Unlabelled: Heterosis, a key technology in modern commercial maize breeding, is limited by the narrow genetic base which hinders breeders from developing superior hybrid varieties. By integrating big data and functional genomics technologies, it becomes possible to create new super maize inbred lines that resemble hybrid varieties through the aggregation of multiple QTL parental advantage loci. In this study, we utilized a combination of resequencing and field selfing selection methods to develop three pyramiding QTL lines (PQLs) (PQL4, 6, and 7), each containing 15, 12, and 12 QTL loci respectively.

The recovery and repurposing of noble metal from electronic waste has attracted significant attention due to the tremendous benefits to the economy and environment but is of great challenge. Herein, a two-dimensional oxygen-rich COF material, named TbDa-COF, was fabricated via integrating 1,3,5-tris(4-formylphenyl)benzene (TFPB) and oxygen-rich 3,3'-dihydroxybenzidine (DHB) into a π-conjugated framework. TbDa-COF permits selective gold recovery through local coordination and electrostatic interaction, which is then followed via in situ reduction to form gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) within its skeleton.

Porcine astrovirus (PAstV) is a widespread enteric virus in pigs, often co-infecting with other enteric viruses and contributing to diarrhea, leading to significant economic losses in the global swine industry. This study aims to identify the factors influencing PAstV prevalence by conducting a statistical meta-analysis of global data and evaluating heterogeneity across various subgroups. A systematic literature search was performed across PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP databases, covering studies from the inception of the databases up to December 2023.

In order to solve the problem of wastage of rice bran resources and make full use of the rice bran protein (RBP) with high nutrition, an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion was successfully prepared from RBP by dynamic high pressure microjet technology (DHPM) assisted with gum arabic (GA), which provided an effective method for fully exploiting RBP resources. The results indicated that, the emulsion treated under 120 MPa exhibited superior properties. The dispersion of the emulsion droplets was more uniform, the zeta potential was -24.

A comparative genomic analysis of feline coronavirus (FCoV) and feline panleukopenia virus (FPLV) was performed. Based on the conserved regions of the two viruses, specific probes and real-time PCR (qPCR) primers were designed, and a duplex TaqMan qPCR-based assay was established for detecting FCoV and FPLV. The results showed high analytical specificity, and no cross-response with other feline viruses was observed.

Weaning stress causes substantial economic loss in the swine industry. Moreover, weaning-induced intestinal barrier damage and dysfunction of the gut-liver axis are associated with reduced growth performance in piglets. Metasilicate-based alkaline mineral water (AMW) has shown potential therapeutic effects on gastrointestinal disorders; however, the mechanisms involved and their overall effects on the gut-liver axis have not been explored.

This study aimed to assess the impact of incorporating rapeseed meal (RM) as a partial substitute for fish meal (FM) in the diet of cultured hybrid sturgeon ( ♀ × ♂). A total of 450 juvenile hybrid sturgeon with similar weights were randomly assigned to five dietary groups, each with triplicates of 30 fish per tank. For 12 weeks, FM was replaced with varying percentages of RM (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%).

To improve the emulsion properties of soybean protein isolate (SPI), the effect of baicalin (BC) concentrations on the structure, antioxidant properties, and emulsion stability of SPI-BC conjugates were investigated. Structure analysis revealed that BC induced structural depolymerization and unfolding of SPI through the formation of covalent bonds (CN and CS), increasing hydrophilicity, stabilizing the interface, and enabling the formation of smaller oil droplets. The increase in zeta potential of SPI-BC conjugates enhanced electrostatic repulsion between droplets, preventing aggregation, while the strengthened interfacial protein network improved viscosity, shear stress, and thixotropic recovery, thereby significantly stabilizing the emulsion structure.

The manufacturing processes for infant formula disrupt the structure of phospholipid-coated milk fat globules, thereby impacting the physical stability of the system. In this study, either soybean phospholipids (SPs) or egg yolk phospholipids (EYPs) were incorporated into the milk system to reduce this damage, and their effects on the stability and fat globule structure of processed milk were examined. The findings revealed that the addition of phospholipids improved the physical stability and fat globule structure of different processed milk.
