Objectives: To assess immunogenicity and safety in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) transitioning from rituximab [US-licensed rituximab: Reference Product (RP); EU-approved rituximab: Reference Medicinal Product (RMP)] to DRL_RI (proposed rituximab biosimilar), in comparison to those continuing on RP/RMP.
Methods: This double-blind, randomized, Phase 3 study included 140 RA patients having prior exposure to RP/RMP; transitioned to DRL_RI (n = 70) or continued with RP/RMP (n = 70) for two 1000 mg infusions on Days 1 and 15. Assessments included Time-matched Rituximab Concentration (TMRC), anti-drug antibodies (ADAs), neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) and ADA titre over 12 weeks, and safety follow-up till 26 weeks.

Objective: To explore the surgical technique and clinical outcomes of biological total hip arthroplasty(THA) combined with impacting bone grafting for the treatment of moderate to severe acetabular invagination secondary to rheumatoid arthritis(RA).
Methods: Total of 20 patients(28 hips) with RA secondary to acetabular invagination were treated with THA of bioprosthesis combined with autogenous bone grafting from January 2012 to October 2020, including 5 males(8 hips) and 15 females(20 hips) with an average age of (55.10±4.

This is a case of a spinal epidural abscess (SEA) in a 41-year-old male with a history of chronic alcohol abuse, who initially presented with severe diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Following stabilization of DKA, the patient developed persistent gram-positive bacteremia, which progressed to an epidural abscess extending from the cervical to the thoracic spine with potential intracranial extension. Despite the complexity of the case, prompt diagnosis via magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and timely neurosurgical intervention for drainage, combined with targeted antibiotic therapy, led to a favorable outcome.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) contributes significantly to human health. Owing to the complexity of the ingredients in TCM, it is necessary to conduct basic research on effective substances and identify toxic substances to control the safety of medication. Cell membrane chromatography (CMC) is an important method for identifying target components in complex systems.

Cholera is an acute gastroenteritis that can lead to fatal dehydration and metabolic derangements. Cases of cholera in the United States are typically associated with international travel. Patients who are persistently dehydrated despite aggressive rehydration and antibiotic therapy may require hemodialysis until symptom resolution and stabilization of renal function.

Background: Minimally invasive bariatric surgeries provide effective weight loss with fewer complications. However, postoperative bleeding remains a significant concern due to its potential for serious morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to identify factors predicting postoperative bleeding following laparoscopic and robotic sleeve gastrectomy (SG) and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB).

Background: Obesity is a risk factor for the development of ventral hernias. Approximately eight percent of patients undergoing bariatric surgery have a concomitant ventral hernia. However, the optimal timing of hernia repair in these patients is debated.

As pediatric palliative care (PPC) expands within institutions and nationally, little guidance is available on building outpatient programs. We asked outpatient PPC (OPPC) program leaders in the United States about clinic development experiences to gather advice for growing programs. As part of a larger OPPC study, 48 freestanding children's hospitals with inpatient PPC programs were invited to complete a survey on OPPC.

Background: In community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), the role of biomarkers to shorten duration of antibiotic treatment has not been firmly established. We assessed the effectiveness of active feedback of treatment algorithms based on procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP), compared to standard care, on the duration of antibiotic treatment in patients hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in non-ICU wards.
Methods And Findings: We performed a randomised, open label, parallel group, multi-centre trial in 3 Dutch teaching hospitals.

While the earliest published health disparity research in the United States dates to 1899, the field was not formally established until the late 20th century. Initially focused on race and ethnicity, the field has broadened to include socioeconomic status. Several measures have been developed to quantify socioeconomic disadvantage, including the Social Vulnerability Index, Area Deprivation Index, and Child Opportunity Index.

Background: Sleeve gastrectomy is the most common bariatric procedure and its long-term complications include inadequate weight loss, weight regain, and de novo GERD, often requiring revisional surgery. Revisions, notably re-sleeve and conversion to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), are frequently performed, but safety data is limited. Herein, we used the MBSAQIP database to compare 30 day outcomes of primary sleeve gastrectomy (SG) with re-sleeve (RS) and SG to RYGB conversion.

Purpose: Parenteral nutrition (PN) can be an effective treatment to improve the nutritional status of patients with pancreatic cancer, but the effects of PN on quality of life (QoL) are still understudied. Therefore, we aimed at investigating whether the best supportive nutritional care (BSNC) in combination with PN at home compared to BSNC alone changed QoL in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer undergoing chemotherapy over a period of 7 weeks.
Methods: n = 12 patients in the PANUSCO study received nutritional counseling only (control group (CG)) and n = 9 patients were also given supportive PN (intervention group (IG)).

Background: There is an unmet need for effective therapies in pretreated advanced biliary tract cancer. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of nanoliposomal irinotecan and fluorouracil plus leucovorin compared with fluorouracil plus leucovorin as second-line treatment for biliary tract cancer.
Methods: NALIRICC was a multicentre, open-label, randomised, phase 2 trial done in 17 German centres for patients aged 18 years or older, with an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0-1, metastatic biliary tract cancer, and progression on gemcitabine-based therapy.
