Microplastics are a novel pollutant that adversely affect freshwater benthic organisms. However, few studies have investigated the mechanism underlying the bioaccumulation and the toxicity of microplastics. In this study, microplastics bioaccumulation of wild Cipangopaludina chinensis in the Songhua River were utilized, and a 28-day aquatic toxicity test was performed to determine the effects of exposure to polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the bioaccumulation of PET, and changes in multiple biomarkers in the muscle, gill, and kidney tissues.

Different cancer types not only have common characteristics but also have their own characteristics respectively. The mechanism of these specific and common characteristics is still unclear. Pan-cancer analysis can help understand the similarities and differences among cancer types by systematically describing different patterns in cancers and identifying cancer-specific and cancer-common molecular biomarkers.

Alkali and drought stresses are increasing severe environmental problems throughout the world, especially in the Songnen grassland of northern China. is the dominant grass species in the Songnen grassland of northern China and the most promising species for grassland restoration. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can colonize 80% of vascular plants, which can enhance the growth of host plants and provide extrinsic protection against abiotic stresses.

Background: Cryptosporidiosis is an important zoonotic protozoan disease worldwide, but few studies on this disease have been performed in wild birds; thus, our knowledge of this disease is insufficient, even in zoo birds. Animals in zoos are possible zoonotic disease reservoirs, potentially resulting in zoonotic agent spillover to humans; accordingly, our understanding of such phenomena should be improved.
Methods: A total of 263 fresh fecal samples from 43 avian species were randomly collected from the Beijing Zoo and Harbin North Forest Zoo and screened for the prevalence of by 18S rRNA gene sequencing.

Health big data has already been the most important big data for its serious privacy disclosure concerns and huge potential value of secondary use. Measurements must be taken to balance and compromise both the two serious challenges. One holistic solution or strategy is regarded as the preferred direction, by which the risk of reidentification from records should be kept as low as possible and data be shared with the principle of minimum necessary.

Cadmium stress causes a decrease in chlorophyll content and inhibits photosynthesis in tobacco leaves. The role of thioredoxin-like protein CDSP32 expressed in plant chloroplasts is to alleviates the reduced enzymes expression involved in chlorophyll synthesis of tobacco leaves due to Cd exposure, effectively preventing chlorophyll degradation and promoting increased tobacco biomass. Overexpression of Trx CDSP32 can protect the oxygen-evolving complex on the PSII donor side and promote electron transfer on the PSII acceptor side of tobacco leaves under Cd stress.

Electric vehicles can convert the kinetic energy of the vehicle into electric energy for recycling. A reasonable braking force distribution strategy is the key to ensure braking stability and the energy recovery rate. For an electric vehicle, based on the ECE regulation curve and ideal braking force distribution (I curve), the braking force distribution strategy of the front and rear axles is designed to study the braking energy recovery control strategy.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is often accompanied by a potentially devastating coagulopathy. Predictors of thrombohemorrhagic early death (TH-ED)/early bleeding death are not well characterized. In this retrospective study, eleven baseline clinical variables that can be assessed easily and promptly were chosen for evaluation in a cohort of 364 patients with APL who were administered arsenic trioxide (ATO) alone as remission induction therapy.

Background: To ensure the safety of trees, two NDT (nondestructive testing) techniques, electric resistance tomography and stress wave tomography, were employed to quantitatively detect and characterize the internal decay of standing trees. Comparisons between those two techniques were done to make full use of the individual capability for decay detection.
Methods: Eighty trees (40 and 40 ) were detected, then wood increment cores were obtained from each cross disc trial.

The introduction of arsenic trioxide (ATO) in treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) has resulted in high clinical complete remission (CR) rates over 90%. On the contrary, the risk for early death (ED) in APL patients treated with ATO continues to have a negative impact for optimization of APL therapeutics. There is an urgent need for precision medicine and biomarkers in clinical monitoring of ATO toxicity in APL, and ED in particular.

The plant hormone auxin plays a fundamental role in the growth and development of plants. However, because of its low concentration and many other interfering substances in plant tissues, the determination of auxins is still a challenging problem. To solve this problem, a kind of novel cellulose magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer micro-spheres (CMMIPs) was prepared by entrapment technique in this study.

Nitrogen and phosphorous are critical determinants of plant growth and productivity, and both plant growth and root morphology are important parameters for evaluating the effects of supplied nutrients. Previous work has shown that the growth of Acer mono seedlings is retarded under nursery conditions; we applied different levels of N (0, 5, 10, and 15 g plant-1) and P (0, 4, 6 and 8 g plant-1) fertilizer to investigate the effects of fertilization on the growth and root morphology of four-year-old seedlings in the field. Our results indicated that both N and P application significantly affected plant height, root collar diameter, chlorophyll content, and root morphology.

Artemisinin is an anti-malarial drug with poor water solubility and oral absorption; so a variety of derivatives based on the parent nucleus have been developed. Compared with artemisinin, dihydroartemisinin (DHA) has a stronger anti-malaria activity, and has the advantages of high metabolic rate and better water solubility. Recent studies have discovered that DHA has a good inhibitory effect on tumor cells, which is closely related to the peroxide bridge in its molecular structure.

Copper (Cu) is an essential micronutrient for algal growth and development; however, it is also generally considered to be one of the most toxic metals when present at higher levels. Seaweeds are often exposed to low concentrations of metals, including Cu, for long time periods. In cases of ocean outfall, they may even be abruptly exposed to high levels of metals.

Aquatic agriculture in heavy-metal-polluted coastal areas faces major problems due to heavy metal transfer into aquatic organisms, leading to various unexpected changes in nutrition and primary and/or secondary metabolism. In the present study, the dual role of heavy metal copper (Cu) played in the metabolism of photosynthetic organism, the edible seaweed Sargassum fusiforme, was evaluated by characterization of biochemical and metabolic responses using both 1H NMR and GC-MS techniques under acute (47 µM, 1 day) and chronic stress (8 µM, 7 days). Consequently, photosynthesis may be seriously inhibited by acute Cu exposure, resulting in decreasing levels of carbohydrates, e.

A root separation experiment was conducted to investigate the plant growth and rhizosphere soil microbes and enzyme activities in a mulberry/soybean intercropping system. As compared with those in plastic barrier and nylon mesh barrier treatments, the plant height, leaf number, root length, root nodule number, and root/shoot ratio of mulberry and soybean in non-barrier treatment were significantly higher, and the soybean's effective nodule number was larger. The available phosphorous content in the rhizosphere soils of mulberry and soybean in no barrier and nylon mesh barrier treatments was increased by 10.
