The prepared composite was shown to be reusable and well separable from the reaction mixture, thus being a promising material for the practical photocatalytic removal of Cr(vi) from wastewater.
